  1. I will try to make a meet-n-greet on a Saturday night or a Sunday afternoon. Probably won't shoot, but would like to come socialize with some TGOers from the ghetto end of TN. Local restaurant or RUSA, either one works for me.
  2. That is a pretty cool idea. The heck with IDPA, I want it for my carry gun! *off topic* When ya gonna man up and come shoot with us??
  3. It makes a lot more difference when put in a holster than the pic would indicate. I would rather carry a 23, but sometimes go with this exact setup for better concealment. That extra 1/2" of backstrap on the 23 sometimes pokes out at the worst of times. Bobtail 1911s use the same logic. Here are two pics I took a while back illustrating the same thing:
  4. 21SF and 30SF are the fourth generation. The pic is more than likely a hoax. Sooner or later, most Glocks will have the option of the useless (for lefties) ambi mag catch. Righties may appreciate it more, but it serves no purpose for southpaws.
  5. tadams: Just a little tape on the inside of the vest on the gun side (left for me) reduces the "flopiness" of fleece. [/url]
  6. You would probably suprise yourself--I have been smoked more times than I care to remember by guys who were fatter and older than me. NEVER judge an opponent by the way he looks, whether it is in an IDPA match or a fistfight.
  7. As it gets colder, I'll start wearing more Columbia fleece vests over a long sleeve t-shirt or flannel shirt. A little athletic tape on the strong side stiffens the vest for an easier draw, and it looks like all the other fleece vests everybody else in the mall is wearing.
  8. Bushmaster Carbon 15 9mm. Hands down the funnest rifle I've ever owned. No pics, but it looks like this: http://www.bushmaster.com/catalog_carbon15_AZ9-C15R16FT.asp
  9. Been a member for many years and am, frankly, a bit suprised at how many people on this thread aren't members.
  10. +1 I usually carry with an untucked polo. When I first started doing this, I thought it looked a bit slobbish, but I actually blend in very well. Combine it with a Callaway or Ping hat, and I look like some harmless kid who just came from the golf course.

    New to Glock

Right. Instead, they could get a S&W Glock (aka M&P) and be somehow magically good to go when they put their finger all over the trigger before the gun clears the holster.
  12. It's a little trouble to get to, but worth the effort, IMO. Duane Thomas wrote this article in the November edition of the Blue Press (Dillon's monthly catalog/magazine). I'm not trying to revive the recent dead-horse thread about how IDPA can get you killed, but this article addresses some of the issues in that thread. When he refers to frequent participation in combat pistol matches as "training," I cringed a little. However, I don' think Thomas meant that competition should substitute for actual training; I think he meant for it to maintain skills and techniques learned in training. Just my $.02. New to Glock

STARTING at $15.99. Some of them (the ones I wanted) are $24.99.
  14. I would prefer a Glock 19, but beggars can't be choosy
  15. Tungsten, beware--I have Sevigny Competition sights on my G34, and they WILL RUST. I keep a light coat of oil on them, and they do ok. Love 'em otherwise.
  16. G34 owner here, and I love it. Mine is stock, except for a set of plain black Sevigny Competition sights (which many use on carry guns). Sights and all, I believe I have about $680 in it (new). When I'm not shooting IDPA matches, my favorite thing to do with it is shooting steel silhouette targets at 55 yards. Be warned--your 19 and 26 may feel neglected.
  17. I'm not as tough as you--my curls are only a 1/4 pound each.
  18. Manchester video is up. I am in about half the videos, and am the lefty with the green vest and desert camo pants. Memphis Mechanic is the blond guy w/ black sleeves and no hat. It wasn't my best effort, but I was happy to still take home a plaque. Watch stage 10 for one of my world-class four second reloads. I shoved the mag in crooked, it bounced out, I tried again and body-slammed the mag. Oops. On stage 15, I do my Leaning Tower of Pisa imitation. And on 16, I should have gotten a procedural (which would not have made any difference in final standings), and I believe I had a shooter-induced malfunction. I'm still trying to figure out what happened on that stage. I fumbled reloads and made up too many shots all day, but still did ok. http://www.tristateshooters.com/forums/showthread.php?t=273
  19. Here's the notorious group of Memphis IDPA shooters who went to the TN State Championship in Manchester. We brought home a couple plaques. Even though I had a lousy day, I still managed to take SSP Div. Champ. I guess everybody else in SSP shot like crap, too. It was a pleasure to meet NashvilleBill in person--looking forward to seeing you again at another match. Sooner or later, I'll post a link to some match footage (whenever Memphis Mechanic finishes editing it).
  20. I got a milkshake at Burger King every day last week. This week has been much better, though. About five years ago, I decided to drink a glass of water instead of the coke that I would have had. NO BS, I lost 8 lbs in two weeks. Went from 180 down to 172. Only problem now is, I don't drink that much coke.
  21. LOL, I know the ones you're talking about. I detail strip mine three or four times a year, but the pins don't fall out yet.
