I have found Brown Bear and Monarch (academy branded Brown Bear) to be far more consistent than Wolf. With the Wolf ammo, notably fine for most, I was getting tons of misfires in my Russian SKS. The misfired rounds had sunken primers, one batch was so bad Wolf refunded my money for 500 rounds. I have shot a little over 1000 brown bear since and haven't had a single problem. Another problem I had with Wolf was popped primers. Not a single popped primer with Brown Bear.

Jenny sucks, but the range is great. You have to follow the rules, simple as that. The RSOs have no idea how experienced you or anybody else is. I prefer CHMR(owl hollow), but its not fair to bad mouth a facility because you weren't following the rules and got in trouble. People are generally more experienced at Owl Hollow, lots of true idiots shooting at Stones River so I can tolerate a few extra safety measures. I'm sure Charlie would get mad if you broke his rules in front of him too, although I've never seen it happen.

That 30d will do everything she needs and is an excellent choice, as it has a built in spot meter. It's a very capable professional camera, even though a few years old.

That camera would also be fine, you won't notice the 2 mp difference. However, the 75-300 lens is basically junk unless you are out on a sunny day. It will be hard to get steady shots at those apertures. It's also not wide enough to cover most "normal" focal length needs. It will be the equivalent of approx 110mm on the widest end, which is quite close. Is that the only lens included or is it an additional lens to the 18-55mm? Those kit lenses are very difficult to sell as well when you wish to upgrade. A decent value for an all around lens is the EF 28-135mm with Image Stabilizer. It's not exceptionally great, especially for pro use, but it will work for many users. You may consider buying the camera body only and pick up one of these lenses, it will be a much nicer experience. Should be about $250 on the used market.

This is great advice. If you wanted to save a bit, you could try for a used XTi, which is a generation earlier. Both will take great pics. I'm a fan of buying slightly used gear, usually a generation old. In fact, I just picked up a used Canon 20d for $250 that I use to backup my 5d. I also second the 50mm lens addition. Either the 50 f/1.8 for $100 or the slightly more expensive 50 f/1.4 for $300 are both excellent lenses and will be indispensable for low light. If I only could have one lens, it would be my 50 f/1.4. Many photographers quickly outgrow the kit lens if they are serious about photography. Combine the 50 f/1.8 with the 20d and for $350 you are taking excellent professional quality photographs, provided you know what you are doing. I think Gunpal was created with the idea of actual gun purchases in mind, not as a day to day purchases system such as paypal. They would not have named it Gunpal if they were trying to be a universal alternative to PayPal. I won't do business with someone that won't take PayPal for a holster or something like that, which is allowed by PayPal. If the seller is boycotting, they are boycotting my business as well. It is the currency of the internet right now and Gunpal isn't going to replace it on that kind of level. I don't mind sending a money order or joining Gunpal for a handgun purchase but not for small dollar items or online memberships. Funny thing is I used my PayPal debit card last year to purchase the money order that I sent off for my Sig P6. That card is a handy tool!

Figures that dealers don't even know the laws in their own state. Didn't matter for us since IL isn't a bordering state anyway.

TN allows handgun purchases for residents in TN bordering states. All other out of states residents can purchase long guns only. My out of state father in law asked a few dealers at a recent TN gun show what he could purchase and they all agreed on the above.

The situation sucks, without question, but I would not send that letter. That cop will get what he deserves eventually.

I believe in TN it is illegal to record a face to face conversation without both parties being aware. The 1 person must be notified rule applies to phone conversations. Frankly, I don't see the difference, but that is what I dug up a year or so ago.

Not renewing my membership... The NRA seems more like a mailing list for insurance solicitations than protection of 2A rights. I made the mistake of signing up for a policy and it's been a nightmare. They are making it extremely difficult to cancel and they just over-billed me by 3x and tell me I have to wait 15 days to get a refund. I'm out of work and can't afford this right now. Every day a new insurance solicitation arrives in the mail. I want to keep my gun rights but this is ridiculous.

I prefer the original stock myself, unless it is horrible condition.

Bass Pro is a wasted trip... neat to browse if you're already at opry mills, but take the above advice and go to Guns and Leather or Hero Gear. Bass Pro is high across the board.

Legal or not don't let the neighbors see it. You wouldn't want to get evicted because a neighbor got unreasonably scared. We know from other posts on here that our Attorney General believes apartments can ban gun ownership altogether.

Thanks for the help guys... Tim Calhoun sent me some excellent recipes which I followed for the roast for the most part. I combined some of the best suggestions, however. Ended up injecting with red wine and Worcestershire, basted with butter, and put bacon on the bottom of the pan and covering the top of the roast. We injected it a few times during the cooking as well. We made gravy with the leftovers and used it for the sausage the following morning. Everything turned out much better than we had hoped!

Since TICS is shutdown I can't imagine a successful show.

Fyi... Home depot in hermitage only has 3 grain shovels left and will go quick. Lowes completely out. Called around and no actual snow shovels left in the area.

My fiance purchased one last year and it has run great, much better than expected and probably better than most of the .380s that American Rifleman just reviewed. She didn't want to spend any more money than she did for a gun strictly for fun. Federal AM22 and minimags are the best... it ran Blazers pretty well too.

I agree... sandpaper is just asking for trouble you didn't have to begin with.

I was told by metro police this morning that it was the airport police doing training. We thought it was our distant neighbors this whole time. I'm not exactly sure where the range is located or how I could even get access to buddy up to anyone. No full autos this morning but they were sure emptying mags pretty quick. Behind my backyard fence is the airport property, although I'm a good few miles away from the actual airport. We see people on horseback sometimes behind our fence as well as on 4 wheelers. Our neighbors all say they belong to the airport staff of some sort. When a tree damaged our fence, I had to call the airport (they own the fence) and they came and fixed it for us. It took many phone calls as most of the staff didn't know they even own the property.

It's not loud enough to be disruptive, just makes you want to join the fun!
