    S&W- M&P .40

Well… the word is they are going to take over the LEO market, which means the civilian market will follow. They are American made, low cost and backed by the best customer support in the industry. They are the “Have it your way†of handguns; various sizes, calibers, options. What’s not to like? Try one.
  2. Those are mere thumbnails of the originals. I reduced them because the forum software does it anyway. If it didn’t most here would not be able to view the originals without using slider bars. I can’t and I have a 24†widescreen monitor. Here is a sample of the focus….
  3. I think the most important thing is that the parent be able to recognize if a child is ready to be able to safely handle a firearm. There are kids that can do that at a very young age and there are kids in their teens that can’t safely handle a firearm (We have all seen adults at the range that are just so clumsy or uncoordinated they shouldn’t be holding a loaded weapon). And your desire for your kid to be able to do it should not enter into it.
  4. Thanks. Have you been drinking again? Be critical. I’m certainly no professional. These are unprocessed, as shot, except for resizing them down for the forum. I was playing with the light and white balance. I have all kinds of ideas for some cool shots.
  5. How many here are into photography and firearms? I just built my first light box yesterday and tried it out tonight. I’m not really happy with the results yet, I think I need different (and more) light. Aren’t guns great models? They don’t move, don’t gripe, and you don’t have to pay them. Here are my first attempts at using a light box. Shot with a Canon 20D, 580EX Speedlite, Sigma 18-50 EX Macro. Post some interesting stuff. And here is my DIY light box. x
  6. Thanks. No, the rubber Hogue grips came on it. I already had the Combat Magnums.
  7. Not that I have found yet. Terry Waldens range is 300 meters. Congrats on the purchase!
  8. I couldn’t find anything in my quest for a used S&W Rimfire revolver; so I decided to go with new. After checking with several places I contacted forum member “Metalhead” Daniel Williams at Guns & Leather in Greenbrier. Not only were they the only place I found that had one in stock but he gave me a very good price. Thanks Daniel. I won’t be able to shoot it for probably a couple of weeks, but here are some pics…. I think it will fit in nicely with the rest of the family…..
  9. They are written by lawyers. If they could be easily understood it would cut down on lawyer’s income. But you are right. The average person should be able to read the law and understand it without having to argue its meaning in court. The way I read the law is that carrying a gun on school property is illegal unless you are dropping off or picking up kids and even then you can't handle the weapon.
  10. It was explained to my friend that federal law does allow it; <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:State>Tennessee</st1:State> law does not.

    Prefered SD Ammo

Well if you look through the “What do you carry†threads, you will see that Hydra Shok is the most popular. You can use either of these, but in a Scandium and Titanium gun you might want to try the .357Mag before buying a bunch of it.
  12. I wasn’t debating his common sense; I directly addressing his statement by stating that open carry is a common sense issue. I know that he is young and I assume that he is trying to decide if it is a good idea or not.
  13. That’s how I see it. No transfer of ownership is taking place; the weapons are simply being transported. If she declares them at the shipper and they take them, I don’t see a problem. However, I am not a lawyer, haven’t played one on TV and didn’t sleep at a <ST1:pHoliday Inn last night.
  14. It’s called common sense. God gave it to you for a reason. And just like intelligence; some people got more than others. How many stories do you need to validate the idea that if you walk around like a cowboy you are going to have a problem?
  15. If you can get your conviction expunged or get a pardon; your rights should be restored. People (especially young people) make mistakes. A violent offender could not get a conviction expunged. I don’t see how this is legal, but a friend of mine just went through it and an attorney told him that no matter what happened to his conviction; <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:State><ST1:pTennessee </st1:State>would not restore his gun rights. Also if you are convicted of misdemeanor “Domestic Violence†your gun rights are gone under Federal law. I have made a lot of “Domestic Violence†arrests. Arrests that I would not have normally made; but our discretion was taken away. It’s wrong.
  16. You did the right thing; the Sheriff is the CLEO not the Chief Deputy. But I doubt it would matter anyway.
  17. This is a pic of a set of Magnums I had, they cover most of the metal on the grip. I don’t have a pic of service grips but they are smaller and you can see the frame all around the grip.
  18. Well of course they don’t. That’s a good price. If I saw that I probably would have bought it. Are the “wood grips†Magnums or service grips?
  19. No fingerprints, No interviews. This is not a license to be a dealer, so they just send it to you.
  20. I guess I’m the odd man out on this issue. I’m not sure what the latest versions of the bills are, but I don’t think a person has anymore business drinking and carrying than they do drinking and driving. Maybe it comes with having to deal with the results of both to often. I don’t have a problem with letting a person carry in a restaurant that serves liquor as long as he is not consuming alcohol…. at all.
  21. Could it be a 7.62 X 25 Tokarev? 7.63 is a Mauser, but could fire in it. If it’s a Vietnam bring-back it won’t have a safety on it and could be valuable.

    New S&W snub

The pre-locks or without a lock are more desirable if you decided to sell. Many see the locks as “lawyer Guns”. I have only heard of one case where there was a problem with the lock (from a person I thought to be reputable). He dropped a J-frame (I think it was) and it locked. S&W is offering M&P’s with or without locks and their 1911’s don’t have locks. So I don’t know why they haven’t dropped the locks on revolvers yet. I expect they will. This is the first I have heard of a new production revolver being offered without the lock (other than those for overseas shipment). I’m looking at buying a new Smith & Wesson revolver right now, and probably as soon as I buy it they will drop the locks. Oh well, it’s just a range gun.
  23. Joe at Hero Gear put one on a rifle and put it in my hands. I was impressed it was pretty cool. I just wanted one to play with so I couldn’t justify the over $500 price tag on the EOtech. I bought an AimShot HG-M1 for around $140. It has FAR more parallax than what I saw in the EOtech.
  24. I just went through the same thing; I didn’t really need security, but wanted a fire safe. There aren’t any; not without spending multiple thousands on a real safe. Your guns won’t survive a fire in any of these $1K safes. This seems to be the best recommendation I have seen: Buy a steel box for security and add a firearms rider to your insurance policy for fire.
