Pics of 7.62x39 with a 208 grain A-Max
Smith replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Eh, not from what I've read. Either way you're still talking about a sub 300 yrd gun and the energy and accuracy (depending on bullet) is relatively the same. Kinda 6 of one half-a-dozen of the other IMO. True there are more bullets in the .308 but the heavier bullets tend to negate to gains due to the limited case of the x39. Not knocking the idea as I am completley intrigued and think it is a great idea, I was just throwing out another option for the guy looking for something for his grandkids that already existed, offered more support, and had most of the benefits of what you are creating. -

While I love the 7.62x39 you might check out a .357 mag. Out of an 18" barrel the hotter load ballistics are also in the mid 30-30 range with next to nil recoil. My 8 yr old daughter loves my 92 in .357. Ruger makes a m77 in the caliber that is very compact and nice handling. -
In fairness Chris handled himself well but the other finalist did not. George threw a competition to advance Chris and they protected each other whether they deserved it or not eliminating better performers to protect their clique. They tainted the competition by taking the competition out of it. Chris didn't have much to do with it, but he did benefit from all of it.

You're buffer tube is a commercial not mil-spec if it is slanted, but that doesn't matter in this case. Turn the tube in there as much as you can without binding the pin and tighten it down.

True, but I was thinking more in terms of size.

The .45 M&P compact is not much larger than the .40/9 width wise. I'd take the .45 over the .40 especially in the compact. It is a nice handling gun. You gain nothing with the .40 over the .45 in the compact.

Well, Windhams are made by the guys who USE To make Bushmaster's, now as far as the new ones i can't say.

No, they will still have a wait. They had backlogs of 6+ months before many had ever heard of them. Of course nearly all the Ak builders had long backlogs, Tromix being the worst. At one point he had a 2 year wait on Saiga builds. As more foreign AK kits dry up, Saiga's become all thats left, and demand continues to rise (thanks Dems!) wait times and prices will only go up. Red Jacket will be around long after the show is gone IMO. Maybe, maybe not. Colt is not what they were. They have the same issue Red Jacket has ATM. People paying more for a name with moderate QC. Windaham is essentially a Bushmaster at a better price. Kinda the opposite of the Colt. Good quality without paying for the name.

The problem is how you quantify "power". There are so many variables it is hard to make apple to apple comparison. Generally though from what I've seen across the board 9mm through .45 are relativley identical in how much damage and "one stop shot" power they deliver to the target using their best loads. BTW the type of ammo and barrel length make a HUGE difference. Here is a chart that I've used as a general idea. It is not the only one but a good comparison. It does not account for some of the newer bullets on the market.

In the last couple years I'm told that Century is farming out a lot of their builds and quality has gone up significantly. Personally I think some of the Century problems have been over magnified by internet commandos. Yeah, I got it for a pretty good price. I thought about getting an Arsenal or convert a Saiga, but I could get 2 of the Tantals and a bunch of ammo for the same cost plus it's different. The Tantal parts of some of the best out there to begin with so Century had a great platform to start with. The Polish can build some great guns. The wire stock is definitely not for the match shooter but it looks cool and the unlocking mechanism is much better than many other options. The last Polish wire folder I had I wrapped in para cord and it helped a lot.

Always liked the idea of an AK74, but never found one to my liking. Well, since I got the 7.62x39 back in the fold, I decided to get a Tantal while I was at it. So far I like it. Haven't shot it and I hope it is one Century got correct. Serial number range is in the corrected series so I should be good. Can't decided if I want to swap the Tantal wire folder for the extra ACE skelton I've got in the closet or not. I've got some black HG waiting to swap out the existing HG. I like the performance of the 5.45 as well as the cheap ammo! Here she is. I'm officially an AK guy again!

That's just awesome!

The bulge is becasue Glocks don't use a fully supported chamber. It is also why when you see a Glock KB picture it is almost always a .40 S&W and reloads. .40's are maxed out pressure wise and the combo of the chamber and overpresurisition of the reloads that casue blowouts in the frame just below the chamber area. Personally I never understood the .40. It does some of what the 9mm does and some of what the .45 does but not the best parts of either. Not knocking it as it works just fine, but it doesn't give me anything special, difffernt, or better than the other standard calibers.

I carry my M&P in a Raven daily (copy at least). NTAC, SharkTac, AtomicDog, and Crown Holsters all make what you are looking for. I have used SharcTac and NTAc and have been well pleased with them. They are all esentially the same and use the same hardware. http://www.ntacholsters.com/store/WsDefault.asp?One=14 http://www.sharktac.com/ http://atomicdogholsters.com/Atomic/Main.html http://www.crownholsters.com/store/

I like the demo. Some folks, especially the newer guys, seem to have a hard time figuiring out how to post pics and leave out usefull info that the demo system seems to mandate. Go with the newer one. -
CDNN is a distributor who publishes and sells to individuals at wholesale prices. You'll find a lot of dealers (and rightly so) don't like them very much. That being said I've bought stuff from them that is hard to find. They seem to get a lot of the overstocks, blemishes, discontinued stuff ect.

Add to that it is more stable. It won't have any wobble to it like drop in HG tend to have. It also gives you more versatility and like others have said mostly .... it looks better. The exception is the Magpul MOE HG. Those things lock in there tight, don't wobble and give you the same versatilty with the added bonus of lighter weight and much cheaper cost. Only negative is the still put pressure on the barrel. I still like free float handguards though! Here are the Troy TRX rails I put on mine. Really light and you can add rails anywhere you want.

I can't recommend them highly enough! Great service! Yeah, the hood is a great place to pick up stuff off the record. I've found some great deals in the trunk of 70's Caddy's! J/K Carolina is great to deal with. Pick up just about everything there.

Could be the charges of "slavery" came out only after the maid was in fear of being deported. Happens fairly often. Just playing devils advocate here since it is easy to assume the wealthy parties guilt. Then again if you lie, cheat and steal to sneak into a country illegally and then expect everyone else to be upfront and honest with you, this will happen.

I had one of the P07's when they first came out and REALLY liked them. At the time I couldn't get holsters or sights or anything for it so I sold it. I would get another one if I had a need.
