  1. Yea, I am in the same boat since my wife and I did our classes at the same. On that last one I listed, it still applies to me because I like buying gun crap a lot more than she does.
  2. You guys are all wrong...$115 just gets you hooked. You forgot about... a summer carry gun a winter carry gun numerous holsters for all clothing variations all kinds of defensive rounds all that ammo for practice money for advanced carry classes etc etc money to spend on your wife to keep peace after you've bought all this gun crap
  3. Lagerhead and Nikki - it was good to see you there at the meeting tonight. Not sure if there were other TGO folks. I think our side presented a very strong case. There was no substance or facts from the opposition. I was also supprised to see the number of councilmen that spoke up for us. I'm going to send thanks to them for their comments. What we have to do now is push the councilmen that weren't there tonight to watch the meeting recording.
  4. Yea, I was wondering the same thing. I've got a feeling that somehow Sig isn't going to catch as much crap from folks as Ruger did. Ruger did the same thing but they were seen in a bad light from some folks.
  5. I got the same notice in the mail. Everyone, try to get out and show your support. Now is the time not to sit back and hope it will turn out in our favor. Also, please at least send emails to the Metro Council. They make it easy to send an email to the everyone on the council at the same time. Use the pull down bar to send to the entire list - (top option) Nashville.gov - Metro Council Feedback Form

    GSG AK47

Cool. I did notice someone with a hi point standing there. They were way too busy that night to just have two guys working. I almost had enough time waiting that I almost backed out of the purchase. lol Will do but it's probably going to be a couple of weeks before I have a chance.

    GSG AK47

Everything I've heard about the GSG-5 has been positive. There are several online reviews. Also, there is a review in the current August issue of American Rifleman.

    GSG AK47

Yep. As purchased it has a hex shaped threaded insert. My assumption is that they are going to offer an add on muzzle break for looks if you want but I haven't seen any online info yet. On the front of the manual it shows models with muzzle breaks.

    GSG AK47

Correct Yep. Got mine at G&L. They had one wood stock left as of yesterday.

    GSG AK47

I wanted to share my new purchase. Some people may say what's the point since they are chambered in .22 LR but I wanted one anyway. I wanted a .22 due to the low ammo cost and versatile nature of the round. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I was originally looking at the GSG-5 version but after handling both I decided to go with the AK47. Both are imported by American Tactical Imports and they are made in Germany. There is a ton of info out on the GSG-5 but the AK just came out. I got the wood stock version. I have also attached a pix of a tricked out synthetic version if you have money to burn.
  11. Oh Snap is right. Honestly. I was just taking a "smoke break" and since I don't smoke, I used my time for better things like checking in on the forum.
  12. Daniel is correct. Or at least that's what my wife tells me. His screen name is IWI.BabyEagle.40
  13. Ditto on the good times last night. Even though we were sitting at the end of the table with creeky and LagerHead. lol. My son and I enjoyed meeting everyone and putting faces with the screen names. Hopefully we'll have the chance to meet some more folks at the meet and shoot this weekend.

  15. +1 You can't beat the comfort. You almost forget it's there.
  16. For 38 special target loads I usually run Speer 148g HBWC's using WW231. I normally run the charge around 3.7g. OAL is 1.175". That load in my 642 runs pretty well. I saw you're in Summer Co. I work in Hendersonville so if you want I can spot you a few rounds to try. PM me if you are interested.
  17. +1 for sure. I read though all the posts and saw many people comment that their wives/GF's like 1911's. Most women are scared on the large calibers like the 45 until they try it. My wife's carry is a 642 with Pachmayr grips to give her better control. The 642 was her choice due to the simplicity of a revolver in a panic situation. She had always been intimidated by large calibers until she tried a friend's 1911 through some friendly peer pressure. She loved it. Her main comment about liking it was how narrow it was in the grip area. She could really get a good grip on the gun. She prefers the 1911 more than my M&P 40 since it is a double stack vs. the single stack 45. So as TGO David said, how it feels in your hands is probably more important than the actual recoil of the caliber.
  18. Thanks for the heads up. I thought for sure I would be able to get some 38's for my Dad since he's in need. I saw your post just a few minutes before 9:00. Off to Wally World on an unplanned visit. I got there no later than 9:30 and no 38's left. They still had most of everything else though. Dang! I did get some 22's so it wasn't a total loss.

    Rental Ranges

Not near your way but Guns and Leather in Greenbrier rents guns and has a top notch range. (Has two in fact.)
  20. Been married 21 yrs earlier this month. In my case it's kind of backwards to your suggestion. I wanted to get my wife a XDm but money is tight right now...maybe later. We decided to just do very small gifts this year. Ended up getting her a carry knife. Believe it or not, she was tickled. (She had been asking for one so I knew I would be safe on the gift.) Gotta love a wife that wanted a knife.
