  1. Richard:   This is a great point; thank you for makin it:   I've watched with great interest the political scene in the "old Rhodesia" --- now Zimbabwe and more recently South Africa; as well as here in the good ole USA since the seventies.  My interest wuz peaked in the africa thing because we had dear childhood friends whose parents were missionaries to Rhodesia until they had to leave the country for their safety in the seventies.    What happened in both places is exactly what you are sayin here; and it was done with the help of international pressure from the US State Department, the socialists, demigogues, political opportunists, would be dictators, and the race-baiters under the guise of "equal rights" for all.  The fact is that nothing could be farther from the truth.  It was a coup pure and simple carried out at the ballot box with international sanction by the liberal world community that has resulted in the murder of the economy and many of the original settlers who, in fact, founded these countries and made them productive; lifting the standard of living for everybody; both black and white.    We can quibble about how "fair" things were in the old days in Rhodesia and South Africa; but there is no doubt that things are much worse now.  The government (...both South African, US, European socialist, and others...) are currently turning a blind eye to the murder of the Afrikanners in South Africa and they are "redistributing" the property of the poor diseased souls to their political buddies.   Folks in this country are praising socialist thugs like Nelson Mandella, compairing him to George Washington when nothing could be farther from the truth.  The truth is that he wuz (...and still is, sadly, he's still alive...) the leader of a bunch of thug rabble that murdered anyone, black or white, that didnt see things their way.  Make no mistake, Nelson Mandella and his accomplices are behind the murder and thuggery thats goin on in South Africa today.  They are far worse than the Apartied" that they replaced.  All people in these countries are poorer, less free, and less safe now than they were to begin with.   Rhodesia used to be the "breadbox of africa".  Now it's a poor dictatorship that had one election and a constitution that aint worth the paper it's written on.  I've come to believe that there are elements in academia and in the black community that see this model ALA South Africa and Zimbabwe as an "ok" thing for this country; as much as it troubles me to say it.  They are tenured in places like UCLA and the University of Chicago, and other places around the country and are free to spew this venom to all that are willing to listen to it.  Its also being preached in some churches in this country as well as on the street corners of some communities in the inner city by folks like the Nation of Islam.  Make no mistake; the "social gospel" is the same stuff.  It postulates that "mean european whites" stole everything from the poor folks of color and that whatever means necessary are ok to right that wrong from long ago.   That is exactly what you are seeing in the policies now favored by the Obama administration.   Havin said that, i dont believe it will work here because of the demographic (...black vs white...) ratios.  South Africa is 90% plus black.  The only places that are safe down there now are the diamond and gold mine operations that have big fences around them and guys with guns watchin them.  I also suspect that wherever the Red Chinese are operating (...they have some serious interest in mining in africa...), things are pretty safe; and we all know why.   I know that all this is "tinfoil hat" stuff to lots of folks; and they may blow it off as the ramblings of a nutty old coot that has too much time on his hands and a suspicious mindset.  All i would ask of anybody that reads it is to take a look at what is goin on in these places and look at what's happening here.   You just may turn into a nutty old bird yourself.  Do i think it will work here?  No....  Do i think there are disturbing parallels?  Yes....   From the bunker on the hillside. leroy
  2. I dont think anyone "wants to shoot anyone"...  That is very serious business and i believe most adults with some modicum of reasonability about them fully understand the terrible consequences for all involved with this sort of thing.    What i do believe is happening is that the forebearance and "cup of kindness" and  brotherly concern and compation  that most hard workin folks used to have for their brother and sister citizens has evaporated.  The "dole" and the overbearing rhetoric coming out of the race-baiters, their weak minded children, the main stream media, and sourland politicos have polarized the country as bad as ive ever seen; and im a relatively old man.     People are simply tired of being badgered because they work and have a few things, are tired of being called bigots, tired of havin their pockets picked by the government, tired of government operatives opressing them and turning a blind eye to certain behaviors by some citizens; while wrongly persecuting others, and having the "on the dole" crowd demanding things or else they will tear somethin up or "kill whitey".     I think people are on edge and in their heart of hearts do not believe that this country is a color blind place of equal opportunity for all, nor a place of safety as it's presently being governed; nor do they believe that this county as it is currently constituted is is the place that it was envisioned to be even a generation ago.   They are concerned for themselves, their families, their property, and their neighbors.     They are wary of their government and their fellow citizens who are breathing out threats against them.   I dont think anyone who works for a living will "look for trouble". I do believe that those who say "....were goin to burn, kill, and maim ALA the South African model...." better be damn careful where they decide to do it.   I simply do not believe that people will sit idly by and have what they have worked for destroyed by these "children of lower estate" and their thug accomplices.   Ole Charley Manson may not have been as crazy as he seemed when he talked about the comming race war. He may have been a visionary; seeing far into the future.  I think that folks need to understand what has been preached in places like the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's church in Chicago; is not a message of brotherly love and christian kindness.  It has been quite the opposite.  The last thing that the 'social gospel" is is the preaching of brotherly kindness and love.  And, the truth is that the Rev. Jeremiah Wright aint the only preacher in the black community sayin these things.  You add the Black Panther dimension to this stuff; plus the race-baiters, and demigogue polititians and you get what we've got.   You add the permissive blind eye post-civil war reconstruction selective prosecution atmosphere created by Eric Holder, and you simply embolden these folks to act on these evil impulses.  I think more and more people are realizing this and are becomming alarmed by it.  I think they well should be.  Do i think there will be trouble here?  Will there be trouble in other places?  Probably so.   leroy

  4. We need to lighten up:   How about this: ".....He who thinks great thoughts, often makes great errors ...."   Martin Heidegger  This guy had to be talkin about us here on the forum...    Courtesy of here: http://www.philosophybasics.com/general_quotes.html   Havin borrowed that: My personal favorite aint in the lineup above; but it goes something like this: "... It is the mark of maturity to consider and examine an idea without embracing or believing it...."    For some reason i think one of the greek philosophers said it.    Remember, consider everything.  Believe that which is honorable, true, and wise (...which pretty much lets out all the pop culture baloney, conventional wisdom, and political doublespeak....).   leroy, amateur student of philosophy and casual observer of the human condition.

  6. I like it.  Thanks for posting it.  I'm kinda like the great Jeff Cooper: .... Im rather dismissive of those who aint used guns in a gunfight tryin to telling me what i need to do in the gunfight they aint had.   I believe ill take my advice from those who have actually had to use guns for their awful intended purpose and have lived to tell the tale.   Keep up the good work. leroy
  7. Check this out:  http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/06/27/gun-manufacturers-big-act-of-defiance-ahead-of-new-magazine-ban-in-colorado/   There's nothin not to like about these guys.  We need to start stockin up on magpul stuff again.   leroy
  8. I like it!!!  My sentiments exactly.   Keep up the good work. leroy
  9. Dont worry about bein a homophobe man.  Remember the little limeric: "....Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words (...and childish pseudo-ostracism by the tolerance police...) will never hurt me....".  I do the "...dont ask dont tell..." thing.  Dont act ignorant and say ignorant things; especially about your sexual orientation;  and i wont laugh at it.    The fact is that the great "Godfather" Rahm hit a homerun the other day with this quip: "...The gays are the next jews of fundraising...".  Its about the money, man; nothin more.   The lasie-fair capitalist class and the political class aint worried about your sexual orientation (...and i aint either...); they are worried about your money and they are workin on ways to collect it.    If it's a bribe or stroking to make you feel better so you will give em money; thats ok, they will give it to you.  If it's an outright endorsement thats ok too; it costs them nothin; and they aint worried about the "ethics" of their endorsement.  They aint got any when it comes to collecting dollars.   At the end of the day, its about the money.     Remember, money is the mothers milk of politics and the currency of capitalism.   "dont ask dont tell"  leroy A disciple of that great ethicist and wisened one, Bill Clinton
  10. I think this one still aint over.  Let's keep watchin.   leroy
  11. It's the "legal enterprize" man!!  The judges, lawyers, prosecuting attorneys, police, ect ect (...you get the idea...) get paid no matter what.  The thugs get the revolving door.  Dont believe for a minute that in many jurristictions that the "legal enterprize" is about keepin down thuggery and keeping folks safe; especially in the "sourlands" like NJ.  It's about everybody gettin paid and "repeat business".  So what if a few citizens get beat to death, shot, or worse.   Im a cynic.  That's what i see lots of places, and they all aint up in new jersey and new york.  What we are talkin about now is exactly why you and your loved ones need to be armed 24/7 and be willin to use them.   leroy
  12.   Robert.  I, and lots of others like yourself, i believe; would like to have seen (...notice the passed tense...) this be done fairly and with impartiality.  I'm also hopin for that in the trial.  But, to my thinkin, the sad fact is that any pretense of fairness and impartiality was thrown out in this particular case when the political class opportunists took the investigation and reviews for criminal charges out of the hands of the local police department and prosecuting attorney; and started the "witch hunt" for George Zimmerman to placate the rabble who were "outraged" at the supposidely heinous murder of a child (...who wuz really an 18 year old, 185 lb. thug...).     The real loosers in this whole debacle are the citizens of the state of florida.  They have seen that the political class on both sides of the spectrum are nothin but opportunists usin the power of the state to maliciously prosecute an individual to score political points; which, in itself, is clearly illegal.  They have murdered the rule of law in florida and sent a message to every potential dissident in the state that all you have to do to get a punitive prosecution on an individual basis is to raise a little hell and get on tv threatening to upset the political applecart and call in a few favors to the race-baiters ALA Sharpton and Jackson; not to mention threatening to vote the "wrong way" next election.     Let's hope that this sort of "law" doesnt spread to other places, like tennessee, for instance.  On a personal basis, i dont think it will.  My guess is that this is a 50/50 state carpetbagger thing.     leroy
  13.   I look for a hung jury with the state declining to re-try.  That way they can have it both ways.  To the race baters it's a "...we tried but the jury didnt go along...".  To the folks who are skeptical its a "...we were pushed into it by the race-baters.  We didnt want to try him.  Look at our witnesses. We chose not to re-try..."  That way these sons and daughters of satan can have it both ways.   leroy
  14. Thanks for posting this Sam.  I saw it myself this pm on fox (...i think...).  A careful reading of the story indicates that the county judge and prosecutor "agreed to drop these charges" .  I say "baloney"... Some real political operative told the prosecuting attorney (...obviously and idiot...); "...This is West Virginia, man.  People have guns here.   Are you tryin to get us all thrown out of office?  This aint New York City, and you aint Bloomberg....".     By the way, Logan County, WV is the site of the infamous Battle of Blair Mountain.  The term "redneck" originated here at this "battle".  Union organizers and battle participants were identified by red bandanas (...hence the term "redneck"...).  Check the Blair Mountain thing out; you will be surprized.  Logan county was also the jurisdiction of the infamous Sheriff Don Chafin ...check here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Chafin#Battle_of_Blair_Mountain   By the way; the Wikipeddia article referenced above is pretty much pure bunk and lies; it does get the tale straight about the "wars" and "shooting".  The details are bad.  The real truth can be found in the newspaper accounts in an obscure book titled: "Bloodletting in Applalachia.  The West Virginia Mine Wars" by Howard B Lee.  The Wikipedia article is no more truthful than the UMW website account of the matewan massacre.   If that aint enough, the next county over is Mingo County, the site of the Matewan Massacre.    leroy
  15.   I think Punisher is on the right track here.  I would opine that it's been dyin since LBJ declared "War on Poverty".  I saw him do it on TV when i wuz a high schooler.  The truth is that FDR started the ball rollin; and polititians and bureaucrats of various stripes have been workin overtime (...along with the race-baters...) to kill it since the sixties.  The current bunch has just kicked the can a lot further down the road a lot quicker, and more people are beginning to notice it.   leroy
  16.   I say in the long run it aint goin to.  I think we are gonna see this country devolve into a confederation of sorts just as ive opined.  One will be comprized of  "on the dole"  states; the other the "ya have to work" states.     The "on the dole" states are goin broke.  They will demand more dollars for the "dole".  They wont get 'em; they will (...and are...) dry up .  The Federal gubmt will try to put the arm on the "ya have to work states".  Some smart governor about like Rick Perry (...remember him, he wuz "too dumb" accordin to the media the the republican insiders to become president...) and some smart state's attorney will sue the Federal Gubmt sayin that the Fed's cant withhold dollars duly collected by the individual states (...which the court has already said, by the way ALA John Roberts and Obamacare....).    Said another way: "...what each individual state pays in to the Treasury must come out of the treasury back to that particular state via "block grants" for specific purposes. That means that each state will manage it's particular program (...welfare, healthcare, ect ect...) using state programs as outlined by state law; each state imposing it's particular set of rules (...drug testing, ya have to hunt for work, ya have to go to school... you get the idea....); not the federal government.   It's the rise of "state's rights" vs the federal government redux ALA the Civil War without firing a shot.  The "ya gotta work" states will encourage businesses to settle in their particluar states; that is, they will make their state a "business friendly" state ALA Tennessee (...volkswagen and nissan...) and Texas; becoming richer.  The "on the dole states" have already run all their businesses off, becoming poorer ALA Michigan and Kalefornia.    If what i've described happens, it will clean up the "on the dole" thing, and put the management of welfare, indigent care, dividual states.   Let's hope im right.  Otherwise, we will become South Africa and Rawanda.    leroy
  17. I'm ok with whatever the Rahm Man wants to do in Chicago.  Just keep it in Chicago.  As a buddy of my 24 year old is fond of sayin: "...If you like that, just keep on likin it.  Get as much of it as ya can stand....".  I simply dont care what they do up there.  I care about what we do down here.  They've asked for a leader like Rahm; let 'em live with him.   leroy
  18. I think these "tribalist children". "Soweto Freedom Fighters", "Black Panthers" and other "imaginary community activists" that are tweeting this bad stuff on their Obama phones might need to think a bit about this lynching Zimmerman thing.  Whether George Zimmerman is acquitted or not; the scorecard is "Z-Man"-1; "thugs"-0.  This whoppin, killin, shootin thing may not be as easy as some of the "community activists" think.   RE: "....burnin everything down...".  On a personal basis, i could care less about these "commuity activists" burnin their own communities down.   There are evidently some communities that need burnin down because they tolerate and even condone this activity.  The problem will come when this trouble moves "across the track" and comes to my house.  I; and i think lots of other people who dont burn things down when they dont get their way, probably aint gonna put up with that sort of thing.   I say: "...burners beware...".  Theres been a lot of ammo and guns sold lately.   My guess that outside of inner city memphis and chattanooga; there aint gonna be much burnin in tennessee.  The best they could do here in knoxville is to heckle Dave Chapelle at the theatre the other nite.  They had to pay to get in to do that.   This country is devolving rapidly into two countries.  Maybe it's for the best.  The thugs and "on the dole" crowd can live in on of 'em; and the "real people" who dont do the things we're talkin about can live in the other one.  I'm ok with that.   leroy
  19. Lester:  Any of your ole buddies got a tractor?  That could be the "least cost" option.   leroy
  20. It's a commentary on pop culture. Thuggery crosses all socio-economic strata.    Looks like the NFL let this one slide thru the cracks and missed screening him.  After he gets out of the big house (...if he goes, lots of money...); as others have opined, he could have a future on the "rubber chicken" circuit talikin about "wrong decisions".  Remember, ganstas is gangstas.   leroy
  21. My brother got slapped around pretty good on highway 153 in chattanooga several years ago.  Words, then pull over.  Moral of this story: ...Dont have words--dont pull over...   leroy
  22. Lester:  To mount a winch ya need a winch mounting kit.  Check this out for a winch and mounting kit: http://www.quadratec.com/showcases/quadratec_exclusive/quadratec_winch/   Ive got a "milemarker" (...i think, on our 2000 wrangler, never used it....).  What we use is a simplified version of this design: http://www.quadratec.com/products/12148_100_07.htm   The bumpers (....front and rear...) are a great addition.  Make sure they have  pad eyes for shackles and ya wont have any problems pulling whatever ya want to pull.  Both the front and rear on our jeep are the "rock crawler" type (...they dont cover the tires, lots of people dont like that...).  I like 'em because they were short, stout, rugged and were on the jeep when we bought it from one of our ole buddies.  The best way to find what ya like is to look at Quadratec and Morris off road.  I can recommend 'em because ive bought from both of them.  They are both good companies.    Lastly, remember the "jeep thing" is a "toy thing".  The prices run from mild to wild.  Decide what ya want to give for what you are looking for and buy what ya like.  Have fun lookin and let us know what ya decide to buy.    leroy
  23. This video is a powerful endorsement of "...you need to have a weapon handy and in reach at all times...".  We can quibble about the idea that "...there are kids in the house, i dont like guns, ya might shoot a neighbor, ya might shoot someone you love, nobody should own guns (...the NJ standard...), dont resist and he wont hurt you (...real funny one...), on and on.... ya get the point...).    The fact is, as others have opined that this can and does happen everywhere and it aint an "across the track, poor neighborhood" issue at all; its everywhere ubiquidous.  Since it is "everywhere ubquidous"; you better decide what you need to do beforehand.     I'ts a wonder that the poor woman in this video wasn't beat to death, or worse. Thank God she wasnt killed.   Notice the police werent there; not because they didnt want to be (...which we can quibble a bit about too; especially in NJ...).  The fact is that the police cannot be everywhere.  I'm a 66 year old gimp with a 65 year old wife.  We couldn't survive a beating like this thug passed out.   My solution is simple... If you kick the door in at my house and make it across the threshold and you aint wearing swat gear and hollering "...officers..."; im gonna try to "...stop the threat with great finality...".  I may get whooped and gut stomped, but it will be after the shootin, stabbin, and fightin is over.   The same goes for the truck, jeep, and anywhere else im wonderin around.  I'm never not armed, and ive decided what to do should that awful day come.  I recommend that you and your loved ones do the same.   From the bunker on the hillside. leroy, armed citizen
  24. I use the Wilderness Tactical Frequent Flyer EZE fit.  Check 'em out here:  http://www.thewilderness.com/index.php?p=product&id=2478&parent=142   They are light and strong.  I use the 3 stitch version.   leroy
  25. I well remember my mis-spent youth (...20's...) in the golden age of the fast car.  We lived and ran around out in the country right on the knox county, sevier county, blount county line on US 441.  Some of our best buddies and harshest disciplinarians were members of the THP.  They were great men, great lawmen, and all round good guys. They were, in fact, men you could look to for help when needed and discipline when needed.  It looks like Greg may have run into some of their sons.  Thank You Lord for lettin some of them stay around.   leroy
