  1. Which Aimpoint do you have and how much does the effect bug you?
  2. At the proper angle, with my glasses on, the dot is absolutely fine for this optic. However, 22mm is a little too small to look through for me so I'm going to look at other options.   @Smith: Yup, I most likely do. @Threeeighty: Definitely one of the considerations : ) @Oh Shoot: I've had a few other people look through it that I know, I was having issues with having my head/glasses positioned properly. @Ted: I'm focusing on the target with both eyes open, not on the dot itself.   Thanks all!
  3. Alright, I think I figured it out. Testing without glasses, the dot looks like a bunch of grapes. With glasses it's as it should be, but since I have smaller frames and lenses, if I drop my head to a certain angle, I get a clear dot and an awful distorted pattern right near it (I thought it was flare, a defect, or just my poor eyes). Proper angle with my glasses and all is well.... That being said, I may look for a red dot with a better FOV, I knew the TRS was going to be tiny, but it's a bit much.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if I do. I'll be returning this one and seeing if there are any that do play nicely (local shop has Vortex, Eotech, and Aimpoint). Otherwise, it's scope time.
  5. Hmm, my TRS-25 arrived today and I turned it on and took a peek...instead of a fairly clear red dot I see a mess of little dots in a blob pattern. I do wear glasses, so I know my eyes are not perfect. Took them off and on and no difference. Time to visit one of the local shops this weekend to see if this is just the way my eyes perceive red dot sights. Either way, I don't think little Bushnell will work for me. I remember using a different one on a friend's gun and didn't seem to have an issue at all (I think it was possibly a Sightmark on the little M&P15-22). Sad days. Thoughts?   PS - I took a pic through the scope with my iPhone and the dot is flawless.
  6. I'm looking at one of the Leupolds for down the road. I was at Bass Pro last week looking at a few scopes and I was squinting at some of the prices. Then I had a reality check: I shoot with Nikon camera lenses...why in the hell does spending up to $500 on a rifle scope with good glass seem unreasonable?  :screwy:
  7. I'm looking at buying one of their pistol safes soon. Freakin' tanks.
  8. Same here. I don't really uncork the peat stacks in the summer months. Balvenie owns those. During the Fall, the bourbons start to come out and the cognac has a gentleman's duel with the Islay bottles throughout the cold season.
  9. Good man! I like Islay bottlings, Highlanders, and some Speysiders. Current favs: Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Talisker, Clynelish, Balvenie, Highland Park, and Dalmore.   If you get a chance, you should try Talisker Storm. It destroys the 10 year, in my opinion.
  10. +1 FM! How is Cellar compared to the rest of the Frog Morton range? I love that stuff and that's all I've been smoking for awhile now .
  11. Cheers! What's your favorite scotch/whiskey?
  12. I think I still have my grandfather's pipe somewhere around here...it's a meerschaum pipe and broken, but still pretty cool (even if I can't smoke it).
  13. I really like the English and Balkan blends too

  15. Welcome Caleb!   Springfield Armory has a nice basic 1911 - the Mil-Spec - that's pretty close to the original GI model. Seems to run around $700-$750. Although, that Rock Island offering is pretty tempting for down the road:   http://centerfiresystems.com/ac-ri1911taca.aspx
  16. I was considering the Bersa or Walther for concealed carry considering I'm fairly skinny, but this looks to offer a larger caliber in roughly the same size. This has my attention
  17. There's about one drink left in my bottle of Ledaig 10...I think I should finish it off tonight :D
  18.   +1 xjsnake regarding pipe shape. Peterson makes a "p-lip" mouthpiece on some of their pipes which has the vent hole on top of the mouthpiece to help with tongue bite. Some other factors regarding the issue:   · Speed of puffing (try slowing down and see if that helps) · How the bowl was packed · Some blends just tend to burn hot (aromatics seemed to more so than the english blends)
  19. C'mon, I know you have them. Here's mine: + HD Image + HD Image
  20. I have lights from Surefire, EagleTac, and Streamlight. Surefire has my business for life though (as long as the quality doesn't slip).
  21. This has saved me so much time and money: www.ammoseek.com
  22. Vortex: Strikefire or Sparc Bushnell: TRS-25 Primary Arms: Micro Dot, Classic 30mm
  23. I bought mine through Gallery of Guns via the Gun Genie. I think I paid ~$530 new (including transfer fees, background check, etc). However, I added an Apex FSS (polymer) and night sights later. +HD Image
