  1. if you want a nice mid tier build, Aero has some good combos at various discounts, and will offer more going into the 4th. no tax and free shipping. Sign up for notification until you get want you need. Note that some of the more desirable upper setups can sell quickly.
  2. Welcome from another expat. How about those first couple buys? No roster and that giddy feeling of walking out with it, no waiting period. 4 years later, still awesome! If you ever need affirmation of your choice, buy a new gun Fair warning, the mag replacements seem cheap at a few bucks a piece, but really adds up FAST. I wore the numbers off a couple credit cards inside 3 months. Enjoy!
  3. Yep, exactly what I meant in that last thought. Either maintenance or the Bubba factor. The low price point of the 320, good bet it’s more Bubba.
  4. Ever since the 320 came out it’s been a target based on the known problem of failed drop tests. Even with recall fixes, it wouldn’t be hard to convince the right jury for a shark of an attorney. There is also a precedent with another officer that will help folks queue up for Sig dollars. An officer a couple years prior to this sued Sig claiming the same. Dont recall her name or PD. Sig settling out of court. The buffet is now open. Is it possible? Maybe. Thing is you don’t know what all has been done to them. I have 3 FCU’s with numerous grip modules and slides. Usually have another 320 in my nightstand. Never happened to me.
  5. If you want the best front sure tool for the range, they are on all for &30 plus shipping. https://www.magna-matic-defense.com/akfst-blemished-unit/ If you prefer the beat it with a rock method from the field manual, carry on.
  6. CCR refinished my 1911 with their CPII plating and they did a fantastic job. https://www.ccrrefinishing.com/
  7. It is a compact with 4” side. the full size has a longer grip and you can’t run the x-grip on it like the compact pictured here. that x-grip in the pic is a mag sleeve spacer that allows you to run the full size mag 17 round mags and mimics the full size grip shape at the bottom. OP said 16 round since that is the largest number stamped on the counter, but they hold 17, 15 on the standard compact mags you’d use without the spacer.
  8. Best guess, what do you all think they’ll do? With all the rumblings of a 75 point hike, the action today didn’t suggest increasing concern with moderate selling and a big closing uptick. With that and prior statements, I’m leaning status qou. Not as flexible as was hinted. As much as reactions over the last year have occasionally surprised by moving contrary to the news, should be interesting.
  9. If only I hasn’t reversed my shift patterns all those years ago!
  10. the prior 3 years I spent a bit of the summers in deep south GA taking care of properties that are mostly on partial wetlands. Sand and weaponized biting insects everywhere. higher heat and humidity than here. I appreciate it here much more! I appreciate having 3 AC guys in my phone even more.
  11. That’s great, all these years I never knew that had a fitting designation. unfortunately a lot of CA folks are use to high heat. In the north valley where I was. 30+ days over 100 was not uncommon. Along with several days over 110. humidity was only 40 to 50%, but didn’t seem to make a huge difference on days in the brutal temps. Biggest difference was I only needed 2 dehumidifiers in my safe there. I’m up to 10 now here.
  12. I went with an EMP when I looked at the wee 1911’s. Same size really. the squared msh sticks out with my car mode. They fixed that with the EMP4, but didn’t want to hassle with the Ti firing pin again. You touched on the big thing, how one prefers to carry is the big thing. You must have some crazy big pockets!
  13. I expand on the idea of carry and practice for two different scenarios. One on my person vs a different gun in the vehicle. Both 9mm for me. I carry a G19 in the car. I can’t conceal it well enough to carry with preferred carry mode unless I have outer layers. For the sake of constancy, I end up sticking to a single carry gun vs switch around or vary by season. So a micro compact ends up being my person. I envy folks that manage to hide a 1911. Anything that is not those I consider range / fun. If I feel I am not current enough on my practice for carry, I will work out any flinch reactions or anticipation by a quick desensitizing. Jump to to a high flip or concussion caliber. 1 mag or two thru commander size 1911 or a mag of 357sig in a G32C saves me 50+ rounds of 9mm.
  14. I am not sure the significance is fully appreciated in context of our current environment. Keeping in mind these inaccuracies and liberties with figurative references are meant to create mental images to sway opinion and "educate" voters who have no knowledge of firearms in the absence of empirical evidence. Considering this context, accurate representations and semantics do matter and should be challenged imo. Fair in both directions. Just the facts, no hyperbole for the sake of an agenda. Perhaps some are allowing the well known idiom, 'blow someone's head off' (headshot irrespective of damage level) as close enough. You shouldn't give gun grabbers close enough. In this case, they are selling it in the literal sense however. As in zero tissue above neck / decapitation based on phrasing and reference to legs being severed from body. The lesser damage (even though severe) that is typical simply does not give the powerful imagine they want. I hold that under normal circumstances a single 223 will not sever / guillotine / remove either a leg or head from the body in the literal sense. Reduced cranial contents is not the same thing. That round is not doing anything new it has not been in the past, just because there is new reason to use the momentum of shooting events to turn it into a guillotine of death. I would ask how that may be disingenuous? Not sure why are we wanting to give them piece(s) of missing skull and tissue = decapitation to use against us? For what its worth, I don't see offering other high power rounds as a defense as a good idea. It just feeds into their position and makes them targets without countering the issue of liberties being taken. Random thought. Someone shot in the lung with a reasonable velocity 9mm would end up with an exit wound, decent damage, and some lung tissue out that exist wound. And of course, loss of lung in some cases. But did note folks having issue with the premise that exaggerations where being used to drive the unknowing. Guess some have different thresholds for exaggeration
  15. I've got one of these: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1040332264?pid=810957 I've had it several years, it works well enough. The front portion has enough heft that you can see very minor repeatability shifts on re-eating in bore or if you thump it on accident. It claims to have a very strong magnet, could use a stronger one to prevent any shifting. That said, I only use it when I cant do a conventional boresighting like a couple others mentioned.
  16. Fair to say they are using the full set of tricks. Hyperbole or gross exaggeration aimed at a specific weapon some want to see banned. Does that turn the AR into a decapitation or limb removal tool?? Heck no. No one is having a good day if shot in the head with any firearm. Attempting to roll the specifics of a certain amount of tissue damage / derangement in support of that agenda or spreading an unsubstantiated media narrative doesn’t strike me as the best idea. But, internet to the rescue! There is proof! M16 shot…yep…blows that head clean off the body, no problem
  17. Sounds like that kind of expert may be making it's rounds. In conjunction with this was was another article that was similar to the one your referring to. It was an female Indian ‘trauma surgeon’ who is actually an anti gun activist. Her premise was the AR is not survivable, with enough factual info on velocity, cavitation, and footage of fragmentation in ballistic gel to make her next leaps easy for the anti gunners to buy. She went on to infer how much safer handgun accidents at home are for children playing with a gun they found, as they can pretty much always save them. Leaving out placement, a directed shot vs AD peripheral wound, etc., leaving out the typical use case of ARs being deliberate shootings and taking info from .gov studies and development of the round. The leap and inference in relation to children was there are equal numbers of young kids playing with ARs shooting themselves as if its comparable to them playing with handguns. Sure….. that sounds right? Hell, a I’m sure it would be easy to find at least one person with to much time on there hands who will run out to youtube to find “proof” that ARs always blow heads clean off and expect everyone is confused enough to think it’s a thing.
  18. I do avoid most media, as its primarily biased. Every once in a while you see something go by you can't leave alone. Today that was the media trying to feed the uninformed some misrepresentations about the AR and its round with the help of Charleston officials. I won't bore you the details around the misrepresentations, but a couple pics from the screen seem to summarized well. Sorry for the low quality. Some 'expert' disinformation from the Charleston.
  19. That was the thing I had some choice words for, I settled on calling it theater trying to be mindful while cursing to myself. What amazes me the most is how their mindless supporters can be ok with these tactics, without any regard for the trauma it could inflict and loose morals it took to take advantage of this child. It seems so transparent. Speaks volumes about their support base in addition to the complete hypocrisy of ‘looking out for kids’. It’s surely a sign of desperation. They know they can’t win on logical merits, so trying to froth up an angry mob with pitchforks and torches is where they went.
  20. Story developing. Buzz words flying. Officials reported there were multiple victims following what one lawmaker described as a “mass shooting” in the Maryland town of Smithsburg on Thursday
  21. No surprises here with the house https://edition.cnn.com/2022/06/08/politics/house-gun-reform-package-vote/index.html And the theater continues
  22. heck, If it looks like it’s happening, I’d be tempted to max a card buying a bunch of lowers.
  23. Thanks. Some of their Gen 3 autos wouldn’t be bad either
  24. Challenge accepted! Sold my 5” 629. If you find yourself with an extra 4” double lug 44mag Smith…. Been keeping my eyes open for a 329, but they are a bit more scarce than they used to be.
