  1. The clip is held on by three very small torx screws and is removable. The hinge and clip are completely separate and removing the clip doesn't effect the hinge.
  2. Okay, I've got into the bad habit of collecting knives again. I need HELP! From top to bottom- Chris Reeve Neil Roberts(My first CR. VERY nice.) ESEE 5(Built like a tank) Entrek Javalina(Nothing fancy but very functional) Spyderco Military(A little big for EDC, but a good outdoors folder) Lone Wolf Cheyenne(my usual EDC) Benchmade Mini Griptillian(Sweet little knife. I'm a big fan of the AXIS lock.)
  3. The Benchmade Osborne Opportunist sounds like it might fit the bill. Mcusta makes some nice looking wood grip folders that may be what you're looking for also. Here is one example. I don't have any experience with Mcusta, but Benchmade is first rate.
  4. A fire. A really intense, fast burning fire. But no explosion, unless you are storing black powder. Black powder IS an explosive. Smokeless powder IS NOT an explosive UNLESS it is stored in something that is mostly airtight. Storing smokeless powder in a strong, airtight enclosure is a bad idea(not saying that is what you are doing). As the powder burns, gases expand extremely rapidly and will find a way out of whatever is containing them- by pushing the bullet out of the cartridge and down the bore or by blowing the door off of a safe or the lid off of an ammo can.
  5. I have the Forster Original Kit with the power adapter . I use a small Skil cordless screwdriver to run it. It's pretty quick. I haven't timed it, but I can run 50 .308 cases in probably 10 minutes or maybe a little less. It does a great job and my case mouths come out dead square every time. The only gripe I have, and it's a small one, is that it could be a little easier to adjust.
  6. In addition to what has already been mentioned, I suppose it could have something to do with the fact that the standard .22LR twist is 1 in 16. Maybe a heavier bullet wouldn't stabilize as quickly, or at all, in the short ranges where the .22LR is effective and accuracy would suffer? I have no idea. There must be a reason why every type of match ammunition I've seen is a 40gr. LRN though.
  7. This is a poor analogy since the speakers inside the car are not the problem, the sound outside the car is the problem. In a way you're kind of making the case for SkyKing's argument. I can see both sides of this issue. The fact is that someone is losing their rights, whether it be the business or the employees. The reason I take the side of the employees on this one is because the business owner's ban extends beyond the business owner's private property. The problem in my mind is not that you may not be allowed to keep a firearm in your own personal vehicle while on company property, it's that you are also prevented from keeping your firearm in your own personal vehicle outside of company property. So essentially the employee is not only giving up the right to keep their own private property in their own private property while at work, they are also required to give up their most effective means to defend themselves when off company property on the way to and from work. In my opinion, the final score is 2-1 for the employees. It's obvious that the employees have far more to lose in this situation than the business owners. In fact, the business owners are actually gaining a little added measure of security as well.
  8. It's not really about Democrats or Republicans. It's not as though there is much difference in most cases. It's really Libertarians versus Statists. For example Bush Sr., Bush Jr., Romney, Reid, Pelosi, Obama, Carter, and Clinton were/are all much closer to the Statist side of the spectrum. Ron Paul, Rand Paul, Bachmann, Cain, and Reagan were/are closer to the Libertarian side of the spectrum. The current Democrat party is probably 90-95% Statist. The current Republican party, after the last election, is down to probably 50-55% Statist. The Statists have been in control for a very long time, no matter which party has had control of Congress and the Presidency. I still have hope though that the Tea Party movement can shift the landscape a little more to the Libertarian side of the scale, at least fiscally if not socially.
  9. According to FBI statistics, there were 567 cases of racially motivated black on white crime in the year 1998 alone. In fact, per capita, racially motivated black on white crime is much more prevalent than racially motivated white on black crime. Just because it rarely makes the national news doesn't mean it doesn't happen. And I still despise hate crime legislation, no matter which way it works. The problem in the past was that people sometimes weren't considered equal in the eyes of the law. Continuing, and officially condoning, the same policy is not a logical solution.
  10. BS. We already have a system in place that punishes people for the nature and severity of a crime without taking race, religion, creed etc. into account. When justice isn't blind to these things it can never be fair and equal. You can't really believe that we should all be equal under the law, except that some should be more equal than others can you? Hate crime laws divide. Period.
  11. That is what makes this complicated. We can all agree that property owners have property rights. This goes both ways. The business owners have rights to there property, but the employees also have rights to their property(their cars). I don't believe that there should be any need for this bill in the first place. The Constitution is absolutely clear that we have the right to KEEP and BEAR arms. No government or private industry was ever intended to have the ability to circumvent this right. This is a perfect world scenario of course, where we respect and adhere to the Constitution. We all know that isn't how it works.
  12. +1 to this. Government has no business in any relationship, straight or gay. strick, I think what people are talking about when they say "special treatment" is primarily hate crime legislation. I despise hate crime legislation.
  13. Not really a nut job, just a devout communist from what I've seen from him. I'm sure lots of communists are perfectly good people.
  14. How about this? Since the new law would prevent a business from being held liable for any gun related incident, injury, or death caused by an employee, then a company who forced an employee to disarm before coming to work could be held liable for any incident, injury, or death, which could have been prevented by the use of a firearm, that occurred while the employee was at, on the way to, or going home from said business. Since the business has removed the most reliable, and in some circumstances only, means to self defense not only at work, but on your way to and from work, then they have accepted responsibility for providing for your defense. That seems like a fair solution to me.
  15. I've been playing for about 16 years, off and on, and I still suck. I sold my beloved Martin D18V a couple of years ago when money was tight. I'm down to a Les Paul Standard(love it) and an old Fender Kingman now.
  16. I really like both Bachmann and Paul. They are true Republicans unlike the Romney's, McCain's, and Bush's of the world, who are actually center left when you get right down to it. There was really little difference between Bush and Clinton politically, other than the letters next to their names. I'm sure the hardcore Democrats and Republicans would argue that, but to us Libertarians they were the same.
  17. I work in the construction industry and have more than my fair share of experience with illegals. Here are a few things I have learned from those that I have run across(bear in mind that these statements relate to those that I have met and may not be an accurate overall assessment): It is MUCH, MUCH easier to get in to the United States illegally than it is to get in to Mexico. Mexico takes the defense of their southern border seriously. You DO NOT want to get caught coming in to Mexico from Guatemala or Belize. Most illegals DO NOT want to be US citizens on a permanent basis. They want to earn enough money(usually tax free) to provide for their families in their native countries and to save up enough money to return to said countries and live the good life. Perhaps 1 in 10 that I have talked to intend to live the remainders of their lives as "Americans". Even the ones who are US citizens almost universally identify themselves as Mexicans, Chileans, Hondurans, Argentinians, etc., and not as Americans. And they plan to return to their native countries eventually. You DO NOT have to be a US citizen to get a job and pay taxes. It is very easy for an illegal alien to get a Taxpayer ID(iTIN) number. An iTIN is easy to get. Just apply and the US government will give you one. The government really doesn't care if you are legal or not, as long as you are paying taxes. Of course, companies that pay under the table don't even need to worry about an iTIN. You might not believe it, but immigrants typically DO NOT make significantly less than the average American for the same work. An illegal can make just as much as a citizen for doing the same job. It's generally NOT that companies hire immigrants because they are significantly cheaper. It's because they want to work and don't mind doing hard work that most Americans think is beneath them. What can we do to fix it? Seal up the borders. This is a no-brainer. Without sealing the border, nothing we do will make even the slightest bit of difference. Crack down HARD on companies that hire known illegals and pay under the table. I don't really have a problem with anyone who is willing to go out and earn their way WHILE ALSO paying their taxes like everyone else. Teach our own younger generations that there is no shame in actually WORKING for a living. Quite frankly the immigrants, illegal or not, will typically outwork our younger people(under 30) 4 to 1. They work harder, they are more reliable, and they don't whine and cry whenever they don't get their way. The entitlement attitude of our younger people is a very serious problem. Quit providing illegals with free schools and other social programs. IMO, the school system should be privatized anyway but that's a whole other discussion. JMHO
  18. Congratulations. I love the old A1s. And I don't doubt that it will outshoot a lot of what's made today.
  19. For pistol brass, I load whatever I've got on hand. I do sort my brass by brand, but I don't cull any brands. I've loaded Fed., PMC, PMP, IMI, Speer, and even S&B, and a dozen others I can't remember right now. They all went bang. With pistol brass, I don't see different brands as making that much difference. When I load rifle, it's a different story.
  20. I bought it off the shelf at Gunslingers. It's the first one I've seen around here in stock. They say they get them in occasionally, but they go fast.
  21. I know. But comparing such a fine piece as this to a Glock, even in jest, is blasphemous.
  22. You are correct. The added mass of the full length dust cover helps reduce muzzle rise somewhat(the frame rails and dust cover are steel, only the grip is polymer). It works too. It has noticeably less muzzle rise than a traditional full size .45 1911.
  23. Actually, the only things it has in common with a Glock are the polymer grip and high cap double stack mags. In fact, the only parts that aren't directly interchangeable with a 1911 are the frame(obviously), trigger bow, magazines, mag catch, mainspring housing, ejector pin, and grips. The other ~45 parts are 1911. And, believe it or not, the overall grip height, width, and depth are the same as a traditional government 1911. The only difference is that the grip is more square fore and aft than a 1911 grip.
