  1. Well if it is you have no worries at all see:
  2. +1 for the P22. My P22 has been perfection. Super fun gun to shoot. I got it used so it was already broken in. I only run decent ammo through it. Either CCI Mini mag or Stingers. Remmington Golden Bullets work flawlessly as well and are a little less than the CCI stuff. I have had some FTEs with the cheap stuff. If you get one don't bother with the cheap ammo, the better stuff is still relatively inexpensive.
  3. Sure hope none of us ever have to find out. However, because you are here, I assume most of us are prepared to do what we have to if we have to. I feel sorry for the OP's friend being a defenseless victim bc you are concerned on how you would feel if you had to defend yourself is beyond myopic. I would be far more crushed if something happened to my family and I was unable to act, than if I was able to defend them or myself for them. I believe there is precious little we can do to help with the after effects other than resolve not to be victims.
  4. I know we could all sign up for our own personal then we would never have to worry about it......anymore.
  5. It's not really a key chain size deal about the size of a credit card 4.3" x 2.7" x 0.9"; Weight: 4.2 oz fits well in a front pocket and has an integrated clip. There is a trigger guard and the trigger feels fairly stiff I think it would be hard to have an accidental discharge.
  6. +1 Kingtone I like to hear the differing opinions as well. As well as the comic relief. This is how we can learn and help each other out.
  7. Nice..."honey I can still shoot OK..oh and we need a new garage door and ummmm a car." Well done glad your up to it.. be safe.
  8. WOW One problem there I'd be skerd he had a little brother sitll in the river... think I'd stay and fight it out with the one in the boat. My backup is usually a nice blade and I think I could take em.
  9. +1 for that. I could not agree more after seeing it once I pulled the trigger I wished I had bought 2 or 3 more. 1 for me and a floater so to speak. It is on my list...if I find it locally I will buy, or on my next order from Midway to piggyback shipping.
  10. Haah nice. Even back then as a kid I wondered why I liked those guys so much when they were such bad shots. At least MacGyver didn't bother to carry a gun cuz he would have always missed too. But man oh man duct tape and a swiss army knife.....
  11. No doubt there. I just like the concept of this better for her, and more importantly she likes it better. Easier to conceal, explosive delivery system instead of aerosol, less risk of blowback, just a better overall package. Just throwing it out there for those who may have never seen this option. The whole package is just less intimidating and more efficent. JMHO. The spray delivery types she has had she quit carrying for one reason or another, but this thing fits perfectly in a cel-phone pocket in her purse and it fits in the palm of her hand perfectly for those lonely walks to the car in the parking lot at work. Believe me I'd be happier if she had a 1911 but that is still down the road a bit.
  12. Paid $32.99 for mine from Midway on sale, right now they are $39.99 at Midway. Not sure if any local shops carry them, did not find any here around Chatt town sometimes it's just easier to order online than go hunting for what you want. Not a bad deal IMO.
  13. If your wife is like mine and won't carry (yet) buy her this: Kimber Pepper Blaster. I had no trouble convincing her to carry this at all and after some research I think it is one of the best OC options out there. Plus it gets them used to being armed with something, and a quality OC option is better than no option. JMHO.
  14. Congrats to you both. I'm workin on my wife too. I would love for her to carry I think once she gets more comfortable with handguns in general she will. She like many people is intimidated by the mere sight of a firearm, but that changes with experience, just need that range time, can't seem to get it done. For anyone like me who has a wife on the fence about carry please look into the Kimber Pepper Blaster it is an awsome OC option IMHO. Should not be too hard to convince her to carry that plus at around $35 a very affordable way to give her options in case God forbid she ever needs some.
  15. That is awesome. Seriously I agree with you getting home is #1 all else is secondary. The problem I see with this hypothetical is it I think it would be difficult to get into a position to take a safe shot. In the situation the OP describes you could endanger the clerk you would be trying to protect by firring. Second if you change your angle to the side you could perhaps send a flyer straight out the front window into the parking lot. Or for those who carry the hand cannons you could go straight through the bad guy and into the pregnant lady pumping gas outside. All in all the situation would be very, very dicey. I think I would head for the twinkies prepare and try to posture for the best angle if I did have to fire. That said with you behind the BG, you have options. I don't think the advice from PDTV is all that bad most of the time I would think that there is a buddy just outside in the get-a-way car and if everyone just stays calm they will be burning rubber out of the parking lot in just a few seconds. $$ is not worth a firefight.
  16. Nice, my wife is excited about shooting some pistols, and has no problem with my carrying, can't wait to get her to the range. Guns sitll make her a bit nervous but I'm confident that once she she sends some lead down range I'll be pullin out the CC to buy her her first carry piece, and get her HCP all set. BTW nice pistola choice there on the EMP. That is the one I got my eye on as a primary carry piece. I have a thread ont he handgun forum Springfield EMP or Para Hawg 9, your feedback woud be much appreciated there. I may just have to spring for 2 (I could live with that).

maybe we do need more gun control....
  18. Oh don't you know....that plus many other many lessons learned and improved tactics. But I know I learn something new EVERY day here. I respect all of the opinions on this forum...including the ones that are wrong just kiddin.
  19. Congrats, yup seems to work every time. Just be nice and move to the head of the line. Wal-mart awaits.
  20. Apologize poak, I see your point here now...I guess that one is a matter of preference. I just like having the safety on on all my weapons....how I learned how I train, also why both of my carry guns are the identical set up just different size and cal. It is what I know. No different than carrying cocked and locked really... you still have to sweep the safety, the only difference is in a 1911 format all shots are SA not DA/SA. But the fact that you have to sweep the safety still exists. You just gotta go with what you are comfortable with. As always just my humble Be safe!
  21. Not necessarly a problem.... If your set up is like either of my carry guns the safety is a decocker and there is no way to carry cocked and locked like a 1911 (safety on = hammer down). So it is perfectly acceptalbe, and very safe to carry with the hammer down and safety on, (I do it every day and have tested the effectiveness of the system beyond any doubt) that is the way that pistol is designed. With the safety on, the fireing pin is blocked and the trigger is disenguaged. Safer than any striker fire pistol with no safety, that = a gun that is cocked and unlocked. Just MHO. You have an extra step: sweep the safety, this enguages the trigger and unblocks the fireing pin, then bang. So just be aware of your guns specific safety features and be sure this is how your gun works, I'd bet it does. As for the nightly unload...no. Like others have said extra unnecessary handling of the weapon is just not needed. If you are doing that for safety reasons I suggest a gun safe, you should have one anyway. Again all JMHO.
  22. Nice pistola love 1911's
  23. Congrats. Yup I waited 6 weeks then called on a Monday had my HCP the next Monday.
  24. Winchester Defender with 7 in the tube +5 in a stock saddle, empty chamber and safety on. That is just how I have always kept and trained with it. The few times I have had to turn into captian underpants in the middle of the night the safety goes off on picking up the gun, then the slide lock is deactivated. If I have to fire immedately the action on the Winchester is extreemly fast and would not be much of a delay (besides if I fealt an immedate threat I would chamber a round on picking the gun up for sure). However, if it is the standard you think someone is in or around your home situation I prefer to keep the chamber empty then if you do stumble across a human (or zombie) you can point, rack the slide and observe the reaction. I really don't want to kill anybody, and if they flee immedately or surrender then the threat is over, if not lead will fly. Also this configuration gives you a secondary opportunity to be SURE you want to fire. My wife and I had a very dangerous double back situation once that could have been very, very bad with a condition 1 weapon. We both thought the other was in another area of the house and came upon each other in a low light, high stress situation. We both thought we had found an intruder. After a lot of confusion and screaming we figured out what was up. We learned a lot that night and if I had a pistol in my hands or a shotgun with one in the chamber for that matter, I fear I may have shot her that night. Now that we have kids, a different house, some experience, and a plan I don't think that would ever happen again , but it could. I see nothing wrong, even if you do find an inturder in your home, in racking the slide and demanding compliance-- and then waiting to see what they do. Keep your finger off the trigger unless you HAVE to fire, and you may just find a loved one at the other end of your barrel begging you not to shoot. Once you pull the trigger it can't be undone and that lead is going to destroy something, don't let it be your life. Just my . BTW have a sling full of 25 more shells in a grab and go format (in case of zombies ).
