IMO, the PF9 is a great little gun when you consider the price. True, it is not finished as well as more expensive guns but a fluff and buff helps with the looks and comfort. IMO, the trigger matches the gun. The gun is not built to be a fun gun but a defensive carry gun with a long hard trigger. I would not want the trigger any other way. JMHO, oldogy

Yeah, that is a tough one, arrow in the shoulder and infected. He may get over it, may not. Several years ago there was a doe coming in to my place that had an injured rear leg. It was painful to watch her struggle on three legs. She eventually lost part of the leg from the mid joint down and did quite well on three. The last I saw her was late spring last year and she had a fawn trailing with her. We had a pack of feral dogs, coy dogs in the area and I guess they got her. If that spike is lying down he probably needs put down. JMHO. oldogy

The DeSantis that is designed to fit the J frame fits the LCR just fine, maybe better than the J frame fits with Better retention. Just for giggles and laughs I also tried the LCR in the DeSantis pocket holster for my KelTec PF9 and the LCR is an accptable fit there. oldogy

British Military Goes "Progressive." The Next War Should Be Fun.
oldogy replied to a topic in General Chat
Does that mean the British army won't be issuing man cards? oldogy -
I carry the PF9, like it a lot. I find it very easy to conceal so I carry it. Can not say anything for the LCP but I just got the wife an LCR. She has a Smith J frame air weight and did not like the recoil of that. She likes the LCR better than the J frame, nicer trigger and better grips, less perceptive recoil, still easy to conceal. She hates my PF9 and would have trouble racking the slide. Keep in mind that none of these mouse guns are actually fun to shoot, not built as a toy but as a tool. oldogy

As mentioned by someone else above, when the wood dries it develops cracks. Yep, get yourself a couple wedges and work the cracks that develop. Make certain the wood is on a solid base. I have six pieces from the main trunk of the hickory that I am allowing the cracks to expand before I can split them. When sectioning the trunk of this tree I held the length about 14" and this helps with splitting. I bought one new wedge this year and it has a very blunt tip, not good at all. Guess I'll have to sharpen it some to make it fully functional. I have two other sharp point wedges but one of them is getting mushroomed pretty bad but still work fine. I just wanted another wedge to break in. I have a large stone fireplace and the dear wife likes her fires just about every night. My woodworking tools: 2 each 8 pound mauls 3 each wedges 1 three pound wedge type splitting maul 1 five pound single bit ax 1 four pound singe bit ax 1 Echo 4400 with 18" bar several double bit axes Enjoy your heat, stay warm oldogy

I like to dry mine single row stacked and covered for at least a year. I am just finishing burning some locust, poplar and oak that is two years old and it is burning great. This year I took a massive hickory tree down that had been in decline for a couple years and dead for a year. I have the hickory split and it is burning very well also even though it has been split and stacked to dry only a few months. The heart wood of this hickory will take till next year to be perfect for burning. This tree was 28" across the stump. I have almost a cord of tulip poplar that I cut and stacked this year that shows no signs of loosing much moisture yet and I can only guess if it will be ready to burn next year. So far I split all my wood by hand. Great exercise. oldogy

I can see why we are slower than the 'leaders' you mention. Those 'nations' are much more densely populated than the US. I seriously doubt if the US internet providers are as subsidized as some of the other 'nations'. No, I did not read the article, just went to the site and saw where the good speeds are and are not. oldogy, who is stuck with satellite internet that is poor on even a good day.

Yes, not the best choice but it will work. I would go with hollow point if I were going to do it......But, hey, most of my long gun ammo is HP. oldogy

Welcome to TGO from another who is in the same age range. I'm always stoked when I hear that the older set digs the (relatively) modern weapons. Glad you've arrived and happy posting. What does this guy expect us to use, clubs? Of course we use modern tools., Play with modern toys. oldogy W__________________

Please do not think I was trying to diminish any kind of value of the gift of that print to you by your grandfather. I, too would be very proud and glad to have it. Prints such as that and other patriots were commonly displayed and revered years ago in places of public gathering. oldogy

As I remember, that print was fairly common in schools and public buildings several years back.........specifically in an old one room school that was on my grandparent's property. Seems to me that picture was probably only in number behind that of George Washington and Abe Lincoln. oldogy

Yeah, stick around. Welcome to TGO, kick back and enjoy. It is the Internet. Most of us on here really don't give a damn what color your skin is, what your religion may or may not be or what your sexual preference is. Jump in with questions or experiences, gun related or otherwise. Again, welcome to TGO. oldogy
