  1. Wow guys, I don't know what you're getting at, but you definitely just quoted something that someone else said and attributed it to me. That quote was from unreconstructed, not me.
  2. I agree with you conclusion, but this is an example of a no win situation. If she had pulled a gun in response to the knife the headline would read "student pulls gun over parking space dispute." Gun or no, the safest move in this case would be to just let it go and park somewhere else.
  3. Kudos for actually including a link. I'll admit, I clicked on it just to see how committed you were to the joke.
  4. I'm not a christian, but this bothers the hell out of me. If a Muslim wasn't allowed to leave class to say prayers in the hallway there would be a supreme court case with the ACLU making all kinds of noise all the way. Christians can't even pray before football games.
  5. The army will pay up front, but when I tried to enlist they told me I was disqualified since I used adderall (it show's up as meth on the drug test). They said I could try again after being off of it for a year so I'll be talking to a recruiter again in the next six months or so to see what they can do about paying for law school. As far as combat, I don't really want to kill anyone if I can help it. I know it has to be done, and I respect the hell out of you guys that do what needs to be done in that respect. When I initially tried to enlist I was going to do para-rescue with the air-force, but as mentioned above, that didn't work out.
  6. I'd go with the fs2000 since it can be converted to fire airfoil rounds, sticky shockers, and sticky cameras. /nerd
  7. It's going to be a while, I've still got 4 years left in college. There are patriotic motives, but my decision was also affected by selfish interests. JAGs get some of the best experience available right out of law school, and Uncle Sam can help with those loans that are going to start piling up. Plus, maybe if I get to know the right guy they'll let me shoot the fifty. I've always wanted to fire a warning shot across the bow.
  8. I'll concede the Desert Storm point. I was in kindergarden at the time, but I do have very strong memories of everyone being rah-rah pro-war, but it makes sense that I wouldn't catch the stuff you guys described at that age.
  9. FWIW, I plan on enlisting in the military after I graduate law school, but I don't plan on suspending all of my opinions on war until then. I don't recall anyone complaining about the media coverage of Desert Storm, or the initial campaign in Afghanistan when it had public support. So should we even tell the general population that we're at war if we're not going to tell them anything about it? Should Iraq be a non-issue in the election? Should Vietnam have been in '72 and '68?
  10. I think we should call it "place where conservative gun owners argue with liberal gun owners about topics ranging from open carry to ccw badges to guard hippos"
  11. I don't buy into much of anything, it's my nature. Another comment on the wasps nest I stirred up, I don't trust the media's coverage of the war, I just take serious issue with anyone that says "the public doesn't need to know about . . . keep the media out of it." Corruption and abuse of power is everywhere, the US military is no exception.
  12. By the way, I wasn't trying to imply that most soldiers didn't serve honorably in Vietnam, I have several relatives who did, with quite a few purple hearts among them. I'm also not defending Geraldo revealing troop movements on live TV. That doesn't make me think that the American public has no need to know what's going on during a time of war.
  13. Nice logical arguments guys, I wasn't aware that you had to serve in the military to hold an opinion in this country. Sounds kinda fascist to me. I don't buy into this blind faith in anybody with a uniform and if you don't like it, well then you can just not like it, no skin off my nose.
  14. I don't think having served in the military gives any special weight to your opinion. The public pays for the war and elects politicians based on their opinions of war. The war in Iraq is going to be one of the biggest issues in November, the public has a right to know what's going on. Also, think about all the truly terrible things that our troops did in Vietnam. A measure of accountability isn't a bad thing.
  15. I wonder what else the public has no need to know? That opinion explains a lot.
  16. It's not really that stupid, it's a common mistake.
  17. You won't be getting any more of my business until you get rid of the no break dancing policy. J/K, looks good to me
  18. Next thing you know he'll have to pitch in a gauntlet.
  19. She sounds like it. She called the police because the other team forfeited. What was she expecting them to do about it?
  20. Someone suggested that. I guess the parents didn't like that idea.
  21. I see you're in Memphis, which raises the question, do you even need your turn signals? It's not like anyone pays them any mind anyways.
  22. Don't hold back, tell us what you really think.
  23. I choose the gun to carry around the dress. Since it's been summer I've been carrying my 642 much more often, and when cool weather comes around I'll transition back to the 1911.
  24. I wonder if they make a robot that will do that for you.
