Just talked to Mike Macedonia (sp?) and I've got to say, the guy sounds great. He's not taking any work for a month or so, but I will definitely be giving him any AK work I need done in the future. To say his prices were fair would be an understatement. He also said that when he takes in a build or work it is in and out in 5 days or less! Very Nice! Now don't go gumming up his work load till I get my stuff done!

A nice AK and forget about all the accoutrement! If your stuck on an AR I'd go with a 6.8 variety. It's perfect for your range, has the same ballistics as the .308 (within 500 yrds),land you can actually hunt more game with it than the 5.56. Just an all round more versatile caliber.

I think the slide appears wider due to the thinness of the grip. Looking at the numbers the P07 looks wider than other guns, but when they are side by side it's hard to tell any difference. I've been carrying mine for a few days now and it carries and conceal better than the G19 or Walther P99 I had (concealed OWB).

It's hard to argue self defense, which is the law regarding shooting, when the holes are in the guys back........ unless of course those are exit wounds!

Good thing about AK's it's hard to get a bad one. Saiga's are excellent choices, so are Bulgy's, Mak's, Maadi's, etc. The only ones you really have to look out for are some of the Romanian's or anything out of Century. Even with those the biggest problem you usually have is a canted sight and/or gas block. Which are easily fixed. Personally I'd take a Saiga and convert it right over time.

Just picked up the CZ P07 and it is fantastic. My personal opinion of the perfect carry gun. G19 size, 16+1 capacity, cane be DA/SA OR SA (ala 1911, Hi-Power), Is easily carried and at $418 you can get a nice holster and ammo all easily under your budget. If you are ever in Nashville, your more than welcome to try it out. Downsides ATM: holster choice is limited. Just a thought.

In my HCP class, they told us if we had to forcefully arrest then use the gun only until they couldn't see it then only make them think you still have it on them. Technically you can not hold at gunpoint, but you can forcefully detain in a citizen arrest if it's a felony.

I personally think the lone wolf barrels are a step sideways if not up. they are full supported and have traditional rifling, so lead is not an issue.

They are there to investigate the call. They have no way of knowing who's who and what exactly is going on. To assume is a good way for them to wind up dead or someone else after they leave. It's sad to say but as litigious as our society has become they are as paranoid about CYA as everybody else, if not more so.
