  1. I had the original Shield and liked it a lot. When the SIG P365 came out, the added ammo capacity seemed too good to pass up, so I got a P365 and let the Shield go on to one of my sons. When the Shield Plus came out, I went back to it and sold the SIG. I now have both the 3.1-inch and 4-inch versions of the Shield Plus. They have better triggers than the original Shields. Otherwise, they shoot much the same. HTH, Whisper
  2. I need room in the safe, so here are two old-school carry guns ready for adoption. These are a couple of classics that in very good condition and with lots of life left in them. 1. S&W .457 .45 ACP -- It's been eclipsed now by the Shield .45, but for a while this was the smallest and lightest .45 ACP that S&W offered. Bobbed hammer and one-sided safety show this was designed to be carried as discreetly as it was possible for a .45 with the same capacity as a full-size 1911. The main criticism of these guns in the used market today is that it they don't share magazines with many other S&W semiautos, so mags aren't plentiful and are frighteningly expensive when you can find them. (There are some for sale on GB right now for more than $150 each.) But fear not -- Uncle Whisper has you covered. This little gem comes with five magazines, so you don't have to worry how you'll get more if you lose one. If you lose four, then you'll be in trouble, but you're not that careless, are you? $575 to a TN resident legally able to purchase handguns. PENDING 2. SIG P239 9mm -- I sold my other P239s but held onto this one because it has the Von Stavenhagen sights that I prefer on SIGs, but now it's time to let it go as well. This one has Hogue G10 grips because I thought the OEM plastic grips were just a bit too small and slick. It's a great-handling little gun. The P239 hasn't been discontinued that long, and magazines are still available from all the usual places, but this gun is well prepared already -- it has four factory SIG magazines; three standard-size magazines plus a 10-round extended mag. PLUS, as an added bonus -- three brand new recoil springs, ensuring that you have both plenty of mags and recoil springs to keep this gun running for decades. INDEPENDENCE DAY PRICE REDUCTION -- $525 to a TN resident legally able to purchase handguns. I live in Chattanooga and will travel a reasonable distance for a deal. Trades considered, but I'm not really looking for much these days except a 12-gauge Browning Automatic 5, which I want for an SBS conversion, or a Marlin 336 in .30-30. I probably don't need any more ARs or plastic handguns Thanks for looking, Whisper
  3. Where did you hear this? My wife and I have used a cast iron skillet on a glass top stove for years. Cooked bacon that way just yesterday.
  4. Gun closet cleanout -- I'm guessing this stuff is classified as Non-firearms, but if Gear is a better description, please move it, esteemed moderators. 1. Two INERT MK2 hand grenades, the old WW2 "pineapples," with INERT (used) M228 fuses. These are fun as desk decorations or as paperweights, or if you just need more practice in throwing grenades. And don't we all? $10 each. 2. INERT cluster bomb munition BLU3, as used in the Vietnam War. Another fine desk decoration or paperweight. $15. 3. INERT 30mm cannon projectile (bullet), aluminum dummy with plastic driving bands. Think how great this would look on your office desk, or in your reloading room. $5. 4. Two MGW brand sight adjustment tools; #318 for S&W M&P, #319 for S&W Shield and Shield Plus. For removal, adjustment, and installation of front and rear sights. These are wonderful tools and probably the best sight pushers on the market; their only drawback is that the work only for specific guns. Lightly used; I got an MGW Sight Pro when they first came out and it replaced all my other sight pushers. $50 each; I'll sell the pair for $90. 5. USGI wooden box for MK3 hand grenades. I used this to store extra magazines, but you could put about anything in this sturdy box. You or your wife need a jewelry box? This is it. Or if you're handy, it might be fun to convert to an end table for your home office or game room. (MK2 hand grenades shown in the box not included; they're just there for scale.) $30. 6. Two Benchmade Nimravus fixed blade knives, black with black nylon sheaths. These are unused but have no boxes and show light handling marks. Look at the price of new ones and you'll see that these are a real steal. $50 each. SOLD For sale locally in Chattanooga unless you're wanting to buy all these items, in which case I'd drive a reasonable distance. Could also arrange to meet a potential buyer at the Camp Jordan Gun Show on June 28. Thanks for looking, Whisper
  5. New Tisas is here. Any ideas about someone who can make it more better? Thanks, Whisper
  6. I believe you're thinking of George Orwell. Orson Welles is more known for his quote, "Is there any more of that pie left?"
  7. Another bump, with more relaxed trading options. Thanks for looking, Whisper
  8. Stephen King is an imaginative and generally excellent writer. Too bad he's also a whining communist with an extreme case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (Type 1). But there are a lot of entertainers and professional athletes with the same characteristics. It doesn't detract from their ability to do some things well. Just don't look to them for guidance in anything outside their professions. Cheers, Whisper
  9. I have one of the Tisas 1911s on the way from Palmetto State Armory and I want to get a few things done to it -- stipple the front strap, install better fixed sights, and just generally check it out to make sure it's functioning flawlessly. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks, Whisper
  10. As long as there are employers who are willing to hire illegals, they'll keep coming. Neither political party will do anything to impose penalties on those employers, and we all know why. And thus the illegal immigration problem continues.
  11. There used to be organized matches there, back maybe six or eight years ago (and maybe farther back than that; time passes quickly these days). They shot monthly IDPA matches there, although the rules sometimes deviated from the IDPA rulebook. Don't recall what group used to run them. I also attended a combat shotgun match there once, and it was much fun despite being held in steady rain. Haven't been there in quite a while now. Cheers, Whisper
  12. Man, I love that Tisas 1911. Not crazy about the holster or else I'd be buying that rig. I may be inspired to make similar grips for one of my own 1911s. Beautiful gun.
  13. Man, this is a real deal. If I wasn't already flush with VP9s, I'd jump on this. Cheers, Whisper
  14. I get to Memphis about once a year; was just there in March, so not likely I'll be there anytime soon. Sorry. But maybe you want to visit Chattanooga and See Rock City? Thanks, Whisper
  15. Back to the top. If you don't need this great little .22, someone in your family probably does.
