  1. Any metal object can crack under the wrong circumstances. Magnafluxing each slide to check for fracture lines would be fairly expensive but this seems to be the approach SIG took with at least that one particular production run of slides. You have to give them credit for that. This could just as easily happen to a Wilson Combat handgun, a Glock, an H&K... you name it. The slide doesn't have to be made of pig metal; it can be forged or CNC cut from cold stock. And it's not limited to just firearms; it's seen in things like engine blocks, brake rotors, bolts, nuts, etc. quite frequently. As long as the manufacturer stands behind the replacement or repair of the firearm and no one gets hurt... I see it as being mildly distressing but ultimately a non-issue. Guns are mechanical. Mechanical things can and will fail.

    S&W Lock ?

Rabbi will be ordering your new piece for you soon.

    S&W Lock ?

All of the M&P automatics can be ordered with or without locks. Depends on your preference.
  4. I think I know where you're headed and I like it. When we were kids, my grandfather used to rope off a sled to the back of his K5 Blazer and tow me and my brother around the streets or around the municipal park. That was some of the most fun I've ever had. Invariably you'd end up with pants legs full of snow from where it was kicked up past your shoes.

    S&W Lock ?

    Whoa... too many details there.
  6. I have beer, unsalted peanuts, a Red Baron pizza in the freezer and lots of other groceries if I have to... {gasp!} break down and really cook something. I've also got a full tank of diesel and a truck that I haven't had the pleasure of cavorting about in when it snows. So... BRING IT!!!
  7. Post pics.
  8. I keeel you!!!
  9. Yeah and you know, since they are sighted in so that the dot and point of impact coincide at about 25yds, you're not going to be able to accurately shoot your thumb off at such a close distance. Just sayin'.
  10. Absolutely pick a date, drive a stake into the ground and tell folks that's it! I shouldn't have muddied the waters with the idea of a Saturday shoot. I'm just suffering powder-burn withdrawals.
  11. How about a Saturday after Thanksgiving meet n' shoot at a local range? Tuesday night is a bust for me. I've got several things going on next week because of the lead-up to Thanksgiving.
  12. My former S&W 1911 had CT grips on it from the factory. I thought they were a nice training aid but I never really could warm up to them for sighting purposes. My eye kept wandering to the dot instead of using it to co-witness my iron sights.
  13. You need to be like the daydream that Ralphie had of his teacher grading his paper in A Christmas Story. A-Plus... Plus... Plus... Plus... Plus!!!
  14. Silence! I keel you! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4y-waHLz-TU[/ame]
  15. If someone here wants to start a monthly middle TN TGO meeting, I'll do everything I can to help from my side. I just don't have the free time to organize it at this point.
  16. *sigh* I think I'm just going to call this a bad investment on my part and just step away from the TFA thing from here on out. At the September meeting we discussed the fact that postponing meetings would kill what little momentum this chapter has. I guess that idea didn't gain any traction.
  17. Big... huge negative point right there.
  18. First I've heard of this.
  19. I borrowed one. Didn't buy it.
  20. Son of a... Well, when you're right you're right. I won't be able to make it next Tuesday as I already have other commitments. Crap.
  21. This thread has become silly and the topic at hand is just divisive... My desire is that citizens arm themselves for their own sake and for the protection of those that they love, as well as to exercise their 2nd Amendment Right to bear arms. What a person carries in regard to firearm type, brand, make or model is going to be as unique as they are. We all have our reasons for choosing the firearms that we do, and while others may not ever agree with those reasons, they made sense to us at the time of purchase. Rather than continue to allow a thread like this to foster contempt among the participants, I am going to close this thread and say this on the subject of how we treat one another: Let's not get mired down in the differences between us but rather focus on the commonalities that bind us together as supporters of 2nd Amendment issues and as enthusiasts of the shooting sports. We can sit here and argue Glock versus Kimber, Colt versus Smith and Wesson, revolver versus automatic and Ford versus Chevy until Hell freezes over but we will have gained nothing in the process. There are so many other productive discussions that we can engage in! So let's do that and put this silly, divisive nonsense to bed. Thanks.
  22. November 20th is the 3rd Tuesday of the month which means that night will be the meeting of the Nashville Chapter of the Tennessee Fireams Association. 6:30 @ Academy of Personal Protection and Safety. Who plans on attending?
  23. I have a red lacquer stick from where I did this to my XD9 back in the day. It was messy but worked well.
  24. Have owned and had zero problems out of both Kimbers and a Smith & Wesson 1911. Have not owned a Springfield but have heard good things from those who do.
  25. I've used one to get my .30-06's scope "on the paper" and then proceeded to dial it in the old fashioned way from there. Really, that's all the manufacturers recommend that you use it for anyway. Just to get it on paper at a certain range so that you can save your ammo for tweaking it.
