  1. My Wilson Combat 47d 8rd magazine sticks out of the grip on my SA Mil-spec 5".

    4th Gen Glock 19

If I were in the market for a new carry gun I'd let someone else beta test the Gen 4 G19 and buy a Gen 3 G19.
  3. You're right about that. The Service Grade Special I picked up in November sure is nice though.
  4. CMP just got several million rounds in from Greece. I don't think I've ever heard an exact number, but they expect it to meet their demands for several years. Federal and Hornady both sell Garand safe ammo but it's about $1 a round. I've been saving my spent casings to reload when I get set up for that.
  5. No problem. I don't think NRA membership counts. You can sign up for GCA at the link I posted or in store. Drive to the South store in Anniston, AL like I did. It's worth the trip to be able to pick out that special one that pops out at you. Muzzle erosion on the one I picked out was 0.5, almost a brand new barrel. Gratuitous Garand porn:
  6. The Garand Collectors' Assn. will satisfy your membership requirements. Your HCP satisfies your shooting portion of the requirements. You'll just have to show a birth certificate in addition to that and you're good to go.
  7. So they say... How to remove the ILS, with pics, part-numbers & descriptions. - 1911Forum I told Springfield that my Mil-spec wasn't accurate at all (it wasn't, pretty sure it wasn't just me) and they had me send it in. They replaced the barrel, barrel bushing, and did some work on the trigger. The Mil-spec is now dead nuts accurate and has a great trigger on it. I was planning on selling the Mil-spec when I bought this new one but I think I'll keep both! The black stainless looks even better in person than in the pictures, I fell in love at first sight.
  8. Don't hate fatboy! I took her out to the range today, 150rds later I'm pretty impressed. I'm thinking about changing out the Springfield integrated locking system to a standard mainspring housing. Supposedly that will lighten the trigger quite a bit.
  9. They are in Greenbrier, north of Nashville off I65 exit 98. Address is on their website. Metalhead runs their TGO forum, you might PM him with any questions. From their website, Guns and Leather :
  10. There are a few good ones in this area, Hero Gear is a little far away from me but they're good folks. Guns & Leather always treats me right so they get my business. I'd rather have the fixed sights myself, but the black stainless got me hooked. The adjustable ones seem to be sturdy enough.
  11. You're right, I started with a fairly plain 1911 A1 Mil Spec from Springfield, went to Guns & Leather today and this followed me home...
  12. Thanks! They had another brand new one sitting right next to it, better get on over there.
  13. Not sure what happened, saw a good deal on a used Springfield 1911 Black Stainless Target and had to have it. Those guys at Guns & Leather sure know how to dig into my wallet. Range report to follow, soon I hope.
  14. I use these: Revision Eyewear Sawfly Basic Clear Sun Glasses Kit . Love em, they don't fog up at all.
  15. The Pre-1899 Antique Guns FAQ
  16. For that price I'd just get a Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 (well, I already got one). Mine runs just fine and is plenty accurate. I bought one with a factory threaded barrel.

    Cheap ACR

Lose $1000 or 1 negative feedback, I know what I'd do.

    Cheap ACR

It was listed 8 minutes ago, I'm sure he'll be along to fix it.
  19. Damn, weapon accessories are almost as bad as computers. I got a Strikefire 3 or 4 months ago and now this!
  20. I like my Vortex Strikefire.
  21. Brick? Hell, my 5" 1911 is much easier to hide than my Glock 23.
  22. +1 for TrueCrypt. Create a TrueCrypt volume, mount it to a drive letter, drop the files you want in that volume.
  23. Welcome from another Bellevue resident. I usually just take the back roads and drive to the Montgomery County range in Southside. It's more or less the same amount of driving time as Stones River but I like the range a lot more.

    I did it...

Nice looking weapon for sure. I hope he didn't get the 9mm one though!
  25. I use a Kramer Leather horsehide IWB.
