  1.   Some things are better left unsaid.....   With that being said I'll generally try to avoid said business but as commented in another thread it happens so rarely that I find a business that I need to enter is posted other than the Post Office which my closest one is posted on the same bulletin board where folks put up their little garage sales fliers over the firearms posting.... LOL
  2.   I'd say with gang bangers its shot placement as the reason; that or their too dam stupid to die when shot, you know like a chicken running around with its head cut off.....   One of the guns that I carry is an ATI Titan (1911 Compact) in .45 ACP is is a solid 2 pounds of security; yet with a good holster and belt you can all but forget its there....
  3.   I said the exact same thing.... No matter if it's bad publicity it is still publicity and it nets interest and interest equals notoriety.
  4. This sure makes building an AR pistol that much more interesting! I'll soon have a striped lower from a botched group buy @ MGO in hand that I have no idea what to do with as I've already got both an AR Carbine and AR Rifle as well as an AK pistol collecting safe dust... But a shoulder-able yet legal AR pistol would be very cool to build and own. We can't yet have an SBR in MI but I'm hoping to move from here soon anyway.
  5.   I don't really watch TV and I don't watch any show with any regularity and for the most part I can't stand reality shows except for DD as at least it is funny and reasonably down to earth; of course I believe that much of it is scripted to some degree but least it is worlds better than Keeping up with Kardumbions or Honey Dumbo..... I figure that this family like many others knows that their 15 minutes of fame is only going to last just so long so they are going to milk it for all it's worth; it's just icing on their cake anyway as DC is still their's and is gaining popularity due to DD....
  6.   As I have interest in moving to TN this year I've got to ask where and why if you don't mind?
  7.   Indiana has no such regulation and in fact has one of the easiest permit systems to be found in that you can get a "Lifetime" permit for something like 60.00 dollars and no live fire or classroom requirements; but 23 states do not recognize the IN permit either.
  8.   Some states do have a requirement that you qualify with any and all weapons that you intend to carry; CA is the only one that I know of as I've a friend who lives somewhere in CA and he had to show proficiency in each weapon he intended to carry under his permit.
  9.   Ok first off I am not a TN resident just yet so I don't yet fully know or understand your laws but what does seem to be common is that instructors in different states do have a very common trait and that trait is that they talk out of their bum and don't know WTF they are talking about as that comment is one of the dumbest statements I've heard to date....
  10.   I choose not to believe in wives tales.... I believe that repetition is what weakens a spring. With that being said I keep all mags loaded at all times except for a stash of extra AR & AK mags...
  11. BTW thanks for all the intel you guys are providing and for the friendly banter too! I'll make it into the other forums sooner or later as I really am a gun owner too... LOL   Have 9 handguns; mostly 1911's and an old S&W model 10 a couple AR rifles, an AK47 as well as AK pistol too....
  12.   Don't get me wrong we do love and enjoy the mountains and driving around them too; I've just got to try and avoid putting her into an area that has the really tight curves and blind hills as no matter if I love the stink out of the roads she will not and I'm gone at least half to two thirds of the year with work.
  13.   And here we thought that MI was the state of perpetual road construction or deterioration anyway; our roads are nothing but frost heaves and another coat of chip and tar.... Some roads I can't stand to ride on my bike anymore as it just jars my bladder into submission!
  14.   Well dat does bite.... From what I've seen from driving through I do like the eastern areas of Tn; we will be coming down in mid March for a serious look see at the towns outside of Nashville and planned to take a look around the Knoxville area too....
  15. My general criteria is to be no more than two hours from an international airport or major hub and less than 1 hour from a decent regional airport as it gives me the option of being able to fly to and from work or drive back to Mi for meeting up with the vessel I work on.
  16. Ok so what is considered the Tr-Cites? Never mind I figured it out.... Bristol area... We have spent several vacations in the NC Maggie Valley, Sylva area and just loved it, but my wife is not a big fan of the hilly twisting roads that are so common.
  17. Ha.... Given my dithers I'd be moving outside of Sedona AZ but then we knew that we would never see our grand children unless we either sent back to MI or paid for the airfair for a soon to be 5 seats.... This is why central TN was selected as it is but a 500 odd mile drive either way and can be easily accomplished in less than one day. So I'll just do my best to select an area that gets the least as possible.
  18. Thanks PJ little tidbits such as this are what I'm looking for. We want to avoid dealing with ice and snow as much as we can beyond looking at a couple inches that the sun takes of for ya in a few hours.
  19. Zillow has a great web site to for looking at both homes for sale as well as rentals which I'm looking at too so that we can try out an area before buying into it even before we sell our home here.
  20. Any first hand comments about Crossville? While I see that it has a lot of golf courses which I could care less about it does appear to be an interesting town with lots of water features etc...
  21. Sorry to disappoint but no "Dam Yankee" here, born and breed down in Houma LA so I still consider myself a full fledged Cajun; I use Tabasco Pepper Sauce on dam near everything but ice cream.... I came to the Great Lakes nearly 20 years ago seeking better pay than I was finding in the Gulf of Mexico as a boat engineer. Not only did I find a really good company to work for I found a good woman to settle in with too, so the rest is history.... While I don't mind working in the cold temps that we have up here on the Great Lakes along with my wife I've grown tired of the long sloppy snow season that forces you inside with little desire to do much of anything except watch TV till the roads clear up in March or April; tired of having to pack away the yawn furniture and fire pit in lue of a snow shovel and snow blower.....
  22. LOL sending you a hardy welcome from another MGO member with the same thought process as you except our move is not job dependent... Yes same screen name applies....
  23. We definitely like the Nashville "area" as it offers the shortest route back up north or vice versa for visiting the kids and grand kids too... Plus the airport if I decide to fly for work and/or vacation etc.
  24. Hey guys thanks for the reply and the welcome too... MJ as well as Lebanon are indeed in the running too. We are planning on taking a trip down in mid March to have a serious look around and while we might not pick out a house I hope to least pick some locals that we like and would not mind living in. So much to figure out and even more to get accomplished to make this happen come spring/summer time....
  25. Hello Tennessee, I sure could appreciate some input from you folks. My wife and I are thinking real hard about moving down to Tennessee as we have had enough of the 4 to 5 months of crappy sunless Michigan winters. We are not needing to move due to work as my job as an Engineer on board a Great Lakes Freighter allows me the freedom of traveling to and from just about anywhere. I'm looking for your thoughts on areas outside Nashville such as Hendersonville or Gallatin as well as Knoxville, perhaps even Crossville or even Sharps Chapel area. I'd hope to find an area that is not completely isolated but we also have no desire to be in a busy city either. As to who and what I'm made of well I'm just north of 50 and I'm no fan of the current administration, I really like 1911's as well as AR and AK rifles too. Talk to me.....
