  1. I have had several good experiences such as you describe, and I have never a bad experience. I think it really helps letting them know first thing. Some people say you should not tell them just because you are not legally obligated, but I think this would elicit more problem than being up front about it. I am sure someone will contradict.
  2. I do not know if this is of your concern, but I believe there is a typo in the second paragraph on the REC7 page. It is not a big deal.
  3. I always fly with a gun checked as long as where I am going honors my permit. It has only been a hassle once. However, be prepared for employees who do not know the correct process for checking guns. I have encountered about four or five different processes at various times, but they all worked out in the end.
  4. As far as the finger printing thing, I do not recall. Carry where drinks are sold, but not consumed.
  5. What is up with the life savers in with the holster?

    pf9 trigger

These guns were never intended to shoot that much. I had a P11 that broke. I am not sure what the rd count was, but I know it was not more than 400 rds. They are intended to carry around in your pocket and be there when you need it, but they are not intended to be carried to the range and shot for fun.
  7. Short answer is that it is nearly impossible to match something that has already been stained before. You might can get it close, but it will not be exactly right. I worked in a cabinet shop off and on for about 9 years, and the only way I know of to get good results from this is good old fashion elbow grease. You need some sand paper and time. I would start will about a 120 grit, sand with the grain when possible, and take your time. Woodworking is one thing that I believe the best results are an indication of time spent on it. After you have gotten mostly fresh wood with 120, procede to 180 grit. This grit may be the final grit, but if you can still see sanding marks or scratches, you will have to go a 220 grit. Most people like to finish the process with steel wool. Generally a OOOO rating. Remember to use a block on flat surfaces and a rod on concave surfaces if you can find something to match the profile of the wood. This will keep the grain level. The end grain of the wood will be the most problematic, but like I said, it is almost impossible to get it perfect. Different woods will produce better results than others. If it is oak, you can pretty well count on not getting all the old stain off. I hope this helps, and just be patient. If you do a crappy job, you will always regret it, but if you do a good job, you will have a thing of beauty that you will enjoy.
  8. Sounds like you have a good wife. Nothing says I love you honey like a deadly weapon. I do not have a 1911, but I did look at the Taurus at one time. At the time, it seemed like the best bang for the buck. That has been a year or two, so I am not sure what the other players are now. If the price is still good, I would say you would not be going wrong with it. As for consolidating calibers, I think the more you have to choose from, the better off you are. With the ammo market as it is these days, I think it is best to keep your options open for whatever ammo you might be able to get at any given time. Short answer of it is, keep the 40 too in my opinion. I do understand you could stock up on one type of ammo, but if you cannot get it, it does not matter how much you try to stock up. Just get an abundance for each caliber you own.
  9. Thank you m14man. People do not understand or conveniently forget that the klan NBF started is not klan as it is today. Either way, more wasted money and belly aching because someone's granddaddy's granddaddy's daddy suffered injustice.
  10. I have a Taurus 856 that I like pretty well for a small frame revolver. It is a compact, like the 85 or S&W J frame, but it is a 6 shot rather than 5. They are pretty affordable if you shop around a bit. I bought a stainless new for $415 otd. It points pretty well, and with a bumbed arm, you will not have to worry about clearing a jam from an automatic.
  11. What a bunch of . I guess it is okay to remember history as long as it is only for the minority or after the Civil War. I cannot believe there was only one person protesting this. I am not racist or have anything against whoever the new guy is, but I think it is rediculous to remove Forrest to put the new one up. All this PC junk is really going to have to end some where.
  12. Just had to say it. I was looking at some TPS reports, and just could not help myself.
  13. Seems like there must be some problem with the database
  14. I carry a p345, and I will be looking at one of these for sure. I will be interested to see what a true price will be on one.

    Which .22LR

Just get a 10/22 and use the money you save to make it what you want. Either way, no matter what you buy, it is just going to be another gun that the dude down the street has. Until you get something and spend a little money on it to make it yours, all you have is just another gun. You can not go wrong with 10/22 and everybody and their brother make stuff for them. I understand what you are saying about having something different, and the only way to really get something different is if you make it different.
  16. If I am taking a trip, I always carry a rifle with extra ammo. As stated above, I do believe my trip would be cut short if I had to use all the ammo I normally carry, but I guess some people get in shoot-outs more often than I do. They might stock a little extra.
  17. Nice deer. Was he gut shot?
  18. The tax payer may not be paying for the autopsy. From what I understand, in any death, the family has the option of an autopsy at the family's expense.
  19. That is sad. I hope everyone who does not carry with one in the chamber will see this.
  20. My mother always told me that if I had to ask the price, I could not afford it. In this case, she is very much correct.
  21. Rick's Place near Westtown mall. It is a bar, but they seem pretty reasonable. If you stop in and talk to them, you could probably work something out.
  22. Anything number 4 and larger will work. I keep buckshot in mine, but I do not know what number it is.
  23. I have painted a couple of guns with rattle cans. The biggest issue is the oil on the metal. I sprayed mine with brake part cleaner before priming. This seems to do a good job removing all the oil.
  24. I was going to guess butter churn as well.
