  1. No, Wal-Mart has a policy against ballistic missile launching devices. Hero-Gear or Dick’s would probably trade you some ammo for it though.
  2. Absolutely you should go to the source of the problem; and it’s not the government. The American consumer defines our economy. The government placing restrictions on China would be seen as an act of war. Just as the oil embargo was seen as an act of war by the Japanese. The American people have to decide what they want the future of their children and grandchildren to be and act accordingly. This ain’t rocket science.
  3. This is rumored to be a snap shot of the new skipper..
  4. Terms don’t mean much anymore, hence my comment about “huntingâ€. Barack Obama wants to ban all semi-automatic weapons. I think he counting on the fact that many won’t know what that will mean. They don’t just want your EBR’s. They want your 1911’s, M&P’s, Remington 1100’s, and all Tupperware guns. After they get those they will get your 870’s and your 686’s. I collect military and law enforcement weapons. Every rifle I have is a semi-auto with the exception of my 03 <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City><ST1:pSpringfield</st1:City>; and I bet he will try to add some “designed for military use†language that would let him get that also. <O:p</O:p
  5. I hate to see anyone claim they are anti-gun control and then try to somehow imply that gun laws might take firearms away from hunters. <O:p</O:p I am not a hunter. I think there is something wrong with people that kill for sport. However I do not see any problem with killing a criminal that is trying to kill you. <O:p</O:p Assault rifles were not designed for hunting, and I have more of a right to own one for the protection of my life and my family than some dumbazz traipsing through the woods that thinks killing Bambi at 100 yards with a scoped rifle is some great accomplishment. <O:p</O:p
  6. I don’t have a mounting problem; that’s an Amega ranges mounting rail in the pic in my first post. The problem I have is that the Garand ejects the shell casing's out the top.
  7. Thanks, I don’t really need a picture. (Although gun pictures are always great. ) But I would be interested to see what you thought if you tried to look through that scope at 12-14 inches. The link you posted says the eye relief is 4.3”.
  8. I’m just looking for maybe a 1-4X variable. Bushnell lists this scope on their website as a rifle scope while it is listed most other places as a handgun scope. But it says the eye relief is 9"-26â€. Wonder how it would be? It's $155 at Midway. Bushnell Trophy 2-6x 32mm Multi-X Reticle Matte http://www.bushnell.com/general/riflescopes_trophy_73-2632.cfm
  9. Well I finally put the Garand back together after finishing the new Wenig stock. I’m still not completely happy with the finish on the stock, but it’s because of me not the Wenig stock. That’s okay; I will refinish it again later. I also put the “CMP Garand Scout†scope mount on. Now I need to decide on a scope. Recommendations? I wonder how far back I could sneak before I had to worry about an ejected casing hitting the scope? I need about 14†of eye relief if I have to stay at the back of the scope mount.
  10. I don’t know who these guys are or what happened in Iraq. But this shows that they are totally clueless about civilian law and how to handle the aftermath of a shooting. If you have a bad or questionable shooting; then yes keep your mouth shut and tell them you would like to call your lawyer. But you better have the number of a lawyer and he better be able to get there right away. Because without your side of what took place the chances are high that you are going to find yourself in jail. If I just killed a guy and I am clear in my mind that it was a good shoot; I’ll be dammed if I’m going to alienate the responding and investigating Officers. There is nothing wrong with calling an attorney if you like; but if you are going to play that card, make sure you have a phone number for your attorney where you can get him in the middle of the night to come to the scene. (A call to your divorce or tax attorney is not the call you want to be making at this time.) This is why I have said before that a carry class should include someone from the States Attorneys Office in your County. If I have questions about law I don’t want to hear the opinions of Rambo wanna be’s, NRA trained instructors, Cops or even someone that slept at a Holiday Inn last night. I want the opinion of someone that works in the office that will be making the decision of whether or not I am charged with a crime. As a former cop this is just common sense to me. I see that many of you here have some kind of instructor title in your sigs, have you tried to do this? Is the problem that they will not come? Is Yeager a criminal lawyer where you reside? If not why not get your info from the real deal? On a different note… Don’t run off and hide; you obviously have something to offer. If you posted what you did just to share your expeience with others; that’s good. It sounds like some of them have some information that you may not have known. If you posted as a plug for their training… well that didn’t go so well; did it? Good luck.
  11. There’s no hidden agenda or plan to grow bigger government (the Democrats are going to do that with or without gun control). It’s just desperation. They see gang bangers and thugs killing innocent people and think something needs to be done. They don’t stop and think that if all guns magically disappeared tomorrow; gang bangers and thugs would still be killing innocent people. Many of them don’t know anything about firearms. When they hear Barrack Obama say he wants to ban all semi-automatic weapons; they think he is talking about assault weapons. They don’t know that he’s talking about their neighbors Remington 7400 deer rifle, his 1100 shotgun, and most modern handguns.
  12. Heres an interesting read... http://apnews.myway.com/article/20070817/D8R2UKLG0.html

    Its on the way!!

I would guess those are your problems. I would guess that after you get it home and give it a good cleaning and lube; you will probably see better results next time. My Kimber would handle WWB just fine and that’s pretty cheap. It needs a minor break in, but it is after all a Kimber. If you put a couple hundred more rounds through it and are still having problems I would send it back to Kimber and let them give it some special attention. And yes… if there is a back up at the pearly gates 1911 shooters get to slip past the Tupperware shooters.
  14. About 400 rounds of Lake City and another 400 of HXP in 8 round Garand en blocs. But I’ve got a hungry Garand also.
  15. I'm sitting on hundreds of rounds of Lake City 30-06 M2 ball. And no matter how hard I wish; this Panther won't eat it.
  16. So you are at $176.50 for 1000 rounds and you don't have any brass yet? How many times (approx) can you reload a .45ACP (lets say a WWB case) after shooting it in a semi-auto?
  17. I’m looking for some .308 Winchester. Here are their prices. It doesn’t include shipping, but they are only 240 miles away. .308 Winchester "Canned Heat" Georgia Arms 150gr Full Metal Jacket 250pk $120.00 .308 Winchester "Canned Heat" Georgia Arms 150gr Full Metal Jacket 500pk $235.00 .308 Winchester "Canned Heat" Georgia Arms 150gr Full Metal Jacket 1000pk $460.00
  18. I wish some of you guys would fill us in. I’ve looked at reloading and I can’t see how I can save a dime. I have no desire to take it up as a hobby; I already have too many of those. And I have no desire to make custom loads. But I would do it if it was worthwhile. I ain’t shootin’ lead semi-wadcutters either. Most of the threads on the forums I have seen about it say that you really can’t save any money. But… I have no idea. So what’s the straight story…
  19. That’s absolutely correct. But favors are owed and can be called in. The SCOTUS has chosen (so far) not to hear cases where the question of the 2nd as an individual right will be answered. If they could be influenced to hear one of those cases, I suspect the ruling will open the door for states to ban whatever they like.
  20. <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 /><st1:State>Switchblades are cover by state law. Here is what the Tennessee criminal code says about it.</st1:State> <st1:State> </st1:State><st1:State>“Affirmative defense†and “Preponderance of the evidence†tells me that if you are going to claim to be a collector, you are going to be doing it in court after you have been arrested. That’s not a very good “loop holeâ€. </st1:State> <st1:State></st1:State> <st1:State> </st1:State>
  21. There are no gray areas to the ATF. I’m going to guess that the cop didn’t let him go home to think it over; so what happened? <O:p</O:p
