    "Hammer Follow"

The only way I can come up with (and this is kind of a long shot) is if the disconnect is bumping the sear when the disconnect is pushed back down by the slide because and the trigger bow has pushed it back too far angling it toward the sear. It's possible depending on the shape of sear and disconnect the is being used.

    "Hammer Follow"

I can't think of a single way the overtravel screw being backed out too far could cause hammer follow. And if you are not sure how to adjust DO NOT SHOOT IT until you have done so. You can completely ruin your sear hammer relationship. Here is a link on how to adjust it. Click on magazine articles and then trigger tuning. Brazos Custom
  3. I don't care for their power extractor. Many are putting sleeves in their guns so they can use better extractors. But, when they work they work. I just like the flexibility of using better extractors like EB's, Wilsons and Aftecs in my guns and unless you sleeve it you are stuck with the pxt.
  4. That is a first. I have met most of those guys, and have been using STI products for many years and never heard anything remotely like that. I would love to hear the particulars in a pm.
  5. Brown shirts were Hitler's small group of soldiers that did his dirty work. Stay away from my kids comment is (I believe) addressing obama's comments on how the government needs to be responsible for our kids from birth to after college.
  6. IMO, I would never spend 3k-3.5k on a 1911 that is at best semi-custom. You can build a 1911 with the best parts on the planet, have one of the five or six best smiths in the US build it for you and you will come in under 3k. If I were going semi-custom I would buy a Baer or a Brown or even a Nighthawk. My experience with Wilson has been less than desired as of late.
  7. +1 Plus if administrations would focus on reform that an overwhelming majority of americans can support they wouldn't need to fear the people. And this is a reaction due to fear.
  8. Limited guns are built not to lock back almost 100% of the time so that could be the reason. I didn't see a finger in the trigger guard. You must have better eyes than me. But that is very young. It's a single stack for sure. When you look at the mags.
  9. Judging by the cases coming out it looks like he is shooting 40 loaded down to minor.
  10. I just saw representative Blackburn on Fox news and I would just like to say how fortunate I feel to have such a well spoken, intelligent kindred of spirit to represent us. Thank God for a voice of reason in a sea of insanity. Thank you Marsha.
  11. This is the very reason I have hunted very little since moving to TN.
  12. The big question is are these folks getting any public money?
  13. Para has a bunch of 14+1 45's and My STI 4 inch with the right followers are 15+1. And my STI is not a custom gun and does not have an extended mag.
  14. There are tons of 14+1 and 15+1 45s out there.
  15. Hmmmm.......... I don't think Gabe would have been in prison for telling people about Jesus. And I don't think Paul and Silas would have crossed the lines that good ole' Gabe did.
  16. While I do agree with some of what he says, I wouldn't take anything this guy says too seriously. Seems old Gabe was video taped while on workers comp jumping and rolling around in one of his "classes". This is the same guy who has started one of his courses by standing next to a target and having one of his instructors shoot rounds next to his head with an AK to "keep me sharp." SMPD Officers Charged With Fraud Clara Sturak Associate editor On Friday, March 2, two Santa Monica Police Officers were arrested in connection with conspiracy to defraud the City of Santa Monica through Workers Compensation fraud. Officers Jason Comer and Gabriel Suarez were arrested along with Suarez' wife Cheryl Suarez. According to a press release issued by the Public Information Office of the Santa Monica Police Department, the three were charged after a "long term and intensive investigation" on the part of the Department's Internal Criminal Unit, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office, and the California State Department of Insurance. Comer, 32, a six-year veteran, and Suarez 40, a twelve year veteran, along with Mrs. Suarez, are charged with four criminal counts, explains Deputy District Attorney Craig Omura, who led the DA's portion of the investigation. "Count one is conspiracy to commit workers compensation fraud, count two is workers compensation fraud, count three is money laundering, and count six is grand theft, because the money they obtained was over $400." Counts four and five, both for perjury, apply only to Officer Suarez, in regards to false depositions he gave in March and June of 2000. Details of the case have not yet been released. The investigation, says Omura, has been going on since October of 2000, when the SMPD became aware of possible criminal activity. "They brought the information to [the District Attorney's office] in November of 2000. At that time we began a three-pronged investigation with the Santa Monica Police and the State Department of Insurance." SMPD did the most of the investigative footwork, according to Omura, consulting with the other two departments as to "what elements [they] needed to prove." The charges and subsequent arrests were not made public until March 7, with an interdepartmental memo sent by SMPD Chief James T. Butts. Although there has been concern that some City officials were not made aware of the situation until several days following the arrests, Judy Rambeau, Assistant to the City Manager states that the City Manger's office was aware of the investigation from its beginnings. "The City Manager is always alerted when something like this is going on," said Rambeau in an interview on Monday. "That doesn't mean we have all of the details as the investigation proceeds. The police need to keep tight control over who knows what's happening at any given time." In fact, that's exactly why City officials were not informed. Chief Butts' memo states that "there are other long-term investigations concerning potential fraudulent application for Workers Compensation benefits by other members of the department that continue." SMPD Public Information Officer Captain Gary Gallinot confirmed in a telephone interview with the Mirror that, "it was our intent that the investigations be entirely wrapped up before we went public." But, says Gallinot, the District Attorney's office felt they had enough information to go forward, and "since they are the prosecuting authority, it was up to them." Once any arrest is made it becomes a matter of public record. However, the SMPD did not issue a statement on the day of the arrests. According to Gallinot, "the reason [the arrests weren't] made public is because we did not want to jeopardize the ongoing investigations. Once we realized it was going to be made public , our strategy had to change, and notifications were made." Gallinot could not comment on the ongoing investigations, except to say that they are "specific" in nature, and that the DA's office is involved. "It's important to note," he said, "that this investigation was started by our police department. We are vigorously involved in the discipline and prosecution of misconduct [on the part] of our employees. If you don't look for misconduct or criminal activity, you seldom find it. The fact that we do so shines a positive light on our institutional integrity." Jason Comer, Gabriel Suarez and Cheryl Suarez are scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, March 14. If convicted, Jason Comer and Cheryl Suarez could serve maximum prison sentences of 5 years, 8 months, and Gabriel Suarez could serve a maximum of 7 years, 8 months.
  17. I would just like to say that I was wrong about ke and momentum being the same thing and would like to apologize. After some checking it does seem that foot pounds and ke are the same thing not ke and momentum, My bad, it has been 25 years since I have given this much thought or sat in any math class and I had it wrong. So sorry. I believe in being big enough to admit when I'm wrong. Although it is painful. That being said, I would also like to add that FPE has almost no effect until almost 2000 fp. This is what the old timers called knock down power or shock power. You see it when you shoot a whitetail in the front shoulder and they go down as if you turned them off with a light switch. The wound to their boiler room has not had time to kill them but their central nervous system is disrupted and hence they pile up immediately. A carry gun at best will only generate 400-500 fpe and so I continue to believe as the FBI study I posted concluded, that when it comes to handguns, penetration and size of permanent wound channel are what truly matter. Again, I would like to apologize for getting things turned around and coming off as an asshat. I'm really not that guy.
  18. Man, I guess we better get our boots on......it's getting deep in here.
  19. Well, it was Sunday after church and my schedule was my own. I should have done anything else.
  20. OK since you just want to be a jerk. We can take the gun out of it. Let's take a pepper popper and calibrate it to just past the point so your 9 can no longer knock it down. Then lets see what happens when I shoot it with my 45. That's right. I've seen this happen a hundred times at USPSA matches. The only person having trouble knocking the steel down is the guy shooting factory 9 ammo usually 124 or 147. I think that is a pretty good example of mass and velocity at work weather you want to think of it in terms of ke or momentum.
  21. So, both ke and momentum uses mass and speed right? So the more energy an object has per ke the more momentum it will have. Increase the numbers in either mass or speed and both the ke and momentum are changed in the same direction. This is why I said for our purposes. We are really splitting hairs here. Silly really.
  22. First you were the one to change the numbers that you posted not me. Secondly, winchester white box chronos out of my 1911 with a spread from 897-920 fps depending on the day and conditions. My handloads will reach 900 very easily without pushing the pressure at all. You were the one that referred to foot pounds and KE in the same sentence as if they were the same thing. Not me. Both KE and momentum are ways to consider energy of a moving object and that is why I said "same thing for our purposes". My example of recoil was fine. I said take "two glocks" (they weigh the same basically) then shoot the two calibers, that way you can feel the energy comparison. So why don't you load your 30-30 round in a snubby (wow imagine that gun) and see what recoils more. But I would love to see your math. Here are some conversion tables and if you use your original numbers you will get the same answers I did.
