  1. No one in this State has the MONEY at the current time to offset the funds being thrown at the legislature to defeat such initiatives by The Chamber of Commerce, Volkswagen, Fed Ex, all the Big Business bastions.  If we could get the 1.6 million hunters in the State to pony up $20.00 each to the TFA PAC we would be a force to be reckoned with.  Money talks and BS walks, cash is the mother's milk of politics. Legislators tell me privatley that they know 39-17-1307 is unconstitutional, but their bosses, who collect and dole out the money, don't give a rat's hinney.
  2. They never get tired, they retrench, get more money and come roaring back.  Only those in favor of expanding opportunities to keep and bear arms sit on their hands.
  3. http://world.time.com/2014/03/01/deadly-terror-attack-in-southwestern-china-blamed-on-separatist-muslim-uighurs/   Appears to be terrorist in nature and the perps Muslim separatist.
  4. Never said I was not for it, I have been pushing legislators for it for years.  There are just not any that are going to try and pass it this year, or more truthfully, till Beth Harwell and Ron Ramsey are no longer Leadership, we can forget any substantive legislation coming out of Nashville.   Only chance we have to change that is for me to win the lottery, at which point I can afford to buy my own legislators to pass the Public Chapters that we need here, or beat enough Establishment candidates to get their attention.   I am afraid I am going to die before we can get there, as the lottery is out of the question, but I keep working at it. I tried to tell you what the deal was on this bill this year, it is a sham to try and save Vance Dennis's hinney, it was never meant to get out of a committee, it is fluff to fool the People with, and that is the message that needs to be given with respect to his proposed legislation. We have a candidate to beat him, and Barrett Rich as well. That is how we will eventually get there, by attrition of the Establishment. Beth Harwell has NEVER voted in favor of a firearms issue of consequence, as long as she is Speaker, the hill is high, she controls the caucus PAC.
  5. Now Robert, Dave seems to have a plan.  I have recorded the Governor affirming he will sign the bill, and have in other threads, provided contact information for those who hold the future of the bill in hand.  If they will but show how amenable the Gov. is to this line of thinking, surely there are forces that can convince our Supermajority of conservative, Republican, 2nd Amendment loving legislators to step back from this 144 year old travesty against our Rights.
  6. JayC and I did our part.  We have the heavy lifting done, all we need now is the bill on his desk.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJ6ml6bRJJE&edit=vd
  7. I was very lucky, the smartest person I knew was my Grand Pa, the Old Marine had seen and done a lot of stuff.  My Dad was busy working his hinney off trying to feed, cloth and educate 6 kids, Grand Pa was my bud.  Taught me how to be patient, how to hunt, gather and fish for effect. Today's electronic world is not the same, more is the pity.  I would do anything for his praise, and to escape disappointing him I decided not to do a lot of stupid stuff.
  8. No, I responded to your question, did not trash anyone.  I did not start this thread, but you posed a question, I thought my answer was valid, and don't remember even mentioning the officer in Connecticut.   I can offer proof that I do my best to work with and reach out to our local LE, JPD, the Madison County Sheriff's Department, TWRA and our State Police.  If you want contact names from the individuals I will supply them if you will PM me.  But By God, I also hold them responsible to their oaths.
  9. What did Chairman and Lt.  Gov. Ramsey say when you talked to him about getting that bill out from behind the calendar and into committee?   How about Sen. Campfield, is he saying what date he intends to put it on notice?
  10. At that point, he and any Sheriff that did not agree to enforce the unconstitutional law were subject to fines and arrest.
  11. Past about 12 years old, the only people your kids are going to pay attention to is their friends (now with Common Core they are attempting government takeover of that span), better get your priorities instilled in them early.
  12. 1. America is capitalist and greedy – yet half of the population is subsidized. 2. Half of the population is subsidized – yet they think they are victims. 3. They think they are victims – yet their representatives run the government. 4. Their representatives run the government – yet the poor keep getting poorer. 5. The poor keep getting poorer – yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about. 6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about – yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
  13. Could do like Sheriff Richard Mack in 1997 and refuse to enforce unconstitutional laws (Brady Bill), sue the Federal government if necessary, honor their oath to protect the Citizens of their State/County/City and interpose themselves between a rogue government and the people they have sworn to protect.
  14. Sheriff Richard Mack is the epitome of putting your principals ahead of person. We need far more like him.
  15. A failing we all seem to share from State to State...
  16. I agree that we need connection between the People and the politicians, but if you hold your breath waiting for 'them" to contact you (with the exception of when they want campaign donations) all you will get is blue.  As per the first two Articles of our State Constitution:   It is our (the People's) responsibility to make sure our employees know our interest and feelings about the business before them:
  17. Your entire post here is insightful and "spot on".   If every Representative district in the State of TN had three very active, pro gun individuals who spent time keeping up with the legislature, were on a first name basis with their Reps., and communicated at least weekly with them, we could evidence a real change in the way things are done in Nashville. The mantra that we (average citizen) do not understand how legislation is "done" is so much horse supplied fertilizer.  Their standard story that "legislation is like making sausage, everybody likes the result, but nobody wants to see the process" is condescending at best and self serving as their hope is that NO ONE pays any attention as they go about the machinations of serving the moneyed interest that feed them. Politicians love power, it is the commodity they sell.  It is our job to shine light on that process and to understand the facts as they try their best to obfuscate the meaning of their actions and the vehicles used to pander to their masters, intentionally making it hard for the average individual to keep up.
  18. Correct, as of this time, SB1701 will pass as well, both being sponsored by Senator Mark Green, who is carrying them for the Administration (or Ramsey depending on one's view). It will somewhat re-define the vehicle portion (although poorly), as now it requires a person to own the vehicle he stores a weapon in to be legal.  It really will make no difference either. Beavers amendment cured the problem, but, they said it fell outside the caption.  Green intimates they will revisit next down, as we can not expect a first each time we snap the ball...
  19. The amendment was not passed, only the original bill.   http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/108/Bill/SB1700.pdf
  20. The amendment referenced was NOT passed.  The bill by Green did not substantially change the bill as passed last year either, one may still be terminated for the act of having a legal firearm in their vehicle on company property if there is a stated policy against keeping a firearm in a vehicle, permit or not.
  21. Because she did not play ball with Ramsey, so anything she proposes is administratively kicked to the curb.
  22. Anything by Beavers will NOT be codified into a public chapter.
  23. Pay your $85.00, get the background check and do the fingerprints.  Read the fine print, no guarantee you get the "Pre check" every time.   Plus there are lots of airports that do not have "pre-check" lines, some do not have scanners, so my new titanium knee means I get my cods fondled.   I love it when I check into a small TX airport that has a staff where half of the TSA agents wear those head scarfs and I am checking my EDC and back-up piece.
