    Profiling

Daniel, I think it would be wise to expound on your initial post in this thread based on what you wrote in the other thread. As is, it comes off as an attack on many members of the forum. Of course if that was your intention, then carry on.

    Profiling

To expound on the profiling thing, as that seems to be the crux of the argument, I am against profiling based on any one criteria but EVERYBODY PROFILES, EVERY DAY. If you are walking along a sidewalk in a bad part of town alone at night and two men turn a corner and begin walking towards you, you immediately start "profiling" them. You probably prefer to use the term "threat assessment" but it's semantics, profiling is what you are doing. We all do it, it's a perfectly normal survival instinct.

Well if that was the point that you were trying to make, then I am in almost complete agreement. I will say though that you did a very poor job of making your point.

To be quite honest, I'm still not sure what your position is. The gist of what I got from the initial thread is that you believe that anyone who is white, male, former military, supports the 2nd Amendment, and is fond of Jefferson as a founding father is a potential terrorist. I think there is a job waiting for you in the DOJ or the DHS when you get out of the reserves.

So are you accusing Daniel of using his mod status to get away with "circus tricks"?

Perhaps a blog would be a more appropriate venue. Posting controversial threads and then using your moderator status to prevent others from responding does not exactly have the smell of propriety. By the way, glad to hear your nuts are okay.

Good for you and thanks for your service. I am fairly certain that this wasn't your point. We will just have to agree to disagree. It seems like you are in CYA mode now. I really don't believe you were trying to argue with anyone. If you were you wouldn't have posted your thread and then locked it. You wanted to make your point without having to answer for it. I have called you on it and now you are throwing in Rudolph and Kaczynski, neither of whom have any relation to what you were insinuating in your previous thread, to try and give that thread some meaning and make it seem less offensive.

I may have misunderstood your reason for posting that thread, but it seemed clear to my mind that it was indeed intended to start a fight. It seems to me that you used ONE person to paint everyone who might consider themselves as a pro Constitution patriot as a potential terrorist. And yes, I do realize that you never accused anyone of actually being a terrorist. For the record, I am a former Marine, I believe in a strict constructionist interpretation of the Constitution, I am a fan of Thomas Jefferson, and I DON'T consider myself to be a potential terrorist. Also, I would gladly wear that shirt(well not that EXACT shirt).

I had a problem with Daniel's thread titled "Profiling". I viewed it as a classless hit and run attack on some members of this community. What say you, fellow TGOers? Was Daniel's thread accusing members of the forum of being potential terrorists out of line?
  10. It's hard to tell anything from the pics. I expected to see a bit more of a crease than a dent. I would just recommend doing what I mentioned earlier and seeing where the binding is happening and checking your extractor tension and making sure that is OK. Otherwise, if your not having any reliability problems, I wouldn't worry about it. Here is a brief tutorial that shows how to adjust extractor tension- Extractor Tuning Tips . It is also not uncommon for an extractor to be a bit too long and hit the case ahead of the rim, causing the case to not sit flat against the breech face. This could cause the same symptoms as too much extractor tension.
  11. Put a cartridge in the magazine and slowly chamber it while controlling the slide with your hand. The bullet will be hitting the top of the chamber as the rim is sliding underneath the extractor. The area where the feed ramp ends and the chamber begins is a pivot point and is likely what is causing the denting. This could just be normal and nothing to worry about, it could be that the feed ramp needs some massaging, or it could be that the extractor has too much tension or is too long and is hitting the cartridge ahead of the rim. Do you have any pictures of the dented brass?
  12. I think Tennessee's young O-line has been their biggest problem all season long. But I think the team is better with Bray. They seem to have a much better attitude. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like after Bray makes a mistake the team comes right back out and gets back to business. But when Simms made a mistake, the team just laid down and quit. I don't really know, but I think that maybe the problem with Simms was less about his performance and more about his attitude.
  13. Well, I did use the qualifier "a little bit". He does have some of the same attributes as Manning. He's tall and lanky, shows good pocket presence, and has a strong arm. Hard work, determination and decision making ability is where Peyton has the edge on most quarterbacks. Bray's qualifications in these areas remain to be seen. I'm glad they finally started hearing me screaming through the TV to get Simms out of there.
  14. Well I guess there is now. They look good. Bray reminds me of Manning a little bit. If he keeps going the way he is right now, I think he's going to be a star.
  15. I thought Dead Snow was pretty decent. The best Norwegian Nazi zombie movie I've seen so far. I thought Fido was pretty good too.
  16. He already did. Off. coordinator Jason Garrett is the new head coach, for now.
  17. Considering that the Arctic ice cap is as large as it was 30 years ago, and growing. And considering that the Antarctic ice cap is 5% larger than it was 30 years ago, and growing. I'd avoid buying property in cold weather climates, unless you like to think REALLY long term. If that's the case, go ahead. Eventually it will be significantly warmer than it is now. The sun will have to decide when that is for us though(barring some cataclysmic event in the meantime). By the way, it HAS been cooling down for the last 12 years.
  18. True, but maybe MSNBC thinks they can do better with someone else. Olbermann has been getting beaten 3 to 1 by O'Reilly at 8 and 4 to 1 at 11. And when you factor in all time slots, he also trails Fox and Friends, Glen Beck, Bret Baier, Sheppard Smith, Hannity, and Greta von Susteren(actually he trails every Fox News show in every time slot)- most by 2 to 1 or more. And Olbermann has the prime time slot.Honestly, I'm just glad he got kicked off of the Sunday night pregame show.
  19. Excellent response Mark, but some people will believe what they want to believe in spite of nearly overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
  20. Maybe NBC just sees this as the perfect opportunity to get rid of him. His ratings are dismal at best. If they can use this as grounds for termination, they could possibly stand to save some contract money and get rid of a guy who can't be generating much revenue anyway.
  21. Or at least fight to win, and not to avoid hurting feelings.
  22. Noticed your reason for editing. Funny that you automatically thought I was talking about you when I used the word idiot, isn't it? Nosce te ipsum.
  23. Yeah, he's done a fantastic job so far. Over a trillion dollars added to the national debt(in the short term, the long term costs are very significantly higher) and the unemployment rate is HIGHER than when he took office. To blame the bad economy entirely on Bush is ignorant and shows a complete lack of understanding and education about the way the economy works and what really led to the recession. Bush certainly played his part in the recession. As did the Democrat controlled Congress that had been in command for two years before the crash(you probably forgot that the Democrats were in control of both houses of Congress after the 2006 elections. Don't feel bad, most people forgot that as well when they voted for "change"). As did the Republican Congress before them. As did Clinton and his Congresses.Probably the biggest factor that led to the recession was sub-prime mortgages. What led to sub-prime mortgages? The short answer is government intervention- artificially adjusted interest rates, the CRA, and government sponsored entities(most notably Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac). Do a little research and see who were the biggest supporters of these fiascoes. Strel, don't be another tool of the political machine. Don't just believe whatever any government shill spouts out as fact, do the research yourself. If you keep swallowing everything the machine feeds you, you will remain ignorant.
