Nice pictures! Mike, you hankering for a cannon, too? You know you need one. Matthew, I've just about got Jennifer sold on a pocket Colt. Is this bad? That S&W is beautiful - I didn't want to shoot it 'cause I knew I'd get jealous.

I'm using the wads and skipping the crisco. Between the ball 'shave to fit' and the lubed wad behind it, I'm not worried about chainfires caused from that end of the cylinder. -
They are a bundle of fun to watch. We have a litter playing in the clearing below the house nearly every year.

Hey, hey, HEY! Sorry, Boom, but if Tower ever parts with it, it has to come back home (it was mine for 15 years). It is a sweet shooter, isn't it? So, Mike, you going to pick up an 1849 or an 1862 police? I really enjoyed hosting the shoot this month, folks.

Mike, I should've done better but I was pressed for time. Actually didn't clean until this morning - 7:30 to 10:30 for 7 pistols and a cannon. I just gave them a quick scrubdown with jags, patches, boresnakes, Hoppes BP solvent, and then lubed with Eezox. I need to do a more thorough job, and hope to be home next weekend, so maybe I'll have the time. Thanks a bunch for cleaning up the mess in the shop, by the way! Sorry I didn't have more time to chat, was pretty busy at that point. Just now back at the hotel and calling it a night. -
Hi All, First, thanks to all for coming. Best showing we've had yet! Congrats to Mr. Clean for winning both the grab bag (a range bag) and the cannon contest. In a sudden death showdown, he won out against James and won a late '60s' Coleman F series double mantle lantern. I must say it was a very close contest, and Mike was a contender to the end... We had lunch delivered by two very nice ladies - thank you! We had a civil war skirmish line, with 7 cap 'n ball revolvers on the line. Luckily our side sustained no casualties and were able to evade and escape through the cover of smoke. The cannon, although small, was a crowd-pleaser. Mike was kind enough to demonstrate reloading on a budget afterward. A great time was had by all. Others got great pictures and will no doubt post later, I just wanted to get my 2 cents in.

Election of 1860, Boys...

Sure wish he'd log me out and log in as himself. Beginning to feel like a schizo. Gee, Tower, you musta missed the memo. It was in the paper last week
-
I will add to that, Ron. Many of the politicians are also in it with big business to make all the money they can make.

heeeyyyy! just how many folks knew I was getting a pistol before *I* did????
-
oh, it's a GREAT pistol!!! it has scrimshaw work of sailing ships on the cylinder. JC, I took a dremel and some mother's polish to the yellowboy...then used murphy's oil soap on the rest of the furniture...the yellowboy is purty now...so much so that Julie said "I want to share".... *sigh* I WILL be at the shoot, but I will have to leave around 2, to get up to Corbin. Since my extended family is short on menfolk, I'm going to be a pallbearer. On a good note, I got about 500 bucks back from last years' taxes from the various states I've worked in. The sad part is that My wife's aunt didn't have insurance...so we're giving it to her to help pay for the burial. ah well, at least I can shoot on saturday.

Okay, how about this one - 200 yd lane at Pungo rifle range. I heard afterward that (unofficially) one of the teams had used the range the week before, and they liked to play around with flashbangs, etc. behind the targets (officially) the staff had just dumped the range sweepings behind the targets. Anyway, me and another guy were trying to track down a jumping point of impact on an M1A. I fired, and the far end of the range blew up. Must'a been a 20 foot fireball. I looked at the rifle, then looked down into my ammo can, thinking 'what the heck am I shooting, here?'.

Bwahahahaha.... he couldn't wait, strickj. He was out on the porch making smoke last night.

It is a tough question, which to go for (first, I mean... hehehehe) No, seriously, I'll go with one. The swivel guns are nice, but I've got a yen for the 1841. His prices are reasonable, work is first rate... The big question, really, is do I try building wagon wheels, or do I take the cowards way out and build a naval carriage.
-
Well, Mike, if you want higher ground, try the hill to the left as you are looking at the house. It is a hundred, hundred fifty feet higher easy (than the house, not the range), and at the top I cleared a place for a cabin tent, there is a place for a fire, and if it hasn't rotted away by now there is still a hammock up there. Sue can point the way... It's a short hike, you can't drive to it. That 1860 sure is pretty...

Those are neat, but I'm going to end up going with this guy. Just have to wait until he'll have one to ship at the same time I will be home. http://www.users.qwest.net/~cannonmike/

This is Towerclimber...I forgot to log Mark@sea out...so I'm posting under his handle My newest acquisitions!!! I came home for my time off and behold, Mark@sea (my brother) picked up the pistol about a month ago without me knowing. A wonderful gift for me! Here are 2 of my newest acquisitions! the pistol, an 1851 navy colt in .36 cal. it came with a locking case, a powder flask, bullet mold for both mine' balls and round balls and 100 percussion caps. The Rifle is the Uberti replica of the 1866 yellowboy rifle in .45 Long Colt.

Traditional Muzzleloaders
Mark@Sea replied to dispatch 510's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I have one, but haven't shot it in awhile. It's all shined up over the mantle, the wife gets antsy when I start talking about shooting it... -
notgonnasayitnotgonnasayitnotgonnasayit.... I agree, if you have to part with it, try gunbroker.
-
It will be a hoot Saturday, I think.. Tower got off work and came up to the house today. He may be attending a funeral (wifes' family) Saturday, I told Sue to go ahead and give him the pistol. Think he likes it...
-
Mike, would you mind bringing up one of your pocket reloaders? I'd like to demo to Clean (his name is too long, think I'll just call him Mr Clean). You have one in 45? If you (or anyone else) want to camp either Friday night or Saturday night you're more than welcome.
-
Talk to me, Tungsten. Hey, you've got that very nice S&W now (sure, sure, it's the wifes', riiight...). OP, I wouldn't go with hollow points - the big downside of the .380 is lack of penetration. Go with as much bullet weight as you can.
-
Nice BUG. Price reflects that you're buying a pistol, instead of a name. .380 is nothing to write home about, but beats the heck out of nothing. Never heard of any problems with it.
-
I have one of those manuals, actually.

Man, sorry to hear that. Can't let anything get in the way of the developers and the politicians they're bribing making a fast buck building shoddy housing. There's only what, an 8 month supply of housing on the market right now? Well, going up the mast this morning, so I gotta wrap up and get my harness and crap on.
