  1. Classic is running the Star BM 9mm surplus pistols for $150. That's really a pretty good price for a nice compact size 9mm. They are 1911 style. I've got one I purchased from AIM several months ago and it's been a great shooter and fun gun. It's a little heavy compared to the polymer frame guns, but still I think a good value. It's pretty accurate and an easy shooter. I've updated a few things on mine and plan to give it a try for CCW. If you order one be sure to grab a couple of spare mags for $20 ea.

I have a October vacation and new ring for the wife as a priority but @Capbyrd lucked up on a set of axles from a Scout II for a great price. So I’ve purchased axles for the Scout now. Can’t wait until I can really start on her in earnest.

    Ring? What ring..

Powdered metal as in powder coated or as in compressed powder sorta like sawdust board, but with metal?

yep, It's called sintered metal. Basically metal powder is poured into a mold then under high pressure it forms the parts.

  4. Worked for a company 20+ years ago that made a similar pistol. They had stopped making them some years before I worked there but there were some odds and ends around. I think they were 7 shot and 22lr. Everything but the barrel and cylinder were made of powdered metal. Looking back in their old records many were sold to hardware stores and pawn shops. Some for as little as $5 wholesale. Often they were shipped 50 or more at a time.

Right you are, but it is a fun little thing. Barrel wobble and all.it would make a good trap line gun. .22 Short would be good enough for that.

I've got one too. And the barrel on mine wobbles. Hard to hit a milk just at 10 ft.

My grandmother gave it to me when I was about 12. My step grandfather gave it to her and she kept it under her pillow.

  6. I like the Keltec stuff and have several of their models. Was at a store a month or so ago and saw one of their RDB-S. I thought the pictures were really goofy, but seeing and holding it in person, wow. I'd really like to have one. Pencil thin barrel, but the rest was amazingly nice. $1200 a bit steep, maybe they will come down. It was so dang little!

  7. I've been using 55 gr. in my AR and getting one shot kills. Also using 35gr in a 222 bolt gun that has stopped them in their tracks. I chased a red fox up the driveway this afternoon. They are pretty animals I hate to shoot them... yotes on the other hand

  8. If you're dealing local and not getting good feedback or response rate, then you're dealing with the wrong local lender. I deal with three different lenders and all of them give 24/7 (nearly) responses. And that's to me as a Realtor, and to my clients.

The online mortgage companies can be a hit or miss. They often give great customer service when you're inquiring, then once they have the loan you move on to a different department/person and response boggs down.

Generally, I try not to deal with the online outfits simply because you can't count on them in what is a time sensitive situation. I've done it, but hold my breath every time.

  9. well, got all my recurring changes on my NRA card changed over this weekend. Called First National to cancel my card this morning. They were REAL busy, had to wait on hold for nearly 30 minutes. Got it cancelled! Told her I didn't want their statements trashing up my mailbox anymore. Feels good. I told her exactly why I was cancelling and she noted I had been with them since 2004. Did not seem to be a surprise to her.

  10. I had a .44 bulldog back in the 80s. One of the guns I no longer have that I wish I still had. It was a handful to shoot and there were no carry permits back then so I sold it off or traded it. Compared to today's lightweight revolvers and autos, it probably wasn't much more ferocious.
