  1. Perry from the TFA Nashville chapter called me again a moment ago and said that while Buford and staff will be at the APPS offices this evening around the time of the scheduled meeting, that the meeting has in fact been called off. Communication continues to be the stumbling block for TFA Nashville. :-\
  2. No offense, but if you met me to buy a handgun and subsequently told me to "get lost" when I presented you with that form, I'd tell you to piss up a burning rope for wasting my time. Then I'd come back here and make a giant post about how you refused to sign something that anyone without a shady background should have had no problem signing.
  3. Though no FFL involvement is necessary, I would strongly encourage all of you to use a form like the one here to document the transaction for your own protection. Should that firearm later be involved in a crime and tracked back to you by the serial number, you will be able to supply the police with the contact information (or at least identity) of the buyer. It's just a good way to cover your butt.
  4. That looks like my cat.
  5. See you soon? I ended up buying some "Boundary" cat repellent spray from the pet store last night. I've sprayed the tree, tree skirt, ornaments, etc. down with the repellent so I guess today will be the test. If I go home and the tree is dismantled again, I'll be calling Frank for one of his Reduced Noise Feline Annoyance Eradication Devices.
  6. I'm back to 20% chance of being there. Looks as though I may have other plans again.
  7. Let's keep this thread on topic.
  8. I'm seriously going to kill my cat. He's fairly young still so I know he's got a lot of kitten left in him, but he's managed to de-ornament and un-tinsel the lower half of the tree a few times in the past three days that I've had the tree up. If I catch him in the act he gets the spray bottle of water, which usually results in him leaving a trail of cat turds as he runs in fear. So, what else can I try to keep him out of the @#$& tree? Ideas already discussed with my brother include... So I am open to other suggestions.
  9. I can't help but wonder... are you worried about something on the background check? I only ask because lately we've had a few stories here about folks who passed the check and then subsequently had their permits revoked when the State discovered things like misdemeanor marijuana use on their criminal record. If you're at all worried about something on your record, you might want to do some checking before you spend your money. :-\
  10. How's it taste?
  11. 3 Doors Down is one of my favorite bands.
  12. I think it was Jeff Cooper who said that the purpose of a handgun is to fight your way to your rifle.
  13. No problem. Thanks to Westwindmike for alerting me. I'm surprised she slipped past the various features that usually block spammers.
  14. Spammer. I just deleted her account.
  15. You've been sneaking around my house?!? Sniff first, turn on electrical appliances second! We don't want a house-sized crater from a methane explosion!
  16. It's the 3rd Tuesday. I keep having brain farts when I type this stuff. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showpost.php?p=28613&postcount=1
  17. No, not every S&W goes through them. I'm sure Joe can explain better.
  18. The stock sights stink. I liked my 10-8 sight from www.10-8performance.com and will order another for the M&P 9 when I get around to picking one up. Another good source for all things M&P is www.mp-store.com I've learned the hard way that most of the time when I suck with a particular gun, it's me and not the gun. Some guns just exacerbate inherent flaws in my shooting style and that leads to greater frustration. But then there's that stupid LEM trigger on the first HK P2000 that I bought...
  19. www.speedshooterspecialties.com They sell replacement guide rods and springs in varying weights. I used their stainless guide rod and a few different springs in my M&P 40 depending on the ammo that I was shooting. Their tungsten guide rod is a nice piece and adds some extra heft to your gun to control flip, but you might not be able to use it in a 3-Gun competition if they require the gun to be the same weight as stock. Regardless, give the M&P a chance to impress you.
  20. I think you're going to find that it's the shooter and not the weapon. I was the exact opposite going FROM that family of handgun to the HK P2000. The M&P tends to be very accurate after you get the hang of it. I shot some of my best scores in USPSA using my M&P 40 and will be picking up a M&P 9 from Joe in a few weeks so that I can resume using one for such purposes.
  21. Just be thankful that you didn't spend $3,000 to get a Nighthawk with Krylon spray-paint coating on it.
  22. The plan as of two months ago was that there would be a TFA meeting the 2nd Tuesday of every month... period. However when you look at the TFA's own message board, there was a post made by John Harris bringing up the idea of canceling the Nov and Dec meetings because of the holidays. At this point I'm starting to feel that whether or not there will be a TFA meeting is rather moot. Chapters in other counties seem to enjoy considerable success while Nashville flounders. Part of why it flounders is the hit-or-miss meeting schedules that have cursed the chapter for a while now. So to answer your question: If they follow the proclamation that we made two months ago, then yes there will be a meeting. Regardless, there will be an informal gathering of TN Gun Owners members at the Picadilly Cafeteria right down the street.
  23. My chances of being there just went up a bit. 80/20.
  24. I think what Joe was saying is that they are the distributor in TN. Not the only shop who sells them.
