  1. Actually, in the late 30’s-early 40’s, I believe, colt numbered the slides, don’t know exactly when they did, but I have seen slides with numbers. Nothing at all wrong with a mismatched frame/slide, we were just figuring out if the slide was the style that was most likely original to the frame, which it appears to be.
  2. Randy1944, With that information, the slide is most likely the correct slide for the frame.
  3. The colt logo moved from the rear to the middle of the slide around Serial Number 285,000, according to book. It isn’t possible to know if slide is correct, without knowing the serial of the frame.
  4. June 1942 receiver I believe.
  5. I agree, I like the junior and the 1908.
  6. Astra came into the picture later I believe, with the colt junior. I think this 1908 predates the astra involvement. Right?
  7. Have you tried looking at popular songs from 1995? The song was probably popular at the time.
  8. I have also heard that ballistol is good to protect leather.
  9. General rule for me is metal > plastic/polymer. No experience with polymer ar-15 lower though.
  10. Never seen a recoil spring above the barrel! Very interesting.
  11. Very nice. Was the mag release switched after those 3 years?
  12. Okay, so the ones that are not engraved are just the ones people ordered and did not pay extra to have them factory engraved. That makes sense.
  13. Apparently there was a “grade” offered that had no engraving on the receiver, if I have researched correctly.
  14. I know that some A5’s were not engraved. I wonder if all magnum A5’s were though. Always wondered why some are and some aren’t.
  15. Interested. Can you send pm? Thanks.
  16. Is this one engraved because it is a magnum?
  17. That’s a nice looking 1911!
  18. Interested, can you send a pm?
  19. What year do you figure this one was made?
  20. Very nice, uncommon rifle.
