  1. Well… there you have your answer. The AG as left the door open with the “substantially similar†language. It’s up to the cop. Obviously the signs conveys the message that they don’t want you to carry. Trust me; you do not want the cost or the risk of going to trial on a weapons charge. Even if it is dismissed the arrest is still there. You are the first person that I have heard of actually having an encounter with real cops over a posted building.
  2. Thanks. I used both. I had that gun for over 10 years and put that finish on by hand with SemiChrome and then maintained it with both SemiChrome and Mothers. I did it in many settings. I have done many stainless revolvers and I really can’t tell a dimes worth of difference in either product for maintenance. I would look for SemiChrome if I was starting from scratch, but sometimes it’s hard to find. I have also used a buffer; but you have to be careful.
  3. Stainless guns are the easiest to keep looking new. If you want a polished finish you can do it by hand with Mothers Mag Polish or SemiChrome; or you can use a buffer. I have used both with excellent results. If you want the original finish you need to have it glass beaded. Here is one I polished… x x
  4. I wouldn’t volunteer to be shot with a spit ball and a straw. Or a BB gun or a pellet gun, or a stun gun, or with bean bags or rubber bullets....
  5. Because it is just one step above a spit ball and a straw. In an armed encounter it has very little chance of stopping the bad guy from shooting you. You have no idea how well you will shoot at something other than a piece of paper. It is however better than nothing. If that’s how you think a carry weapon should be described...go for it.
  6. Thanks TN Hp, thats the info I was looking for. Well kinda… I have a 1000 yard rifle, but I’m not sure I want to be dialing it in at a 1000 yard match.
  7. The magazine disconnect is more of a feature than a safety. No need in getting it if you don’t want it; it comes both ways. The M&P is a great weapon. I hope you enjoy it, and thanks for buying American.
  8. No, I haven’t been there in a year. I’m not really looking for vintage; I’m looking for a shooter. I ran a WTB ad several places and haven’t had a single response other than some high end collectables. I have a couple of guns for sale right now and if I haven’t found something by the time I sell them I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on a new 617. But ya, you’re right. Now that I see that again I don’t know what I was thinking. Look at that wax paper in the box; it’s all wrinkled up.
  9. It tells me that the Supreme Court of Virginia was wrong and the SCOTUS was needed to get them back on track. I don’t think you understand the V<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:State>irginia</st1:State> law, and I’m not 100% sure that I do. But I’m relating it to <st1:State>Illinois</st1:State> law. On a criminal misdemeanor we could give the person an NTA (Notice to Appear without posting bond) or take them to jail; it was the Officers discretion. We didn’t do that on suspended or revoked, we took the driver to jail and towed his vehicle. From what I read <st1:State>Virginia</st1:State> allows their Officers to give them a summons on suspended; but does not require it. If the guy is by himself on the side of the road with a suspended license how will he leave if you let him go? You are being silly now. That is not what the SCOTUS ruled and if it were the cops would not need probable cause for a vehicle search. <st1:City></st1:City> <st1:City>Moore</st1:City> was dirt bag drug dealer driving on a suspended driver’s license. The cops were paying attention and did a good job in putting him in jail. Our founding fathers never intended the fourth amendment to protect criminals from prosecution. They intended it to protect citizens from the kind of searches that were going on in <st1:country-region><ST1:pEngland</st1:country-region>. That is why the fourth contains the word “Unreasonableâ€. Nothing these Officers did was unreasonable and therefore <st1:City>Moore</st1:City> went where he belongs…. in prison.
  10. I have bought from Mike at the Saddle shop. He does transfers or can order what you want. His number is 615-395-7555 if you need it.
  11. I don’t own anything in .223, can you load .308? I have a couple of pretty good platforms to do some testing. A Remington 700 VLS with a Leupold VX-III 6.5-20 LR, or for EBR a DPMS Panther with a Leupold VX-I 3-9.
  12. Well here’s why I believe that, but as I said I don’t know it to be fact. I’m not being a smart azz, this stuff is interesting to me and I want to learn. I have never reloaded a round in my life but I have built tooling for progressive stamping and multi-slide presses that can hold dimensional tolerance in the ten thousandths of an inch range; consistently day in and day out for millions of parts. (I have never seen a commercial ammunition loading press either are you saying they are the same as what Bubba has?). But as I understand it the sizing, cutting to length, and setting the bullet to an exact depth would be critical for a highly accurate round. Right?? So I’m having trouble believing that Bubba in his garage with his $25 Lyman calipers and his $200 Lee press can compete with today’s automation. Maybe he can, someone believes that he can or we wouldn’t be hearing all these “Reloads are more accurate than factory†statements. So fill me in… what’s he doing that the big boys can’t do to make an accurate round? Now… let’s addresses the whole “you will never see any Bullseye or centerfire rifle competition where the top 10 are not reloadersâ€. Doug Koenig, Julie Goloski, and Jerry Miculek (I know they are handgun shooters but I couldn’t think of the names of any rifle pro’s.) all load their own ammunition? I would believe that it is custom loaded, but by who?.... not Bubba. Bubba isn’t measuring a thou with his dial calipers. And no, it isn’t rocket science; I would guess it’s mostly Physics, Metallurgy and ballistics.
  13. I don’t think <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:State>Virginia</st1:State> v. <st1:City>Moore</st1:City> would get an Officer inside a vehicle on a minor ticket, such as speeding. The drugs found on <st1:City>Moore</st1:City> were found on him, not in his vehicle incident to an arrest. <st1:City>Moore</st1:City> was arrested for driving on a suspended license. <st1:State><ST1:pVirginia </st1:State>allows the Officer to give you a summons and release you, but also has provisions for an arrest. I don’t know how <st1:State>Tennessee</st1:State> handles a driving on suspension, but where I was from we took the individual to jail; that allowed the search of him. His vehicle would have been impounded and that means an “inventory search†prior to towing; that covered the search of the vehicle. <st1:City>Moore</st1:City> was a know drug dealer and known to have a suspended license. This guy didn’t have a chance from the get go. That’s a lot different than a stop for a minor traffic violation. Although stops for minor traffic violations can turn to criminal charges pretty quickly based on what is observed when the Officer approaches the car and talks with the driver.
  14. Glaser’s have been frangible since they were invented in the early 70’s. Glaser is the worst choice I can think of for a defensive round in any caliber. They have an application, but defensive carry is not it.
  15. I'll be happy to take that Model 17 off your hands.
  16. A good cop wouldn’t be asking for consent to search your vehicle unless he already had PC. I know this to be fact.
  17. I offer the advice on point instinct shooting because I owe my life to it. The mechanics of my shooting did not even enter my mind. If I had tried to use sights I am sure I would be dead. I’m not sure what your issue is with my statement, but my point is that I am not a Police Officer anymore. I do not have the responsibilities or duties that a Police officer has. If the perp is far enough away that I need to use sights to hit him he is probably not an immediate threat and the risk to bystanders is probably too high. But everyone has to do what they are ready to take responsibility for and every situation is different.
  18. Set of Hogue grips…. $20. Nice laser……………….$5 Roll of duct tape…. …$5 Look on Vero1’s face after he gets everything together…. Priceless.
  19. And if you don’t get this “clear explanation” you will do what?? Many situations can cause a vehicle search; very few of them are going to involve a need for your consent. If you don’t have a carry permit you are just an average citizen. <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:State>Tennessee</st1:State> does not recognize any right to carry under either the U.S. Constitution or their own state constitution. As someone who has been arrested for no crime other than having a gun in my car I can assure this is not the road you want to take. Get your permit. Welcome to Tennessee.
  20. I think they are a cool toy for target shooting. I want a set for my 1911. As far as for defense… chances are that if you ever were in a shooting situation you would not have the time to use a laser or sights. You should be able to hit your target with point instinct shooting. If he is far enough away you need sights, chances are you don’t need to take the shot.
  21. I wouldn’t carry reloads for self defense. But I’ve seen this posted several times about what a DA would do or a jury would think. In my opinion it’s not worth worrying about. If you find yourself facing a jury after a shooting you have way bigger problems than the ammo you used.
