  1. Yep, I'll be hanging on to it.
  2. That was a big plus for me. As much as I like comp'd guns, I want real iron sights a backup option for my dot.
  3. I hate to hear this. One of the things about a community the size of TGO that has as many years behind it as we do is that sooner or later we find ourselves saying farewell to friends in this manner. I never gets any easier.
  4. I'll do a review of this one soon. It arrived yesterday at @sigbrown1297's FFL and I was able to pick it up late in the afternoon. (Many thanks, Jonathan!) I installed the Holosun 407K green-dot optic on it last night and then swapped on the Wilson Combat grip module today. If all goes well, I may get to dial-in the dot and do a little shooting with it Friday or Saturday. Right now all I can offer is that I love the size, weight and the way it feels in hand and on the belt. I wore it around the house today in a new PHLSTER Pro holster and couldn't even tell it was there. I am pretty sure this will be my go-to companion for summertime use and when on duty at church. 12+1 rounds in a slim and small form factor with an optic? Winning! Pretty much stock, with the Holosun 407K optic installed. With the Wilson Combat XL grip module installed. PHLSTER Pro P365XL holster with DCC Monoblock clip.

  6. @MacGyver you need this.
  7. I have kept a few handguns in .40SW because the ammo has always been plentiful. People have derided the caliber for not being 9mm or .45ACP, but it saw plenty of actual and effective use by law enforcement and proved that it was a capable round. Law Enforcement trade-in Glock 22 and 23 models are a good purchase, as long as the price is reasonable. For a while there you could snag them for right between $300-400, but I have noticed that the prices are creeping back up as supply begins to wind down. Another reason to like those two Glocks is that all it takes is a drop-in barrel to have a .357SIG option in your collection. That's another round that doesn't get a lot of love these days, but the muzzle velocity and ballistic gel data aren't anything to sneer at.
  8. I honestly think I like this 407K more than I like the 507K that I have on my Staccato C2. I prefer the larger dot.

Putting a dot on a Beretta 92 does seem a bit like fuel-injecting a Model-T Ford, but the dot is life.
  10. Yep. I've got a new Holosun 407K green dot sitting on my desk just waiting for it.
  11. 100% agree! I've been carrying my regular old P365 in a Henry Holsters "Flint Compact" which should fit it, but I decided to order a new holster while I was at it. I have a PHLSTER Pro coming. I have one of them for my chunky Walther PDP and it is super comfortable. Gienormous photo...
  12. I'm not advocating that anyone engage in an illegal activity, but like most things in life - if the BATF writes an opinion that these are illegal - this is probably going to become one of those situations where it's only a crime when you're caught with it and civil disobedience until that happens. Just like the folks who put stocks on AR pistols without paying a tax stamp or the second or third generation owner of a fully automatic "bring back" from various overseas conflicts. Literally nothing stops them from doing it except for the threat of being caught. The curse of the modern era is social media. Ponder that for a bit. To clarify: I'm one of those schmucks who writes the government a fat check so that he can put a stock on something that other people just put stocks on tax-free.
  13. Wow. I went to eBay thinking surely the sellers that I've bought from before have these in stock and... NOPE. What a weird thing for there to be a shortage of across the spectrum of manufacturers.
  14. I'll just say that a lot of what you said depends on the gun, on the caliber, on the ammunition being used, and the design of the compensator itself. I've run my compensated G45 side-by-side with my non compensated G19 with the same range ammo and the same carry ammo and the G45 had no discernable increase in muzzle flash. I also have not changed recoil spring assemblies with the G45 or done anything else to "tune it" to run better with the comp. Factory G45/G19 recoil spring assembly only. For smaller guns like the P365 or Hellcat or M&P Shield, I would say that the compensator makes even more sense than it does on a larger gun because every extra little bit of controllability that you can get "feels" more significant with a smaller gun than it does with a larger gun. I'll let you know in about week how the Spectre Comp runs. I have one coming. Here's a video everyone might benefit from watching in the meantime. It's a comparison of the Spectre Comp in the dark compared to the non compensated P365 XL. Come to your own conclusions after you watch it. I've bookmarked the video to start right at the side-by-side comparison in the dark.
  15. Only because I love you... the wide themes are back. Go check the Theme menu at the bottom of the page now.
  16. Maintaining a dozen different themes means that every time I update the forum software or introduce a new feature, I have to update every theme by hand. It's a tedious process and sometimes slows down my ability to get security and stability related updates put on the forum. If I have to weigh security and stability against a Baskin Robbins array of flavors... I'm going to have to err on the side of security and stability. Two days ago we had a problem caused by a corrupted cache of the different themes that I had running on TGO. The forum was down for about 8-hours because of it. This is kind of a damned if I do, damned if I don't scenario.
  17. Hey folks. If you like to have some variety in your life or prefer a Light or a Dark color scheme in particular, you can change the way TGO looks by scrolling way down to the bottom of the page and looking for the "Theme" link. Once there, you can choose between a few different options. Click Theme (1st) and then click whichever color scheme you prefer (2nd), just like this picture shows.

  19. I've had Doug do three or four for me now. He does fantastic work, and his prices and turn-around times are very reasonable. There is a thread on TGO about my custom M&P M2.0 that he did if you want to see more of his work.
  20. I had Doug over at DP Custom Works do the slide for me. He milled it for the optic, milled the front top cocking serrations and then had the whole slide redone in black nitride (Melonite) finish. Custom Slide Work | DP Custom Works LLC
  21. Emerson has had them in stock quite a few times recently. He just went out of stock 2-3 days ago, but bookmark this link and check it daily and you'll catch one: The Elvia - Emerson Knives Inc. Emerson has a "notify me" type option, but a lot of times emails from manufacturers and vendors go out after the knives have already been on their website for a few hours. Once the email goes out, you and everyone else who was waiting for them will pound the website and they'll sell out fast. Just keep an eye on that product page instead.
  22. This is my new Emerson Knives "Elvia" If you already follow Ed Calderon of Ed's Manifesto (edsmanifesto.com) you've undoubtedly seen the Elvia in his social media. Ed is a former Mexican government anti narco-terrorism agent who spent more than a decade fighting against the cartels in Northern Mexico. He has since retired and is now an American citizen and a very well-regarded specialist in anti-abduction, escapology, unarmed combat, region-specific executive protection work, and unconventional-edged weapons work. The Elvia is named in honor of his mother and is based on the design of a kitchen knife that she once used to defend her family. Ed began carrying this type of knife in his work and found it to be incredibly practical. He approached Ernest Emerson along the way and asked Emerson if he could turn the fixed blade design into something foldable. Emerson did. This knife is held and used differently than conventional knives. It maximizes the user's biomechanics and strength to use digging and pulling motions. The result is... brutally efficient.
  23. I am a big fan of TT Gunleather. They have molds for the P365 an P365XL. You can find their holsters here: SHOP OWB HOLSTERS | TTGunLeather
  24. Oh my goodness. I had a Colt Rail Gun but not the Custom Shop version. This is pretty awesome.
