1. While it's still a hit or miss on certain items, supplies have opened up somewhat compared to recent history. So to answer your question, go for it and start collecting what you can.
2. Cool. Thanks for the link. I had already considered ordering a spare from S&W in order to keep the original stock. This will save time and effort.

Desert Eagle .50??

There's a guy that shoots his at the G&L range from time to time. You might check with them to get his name since he's a regular.
4. 6,002 registered but 1,988 active. That brings up a question, what constitutes an active member?
5. Hex, before you get her one, make sure she promises not to bounce it off your head after an argument.
6. Your comments on the government arming the people reminded me of some things that Obama said before the election. Below are some things to think about. Obama's words are in red text, some comments I found on the internet are in black, my comments are in blue. On July 2, 2008, Barack Obama announced: “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.â€<O:p Comments on his quote above. Obama’s Civilian National Security Force: What sort of people would be in this paramilitary force? <O:pWhat sort of weapons would they have? <O:pWho would command them? <O:p
Would they be subordinate to the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />U.S. military? <O:p
Would they be subordinate to the police?
<O:pWhat would be the purpose of this paramilitary force? <O:p What would it do? <O:p And, what are Obama’s “national security objectives?â€<O:p Michelle Obama lifts back the curtain hiding Barack’s plans for a new order:<O:p “Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation. That you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. No dissention will be tolerated and the militia will keep the people in check. Of course for that to be truly effective, they must first disarm the people.
7. What you're into Sig's? I would have never guessed. Congrats!
8. Yes you are correct, only out to 100 yds.
9. We all just need to plan a M&P trigger job party.
10. Most models have no magnification but I have seen some that do offer a small amount. When you see the spec 1x30 for example, the one indicates no magnification. Something higher than one notates magnification. The number after the "x" is the diameter of the objective lense. You are correct, the aiming point is the dot rather than a crosshairs on normal scopes. The advantage is a quick sight picture.
11. From the article linked below. The Environmental Protection Agency formally declared Monday that carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels poses a threat to human health and welfare I thought CO2 was CO2. So why is the CO2 that we all breath out not a threat to human health? Just the burning of fossil fuels. What a crock. This is getting to the point I want to explode!!! And we thought second hand smoke was bad, so are they going to put out a notice for second hand breathing? EPA issues CO2 'endangerment finding' - Washington Times
12. I thought the thread was for things that weren't true.

Ak-47 input

In looking at your post I picked up the following points. Not ready to purchase right now. You want quality but not more than $500 - $600. Wants wooden stocks As the others have mentioned converting a Saiga is hard to beat. Your price is do able if you shop carefully. Saiga's have the quality for sure compared to the Romanian WASR's and even higher end AK's IMO. Just in case you are not aware, Saiga's are produced in Russia from new parts. Many other ones are built from parts kits with questionable background as far as quality. The good or bad point (depending on if you like to work on guns), is the actually conversion. It is easily converted if you are somewhat handy but you have to watch all the 922r compliance items. There is a ton of info out there on the Saiga forum. From understanding the compliance law, parts used to convert, several suppliers/vendors are on the site as well, and how to convert. Honestly I don't know, but i assume there are US makers of wood kits but most people use the Tapco stuff. Again, due to 922r it's pretty much a bet you will have to go a US maker for the wood stocks. So in summary I think you probably picked up on my preference for Saiga's. Again that's based on you mentioning twice you want quality. Some folks have bought WASR's and have been satisified but I was not at all impressed with them IMO.
14. What if I've got a NIB red Swingline stapler with a unopened box of 1000 medium duty 1/4" staples? I guess that's against rules too, correct?
15. I searched and didn't see this posted. Hopefully it's not a repost.
16. me likes! You think anyone will have the pistol version out at the next gunshow?
17. If I were the Vet I'd offer up this compromise. "All of HOA board members learn to speak fluent German and I'll take the pole down." If it wasn't for guys like that we all might be speaking German right now.
18. Just to clarify, my question relates back to the following. Me having my EDC on me. Plus there might be a couple of long guns and 4-5 handguns plus ammo in the vehicle as well. Since we have seen different LEO's respond differently in certain situations, I can very well see one claiming my son's ability to go armed without doing the separated and locked containers. I just don't want to try and prove my case in court. You might just then say, "if it makes you feel better, lock them up", but I'm just trying to determine if there is a clear written law on the subject.
19. So why wouldn't other members in the vehicle be liable for "intent to go armed" since they don't have a HCP?
20. No intent to jack the thread since it's on the topic, but hopefully a quick question. I believe I am correct but just wanted to see what you guys do. I have my HCP and when I go to the range I still follow the locked separate container deal since I usually have my son in the car with me and he doesn't have his HCP yet. I'm carrying and under control of my firearm but don't want there to be any confusion on his access to other firearms/ammo in the vehicle. It just makes sense to me to still have to do this. So to my question, am I legally required to still do this with my HCP?
21. Verrry nice indeed. Happy shooting.
22. Congrats and good luck. So are the guests bringing 7.62 ammo as wedding gifts?

Can't decide

I voted for the XD sc I've tried the 26 and it didn't appeal to me. Actually I've been toying with the XDsc vs. the PPS myself. I like the feel of the PPS, has good sights, super slim, BUT I don't like the round capacity. (Of course that's how they got it so slim.) On the XD sc, it has grown on me to the point that I would chose it over the PPS due to the higher capacity. It handles and points well for me. I like the squared off/textured trigger guard front for the support hand. I like the extra capacity spare magazine and all the extra stuff so it gets my vote.
