Great story JAB. But Dang Man! I'd pulled that toilet out, snake and all, at the 1st sighting! It's in my marriage contract...snakes in the house must die...at least that's what my Dear Wife says... :ugh:  LOL.     I've shot a bunch of shot shell through .38's and .357's and .44's. I generally load my own with #12 shot. .22 Federal rat shot is great stuff. But all of the shot has very limited effective range. With home brewed you can kick it up a notch though.

I use a Dillon 550B and mostly reload 9mm.   I've gone through about 10,000 Wolf SPP (and Mag SPP... my preference for 9mm) with zero issues. I just finished my 1st 1000 Tula SPP and also has zero issues with seating the primers.   The only time I've had any trouble seating any primers in my 550 are with S&B brass (with the red sealant ring around the primer pocket). I separate those out for a later pocket reaming...   I prefer Winchester or Federal...but they are like looking for unicorns these days...besides, the Wolf and Tula have been about $30.00 less per 5000 than the Federal or Winchester...but that's kind of a moot point these days. :-\

Have you tried [url=http://www.gunpartscorp.com/] Numrich "Gun parts"[/url]?   I did a quick look, but needed more specifics, like model number to refine the search.   They frequently get parts in. I've been buying from them for over 20 years, Great company imho.

All things reloading, like all things ammo, are in great demand, and short supply at the moment...a bit of a challenge to locate.   Once you have decided on what you want to reload first, and I would start with 45 acp as Jonnin suggested, start working on gathering the supplies. Be patient. There is no reason to pay ridiculously high prices for components.   David (DLM here at TGO) should be able to help you with the gear.   I have RCBS, Lyman, and Lee dies that have been in use for over 25 years.   Once you've gathered your gear and made a decision as to bullet type, weight, and your perceived need (target-practice-match etc) I'm sure the good folks here will assist with specifics.   Good Luck and welcome to a fine addiction. :pleased:  

    I agree.   And if you have your C&R on file with them (no "dealer pricing" on this stuff LOL), they charge an extra $4.00 because the order is less than $50.00.   I appreciate Midway, it's a great company with excellent selection and great customer service. But the S&H fees eat you up...whatever handling is... :cool:

Well, if nothing else, this whole "post-Newton Obama scenario" has been a lesson in patience for me.   The .22 I ordered is for a buddy that's relatively new to shooting. I know for him, and many, it's a paradigm shift.   I have/had backorders the past 6 months with Midway, Graf's, Brownells, and now Cabelas. Many have shipped and I have no personal reason to think the rest won't. These 4 companies have always represented excellent quality and customer service in my experience.   Another lesson I've learned is that procrastination is not beneficial.  :squint:  I've never dipped into my baseline stores, and I'm shooting pretty much the same as before...but there is a certain level of anxiety regarding replenishment of personal stock.   Slowly "shootin' stuff" is becoming available... I'll be stacking it even deeper than before. It's my own fault if I get caught short on anything in the future. So, for me? Lesson learned. :2cents:

So far that has not been my experience with Tula primers in my Glock 17 and 19.   I picked up a 5000 lot case of SPP last fall from Graf's...for $96.00( of course Hazmat...but I had several pounds of powder in the order for offset). They are the Lead Free btw. I just started using them about a month ago. I've had probably 4 failures out of 500 rounds. No better, no worse than what I've come to expect from the Wolf primers I've used the past few years. So that seems like an inordinately large amount of failures, at least from my experience.   Have you ever had any issues using CCI primers (fairly hard primers) in your Glock?

As of 1300 today, Turkey Creek Walmart had a couple of boxes of .38 spl...hadn't seen that in a long time it seems, and several boxes (20 rds) of Winchester 5.56 55gr for $12.99/box. They still consistently carry 40 S&W for $19.99/50rds.   I didn't need anything, just picking up an LED light for my 550 press (charged case inspection)...but I thought I'd pass the info along.

    No worries here. I'm just trying to pick some up for a friend. And backorders eventually ship...most of the time anyway.   I have backordered powder coming (shipped) from a few months back and at pre- stupid pricing. (Graf's, not Cabelas)   Better to have the potential than to miss the opportunity completely. :2cents:

I received a confirmation on the Win-M22. Looks like it's on backorder with a tentative arrival date of 5/25.

Maybe I'm just trying to be an optimist...but it sure seemed to last longer than what has become the "norm".   If/when this comes in it's for one of my shooting buds anyway...gotta get him out to the Steel Matches. :pleased:

    Absolutely Sir. I think the point is to appeal to the uninitiated...and the uninformed. If he popped them each with a single headshot, the anti's would be screaming that all we "need" is a 2 round mag. :cool:

I received the below load data yesterday (while I was at work) from Ben Amonette at Alliant: "With American Select and a 147 gr lead bullet, I suggest starting with 2.9 grs and the max should be approx. 3.3 grs." I do accept that this is cautionary load data. I'll start low and work up and see how it goes. I've flattened a few primers and blow a few cases over the years...enough to have me not wanting to repeat it again...so easy does it. :pleased:

OK...I know it's down to the wire...But didn't I read somewhere that there is still a couple of slots open and a few more days before it's closed?   My Buddy Neil told me today that his schedule has opened and he'd like to shoot this match. Neil is an ORSA and IDPA Member...I can contact John and see if we can get him classified if he can still get in.   Any help appreciated.
