  1. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/10/24/tennessee-naval-base-on-lockdown-after-shooting-on-base/?intcmp=latestnews     Seems he was relieved of duty and went and got a weapon out of his car, injuries to the two National Guardsmen appear to be non-life threatening.
  2. And this matters why?  According to TN law, if you aren't partaking, the fact that alcohol is sold or served is immaterial, is it not?
  3. No, TSA will not use a "Body Wand", they have to fondle anyone who sets off a metal detector.  I have a card that shows I have had a total knee replacement, the scar to match, and TSA does the full rub down at any small airport that does not have a see-through scanner.  they say that the "Body Wands" are not reliable, and they do not use them any more...
  4. You got a scoop on that, would be some really interesting news if so.
  5. Think your are confusing the Sheriff with the ex Police Chief, Rick Staples, he quit Jackson to go into private contracting over there.
  6. This on the heels of an announcement from the camp of John Myer (ex Special Agent in Charge of the TBI for West TN) that he was throwing his hat in the ring for Sheriff of Madison County first of this week...   From the article:     http://www.wbbjtv.com/news/local/Police-Investigating-Incident-Involving-Sheriff-227382891.html
  7. If anybody has had communication with, or been appraised of who our State NRA advocate is, please advise the group.  Since Darren LaSorte took over for Heidi Keesling, and then went back to his original duties, I have had no communication from the NRA.  New person is supposed to be a Trevor Santos, but I never heard from him in 2013.
  8. Here is what our Governor thinks, (confusion reigns as normal when it comes to a firearms issue, he is clueless)...   http://www.wkrn.com/story/23585448/haslam-government-shutdown-could-impact-handgun-permits   From the Gov.'s office:     From the DOS:
  9. Not sure we should be surprised...   From the article:     http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/govbeat/wp/2013/09/18/fbi-chicago-passes-new-york-as-murder-capital-of-u-s/?fb_action_ids=10201157343108500&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=other_multiline&action_object_map={%2210201157343108500%22%3A203532226484790}&action_type_map={%2210201157343108500%22%3A%22og.likes%22}&action_ref_map=[]
  10. I'd like to have some of that to put around my roses...
  11. To quote Margret Thatcher: "The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money."   There is no hand on the throttle and no eye upon the rail of this runaway train.
  12. How bad does a law have to be for Jerry Brown to be the voice of reason to stop stupid?   http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/10/08/calif-gov-vetoes-bill-allowing-non-citizens-to-serve-on-juries/?intcmp=latestnews
  13. I have to imagine that Alexander is one of the most despised politicians in the State at the moment.  Only time he votes against Obama is when it makes no difference if he does, every other time he is right there with his tongue where it will do him the most good, so it really makes no difference if Tuke wins or not, the results of Tennessee's Senator's votes will be the same. If Alexander gets beat on any level, then the Establicans might decide to court the Conservatives once again.
  14. Well there you go, assault car used.
  15. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/10/03/us-capitol-in-lockdown-reports-shots-fired/     How badly can the truth get skewed on this situation I wonder?   Would like to see the number of shots fired in DC on any given day as a check against this episode.
  16. Sheriff Joe is watching the wrong border, the one to the West needs to be 18' tall, nobody out, nobody in...
  17.   Was former Governor Winfield Dunn, sent to me 11/08/2010 10:43:55 PM. I have the text saved, as from time to time I need to remind myself just how servile I am supposed to be.
  18. Tennessee Republicans are learning well from the Federal teachers. Exactly the same perception they have of us as voters regarding issues here in this State.  No need to let the House debate and vote on an issue, if the "Leadership" has made its mind up the die is cast...   Received from one of the top ranking Republicans in the State on my attempt to keep Beth Harwell from the Speaker's position: "Honestly, our elected representatives do not need your help in making important decisions about leadership."   That is the elitist stance, we (the great unwashed) are to work, pay our taxes and STFU, be good little plebeians and let those who are by their birth better suited to rule make the important decisions.
  19. Worth 50 cents according to what year? I paid $.35 for gasoline a gallon in my high school days, the dollars I saved then are worth what now?
  20. We had one in TN, Eddie Bass, and, he wanted to change over to the Republican Party, but McCormick would not allow it.
  21.   They have an answer for that already, ACT and SAT will be CC compliant, home schooled students will be at a severe disadvantage and unable to score high enough to attend college or university.  If they can not quote the Global Warming Mantra ala Al Gore, or butcher the Second Amendment they will not have the "right" answers.   There is a drive to provide every student with a laptop or i pad, books are going the way of the dinosaur, parents will no longer be able to look at the curriculum, unless they do every lesson at night after the students get home, (if they allow it to be replicated) it is all going to electronic based provision to lesson the chance that parents get to "look" at the data supplied.
  22. I expect every person I am around to be armed.
  23. Our October meeting will be held Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Brooks Shaw's Old Country Store located in the Casey Jones Village. We will gather for a meal and fellowship for those who wish at 5:30, and we will have our normal local and legislative round-up at 6:45 P.M. Our speaker this month will be Rep. Joe Carr, candidate in the US Senatorial Republican Primary. Rep. Carr will address the group at 7:00 P.M., and as usual, we will have a Q/A session to follow. Membership is not required to attend, all are welcome.
  24. Driving around Texas a bunch this week, numerous billboards with "now hiring" on them.  Lots.
