  1. Awesome thing sir! I will be tuning in for sure. Do us proud
  2. By all means a 30-30 is more than capable of taking a deer efficiently within certain limits . I don't have much against the 30-30 i just prefer my ah-6
  3. Back to the original post, did you ever go back to look for the deer? Was it ever found?
  4. I will hunt for the sheds a little later maybe sometime in mid February.
  5. "more deer killed with a 30-30" Heard that all my life as well, however i would be willing to bet that statistic has shifted over the past decade or two to either a 270 or a 30-06. An opinion seconded by one of the recent hunting/gun mags. the 30-30 is a very popular rifle due largely in part to the fact that so darn many of them were made. It's been around quite a long time and as far as rifles go its still quite inexpensive. I've had one, and don't like it. range is quite limited- 100 yards and closer, the velocity and power leave a lot to be desired, and the trajectory somewhat resembles that of an artillery shell. YES lots of animals have been harvested with one and it continues to be a viable choice for whitetail deer. im a big fan of "match the caliber to the conditions" and im not saying the 30-30 is that bad however... there are other calibers that outperform the 30-30 by such a wide margin it just doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to use one in this day and age. and besides Remington is the main one i use, but winchester and federal have them too... online ballistics tables that allow you to compare up to a few different cartridges at once. select similar bullet types and weights and run a 30-30 vs. a 30-06 and compare. run it vs. a .300 win mag for an even more dramatic result. http://www.remington.com/products/ammunition/ballistics/
  6. 16+1. I figured that is all i need unless i am some place where i am not suppose to be. If the latter was the case then i would have went with a few extra magazines and more than just a handgun.
  7. "....i won't have to worry about putting gas in my car, i won't have to worry about paying my mortgage, (i wouldn't have to worry about anything), ya know....if i help him he's gon help me" http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16846
  8. 30-06 for me and 30-06 is the way it will be as the tradition goes
  9. Oh and i guess the Xd is just a personal preference for me too . Don't want to stir up any debate between springfield xd's and glocks .
  10. . Whether you decide to get the 9mm or .40 cal is a personal preference. Personally, i would go with the 9mm because 1)higher capacity, 2)cheaper ammunition, 3)I have a few firearm that fires 9mm and it would be easy for me to consolidate, 4)i put my trust in the 9mm to get the job done.
  11. I agree. When i was a child and my mom would take me around town with her to run errands, i used to think that the people outside the liquor stores and other various places were indeed zohhhmmbiees!
  12. I just saw this for the first time yesterday. A friend sent it too me. Some of y'all may have seen this before. I will post anyways for those who haven't. It is a good laugh and show of ignorance. [ame] [/ame]
  13. Go back, if you can, to the last spot that you trailed him to. Then try find him by walking 20-30rds around that area and maybe further if you find any signs that the weather didn't wash off. The same thing happened to me earlier this muzzle loader season. i didn't find the deer until gun season when i was trailing another one and saw dried blood on the stumps of small trees. I followed the blood and found my guy. The meat was already bad, but non the less i did find him. I feel you pain man. I know what its like to shoot a deer and not find it. Don't give up yet. There's still time to keep looking.
  14. When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist. When they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat. When they came for the trade unionists, I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist. When they came for the Jews, I remained silent; I was not a Jew. When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out.
  15. Hello from Memphrica! Welcome to TGO!
  16. Wow great story. I'm glad everything worked out for you the way it did.
  17. Well i mean it isn't exactly a problem but i was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I would also like to know if they continued using the magazine without any failure.
  18. I recently found out that my service xd's magazine could hold 17 rounds instead of the usual 16 rounds. What gives? Does anyone else have this problem? I went to the range and actually loaded all 17 rounds in the magazine, the slide came back fine and it loaded and fed just fine.
