1. what comp is that on the middle one?
2. I havent bow hunted in years. Its enjoyable but I just couldnt really get into it enough to battle the still hot weather, ticks, and chiggers. My fun starts at muzzleloader season.
3. I sent a form 1 off in december as well. Maybe I'll be getting mine back soon.   ETA: So curiosity got the better of me and I called to check on the status of my form 1. Apparently it has an error on it, but she couldnt tell me what the error was. She said it might be data entry problem and not my fault. She said she would have somebody call me Monday to assist. Hopefully I'll actually get a call and wont have to call them. We will see Monday I guess.
4. classic firearms has saiga 7.62's in stock. $600 gets you one. Double what I paid for mine a couple years ago. I was surprised to see they were in stock honestly.
5. yeah....about that. Out of all honesty I was pretty disappointed in them. I was expecting that though seeing as how I've never done ribs before. I dont know what I did wrong really. Maybe it was the ribs fault lol   marinaded them for a couple hours, took them out and wrapped them in foil. Put them in the oven at 225 and after about 3 hours they still werent done. All they did was shrink up into about a 2 or 3 inch thick steak pretty much. They didnt get "fall off the bone tender" at all. They were in the oven for about 4 hours total. I have another rack so I have another chance to get it right. I just need to figure out what went wrong.
6. I use Mark Scott as well. He is a good guy. Ive done around 7 or 8 transfers with him. It is $35.
7. Ok got them soaking in the marinade! I have to brag on the people that cut up our cow, these are good looking ribs! I have a couple questions though. I removed the membrane on the bone side of the ribs, but what about the skin on the meat side? I just left it. Also check out how thick the one section is, it has a whole extra layer of meat on the ribs it looks like. Supposed to be like that right? Will ~3 hours be long enough if they are that thick? Sorry for the probably dumb questions but like i said im clueless ribs!
8. Ready for tomorrow. My plan thus far goes like this. • marinade in Moores for a couple hours • take out of marinade, rub dry rub (jar in pic) on • wrap in foil and put in oven at 225* for ~3 hours • when they get good and tender take em out and mop the bbq sauce all over them then put them under broiler for a few mns Hope they turn out good!
9. Is there still no way to upload a picture directly from a file on your pc? I didnt see a way but maybe I'm missing it. We still have to use image hosting like photobucket?   Also, I tried posting an ad in the gear classified section using tapatalk. Went to post and it wouldnt let me because I have to select a topic prefix. I cant find out how to do that using the app.   Thanks
10. Thanks for the link. I see Bi-Lo sells it too so thats good as they are about a minute from my house. I wonder how either Moore's or Allegro would do in the oven with the ribs wrapped up in some foil. Or should I just use it as a regular marinade the day before I cook them.
11. I know Hickok45 has mentioned them in several of his videos. I think they loaned him several guns to do videos with through the years. I had never been in there.
12. you can buy moore's and allegro at walmart or target?
13. Yep they are beef. Seeing as how i dont have a smoker, im stuck to the oven and grill. I think i will try the oven-to-grill method. So 225* for about 2-3 hrs (shorter time for beef) wrapped in aluminum foil with some marinade of some kind? Anybody ever tried Moores marinade?
14. Im a complete rib noob, never cooked any in my life before. That being said, I've got a section of ribs thawing in the fridge for this weekend. They are from the cow we had slaughtered not too long ago. Now i need your guys help with some cooking advice. I want to cook them on the grill (gas) on some aluminum foil. Do i cook them slow? What temp should the grill be at? How long should it take roughly to get them done? Should i turn them over often? When do I turn them? And how do I make them taste great?! Also, anybody have any good rub recipes? Im clueless on ribs!
15.
it is very easy to get from 150 to 99. From 99 to 79 is hard real hard. From 79 to 69 is why there are very few people playing on TV
Amen to that! My best round ever is a 92 so i still have yet to dip into the 80's. Soon though, I hope. And Lumberjacks right, when you get on a nice well kept course out in the middle of nowhere, and there is still dew on the ground, perfect temp, nice scenery etc, its a great feeling. No phones, buildings, cars, car horns, sirens etc. A very nice reprieve.
16.
I hit a golf ball the other day, with a broken shovel handle, went about 200 yrds, baseball style. I use golf balls to get my chickens to lay in the nest box, that is about all the golf I play. Sorry for dumping on the thread, I will go back to my corner now.
And stay there!!!! Lol Anybody watching the john deere classic?
17.
I played Fall Creek Falls in mid-June, and the fairway on 9, (I think that's the one that runs along the road into the course), is absolutely terrible. Cart path only, and you're lucky if your ball stops on any grass.
Yikes. That hole has always been like that to an extent, but not that bad. We went up to play there back in March and they had the course closed and heavy equipment all over the place. Im curious to get back up there and see what they changed.
18. LJ just let me know when your schedule allows it. Hidden valley golf course is just a 10 minute ride from South Pittsburg. Glad to see so many golfers on the board! Peejman i cant hate as my first set of clubs included real wood woods and driver! Whoever said it was right, there are a lot of nice courses in middle TN! Especially in the crossville area. Has anybody played Fall Creek Falls since they reworked the course back in the spring?
19. So who else in the house is a golfer? I've been playing on and off since playing on my school team, but have gotten more into it the last couple of years. I've been fortunate enough to play in some "work tournaments" on some really nice courses. I play in about three tournaments a summer. The nicest of them is at RTJ in Prattville, AL. The foundation that does that tournament does a "premium gift" for all golfers. In 2011 it was Oakley sunglasses, 2012 it was Adidas golf shoes, and last year it was Nike golf jackets. So you can see why I like going there lol. There is a RTJ in Huntsville too, Hampton Cove, but I've never played there. I'd love to do a RTJ trail run one summer. The nicest course I've been on would have to be Empire Lakes in Rancho Cucamonga, CA a few years ago. I've played on Vandy's Legends Course a couple times as well. Some of my favorite local course's around Chattanooga are Moccasin Bend, Montlake, and Hidden Valley.   I prefer Callaway clubs, with the exception of cleveland wedges, and an odyssey putter. I almost pulled the trigger on a Scotty Cameron putter this year, but decided on a new driver instead.    Surely I'm not the only dedicated golfer on the board, so lets talk golf a bit. Whats your favorite courses? Nicest course you've played? Whats in the bag?
20. So true. Love them or hate them, we NEED them.   I may also add a marlin xl7 to the line up of potential next deer rifles. Im in the same boat as the OP pretty much. However I dont really care what a hunting rifle (read "tool") looks like. A bolt action rifle is a bolt action rifle, they all look kinda the same to me minus synthetic or wood stocks, or blued and stainless barrels. I actually prefer a synthetic stock on a hunting rifle, cause I know its going to catch hell over the years. As long as the quality is there with decent accuracy I'm good. Im not trying to shoot a quarter from 100yds, I'm trying to hit a soccer ball sized target from (most of the time) within 50-75 yards.   I didnt even know about the Savage Hog Hunter. May take a look at those as well. So many choices in this category!   ETA: OP you asked if anybody had experience with a mossberg atr. Up until last year thats what my brother hunted with, I held it and looked it over more than once and was actually impressed with it. The action was pretty smooth, and just the overall appearance/quality of it seemed up to par. IIRC his had a fluted barrel and was chambered in .308.
21. another one to check out is a cmt. made right here in the great state of TN. Last time I checked they were also a forum sponsor. I have two of them and they are top notch.
22. the saiga 12 is such a multipurpose tool. Its my favorite in my current inventory. Good times!
