  1. There is a misconception that all cops like guns. I have a relative that's a LEO and does; however, other LEOs he works with have said that they only carry because of a job requirement, only fire their guns during annual quals. Personally, I worked a private range and the less proficient and more careless were LEOs. Just speaking from my experiences. Sent from my LG-V410 using Tapatalk
  2. I also recommend contacting the State tourism dept. Advising taking vacation in SC or NC where TN residents' dollars are appreciated. Sent from my LG-V410 using Tapatalk
  3. I was just saying that the pols in VA don't give a hoot about TN so their folks need to put on the pressure to get this changed. If nothing affects them, why would they care about us? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Ridiculous - to get a VA nonresident all you have to do is mail in an application and a copy of DD-214 or proof of attending NRA basic firearm training. Pure politics. Recommend everyone write their reps and demand VA permits not accepted in TN. Good for the goose, good for the gander. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. My comment about shooting the leg was in deference to shooting into the ground which would not stop any serious threat.. Apparent the shooter did not want to/couldn't shoot center mass. Reminds me of the lady that told me she wanted a pretty gun that would scare someone because she couldn't hurt anyone. Told her to get a baseball bat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Called a pelvic shot. If done properly, splits the pelvis and instantly terminates use of the legs. Often occurs when the target isn't the pelvis but in the same area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Force escalation- use as much force as necessary to stop the threat. Should have shot him in the leg; if he kept coming, center mass. Period. Sent from my LG-V410 using Tapatalk
  8. All the points posted are why I live in Wilson County, although someone spilled the beans and the liberals are now moving in. Sent from my LG-V410 using Tapatalk
  9. I seem to remember in the Corps we just dropped all our cosmoline parts in a trashcan of boiling water for about three minutes, boiled off the cosmoline, rinsed with hot water and lubed. A dutch oven on the stove would serve rhe same purpose I suppose. Sent from my LG-V410 using Tapatalk
  10. If in Nashville, Greene Military on Lebanon rd just down the street from the police academy. Most metro go there due to them accepting contract purchases. Sent from my LG-V410 using Tapatalk
  11. Reminds me of an article about going Mexican. String loop, insert barrel, appendix carry. Misfire and become a Miss Fire. Sent from my LG-V410 using Tapatalk
  12. .22mag goes for $15-18 a box of 50 IF you can find it here in mid-tenn. Sent from my LG-V410 using Tapatalk
  13. Try Jeff at Guns & Leather in Greenbriar. Did magic on building my .22 1911 for a leftie. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Keep your shooter concealed, don't tell you got one and the points are moot. If you do have to use it, you are protected by the statute. Like a ranger told me - the law gives you permission to carry, not shoot or brandish; use some common sense. PS - leave the Glock sweatshirt at home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. The theory behind FMJ rounds was that a complete pass-through was more humane than a "dum-dum" bullet. Now they are concerned with where the pass-through bullet ends up. PS - FBI going back to 9mm since the ballistics have been improved and match .40 and less wear and tear on guns and shooters. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. the flyer was from Stoner Creek Elementary in Mt. Juliet.  If you copy what I posted above to a plain sheet of white paper, no heading, no footer,  no names, phone numbers,  no signature, you'll have the flyer.  I have already sent a copy via email to Mae Beavers and Worriedman. I talked with Mae and she said she would address it with a member of the school board. Hard to identify the person(s) responsible if no one puts his/her name on the document.
  17. What the flyer says:   Child Safety 5-6 years   **Remember, the biggest threat to your child's life and health is an injury**   • Car safety: Your child needs to be in a car seat, in the back seat every time he/she is in the car. A booster seat is not recommended until your child is at least 4 years old, 40 pounds, and can sit correctly in the seat for the entire car ride.   • Head injuries can be very dangerous. Be sure your child wears a bike helmet whenever he/she rides their bike!   • Supervision is still important - particularly when outside.   • We recommend being sure you have working smoke detectors at least on every level of your home. Also, be sure that your hot water heater is set to no more than 120 degrees. Have a fire plan for your family and practice it with your child.   • Second-hand smoke is dangerous for your child. If you want advice on how to limit your child's exposure - please ask his/her pediatrician.   • Even though your child is now old enough to take a shower or bath by themselves, they still need supervision - especially near a pool, lake, or river.   • It is best to keep all guns out of your home. But, if do you own a gun - be sure it is locked up and unloaded. Any child can be hurt or killed by a gun.   • Remember sun protection = hats and sunscreen when 'outside (and don't forget to reapply!).   • You should be talking with your child about stranger safety as well as good touch and bad touch.   • Even children this young are on the Internet - via computer or game console. Be sure your child is closely supervised and you are aware of what sites they are on.   You can find more safety and other information at: www.healthychildren.org
  18. HOW DO I POST A PDF FILE? IVE TRIED PASTE, IMAGE AND NOTHING SEEMS TO HAPPEN.
  19. My son has the document and he is in mt Juliet and I am in Kingsport. I'll get it from him later this week and post.
  20. My grandson's packet had a flyer that states that "it would be better that there were no firearms in the home, but if you must, they should be under lock and key and away from children". Subtle way of pushing their liberal views using the official school position.
  21. A HCP is a State granted priviledge not Federal. Still illegal to carry on Federal property, including not not limited to, buildings and parking lots. The recent parking lot law specifically exempts Federal property from the law.
  22. No, that is any firearm and would be considered trafficking. Unless you're a gunrunner for Obama/Holder/ATF, then by all means carry on your patrotic duty... :yuck: I was partially right. A FFL can sell to someone out of State per ATF but their website says: 2. May I lawfully transfer a firearm to a friend who resides in a different State? Under Federal law, an unlicensed individual is prohibited from transferring a firearm to an individual who does not reside in the State where the transferee resides. Generally, for a person to lawfully transfer a firearm to an unlicensed person who resides out of State, the firearm must be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) within the recipient’s State of residence. He or she may then receive the firearm from the FFL upon completion of an ATF Form 4473 and a NICS background check. More information can be obtained on the ATF website at www.atf.gov and http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/unlicensed-persons.html. The GCA provides an exception from this prohibition for temporary loans or rentals of firearms for lawful sporting purposes. Thus, for example, a friend visiting you may borrow a firearm from you to go hunting. Another exception is provided for transfers of firearms to nonresidents to carry out a lawful bequest or acquisition by intestate succession. This exception would authorize the transfer of a firearm to a nonresident who inherits a firearm under the will of a decedent. See 18 U.S.C. 922(a)(5).
  23. Training Day - chase the bad guy holding two 1911s then stopping to rack the slides. Guess LAPD can't carry loaded chambers
  24. If I am correct, under Federal law, selling across State lines only applies to handguns. You can buy and sell long guns across State lines unless the purchaser's State has other laws.
  25. Since TN doesn't have gun registration, how did the cops know where to go to see who bought it? Know where buddy #1 bought it? Wife must have pointed them at buddy #1?
