  1. if you intend to hunt with it you would need to get the appropriate license for that. IL allows deer hunting with handguns and you should be able to get that license. No one in IL can sell you ammo without that hunting license. For just taking it into the state, it is allowed provided the handgun is unloaded and in the trunk, and you are traveling to or from your intended destination or headed to a range. from http://www.isp.state.il.us/foid/firearmsfaq.cfm:
  2. I wish all of you would buy up the j&g 226s... it's hard for me to see them on that site and not make the jump! Incredible deal!

    Colin

Colin the zombie! Sounds good to me!
  4. I used flashes.
  5. Here is my 54 Tula. Found these that I had taken just after purchasing... It came with the bayonet but I removed it before taking these as I prefer to shoot without it. It was rebuilt, as indicated beneath the star.
  6. just paid $375 for a very nice 1954 Tula matching numbers a few months back. I wasn't sold on an SKS but fell in love with this one at a gun show. It is awesome!!! It probably isn't quite as nice as the one 70below picked up, however.
  7. J&G just put onto their website german police turn in p226 carbon steel models. These were most likely carried often but shot very little, as is the case with many of the p6 models. Three grades - $399 / $419 / $439. One mag. Example VG condition ($419) is a Carbon Steel model from the mid-90s, made in Germany. Sig Sauer
  8. does cheatham have any close range handgun target areas? the other downside to chmr is the busy handgun pit.
  9. I checked mid-summer and they still required the $20 fee even with a membership... that was all I needed to hear. More expensive than anywhere else in mid-TN even with a membership. From what I remember, you can't shoot at all unless you pay the membership fee.
  10. My card was charged within about 5 days of sending the packet... I'm only about 3 weeks into the wait process. Maybe they got your number wrong or something.
  11. Crossbreed makes great gun belts... Gun Belt
  12. The sig sp2022 9mm is one of the best values out there for a great lightweight pistol. 15 round mags and a great trigger. I think cdnn has them for $439. It's a bit larger than the p6, but still compact and lightweight. The trigger is light years beyond the p6.
  13. Even though we may not be required to by law, I think not showing his ID was an invitation for the officers to become angry at the least. It may not be right, and they definitely took their power way too far, but I wouldn't have had any issue showing them my ID. I show it to sometimes 5-10 store clerks per day when using my credit card and every time I go see music... no reason not to show it to the officer and potentially avoid a complicated situation.
  14. Wanted to let everybody know about a new concert/radio show being broadcast live on WSM from the Loveless Cafe Barn. The show features rootsy Americana and Bluegrass artists that the Grand Ole Opry sometimes forgets. The shows are held every Wednesday night... tomorrow is the legendary mandolin picker Sam Bush, one of my all time favorites! I'm the photographer for the show starting tomorrow night, if any of you can make it please do say hello. More info: Music City Roots | back to the roots. welcome to the future.

    1911 Question

I figured 38 super would be in short supply but Ammo to Go has plenty... tons more options than .45 in fact. It's been nearly impossible to find .45 on the shelf at very many walmarts and it isn't very available online either. FMJ Ammo : 38 Super Ammunition To Go FMJ Ammo : .45 ACP Ammunition To Go
  16. Those look great strickj! I love the contrasting colors. I picked up a used set of Trijicon night sights for $15. They have enough glow left to use them until I have the slide refinished probably next year and will definitely work for simple contrast sights. I can't stand the jet black sights that come on the p6.
  17. Anyone have a recommendation for having sights swapped out on a sig p6. It is my carry weapon so I'm looking for a quick turnaround time if I have to take it to a gunsmith. Anyone in the Nashville area have a sig sight tool available for loan?
  18. My girlfriend and I each paid $60 at guns and leather and left feeling like it was worth every penny... we went because of the low price, but recommend it to everybody because of the quality of instruction... even though it is only a very basic safety class. He presented many scenarios and potential situations that we had never thought of. We enjoyed our instructor very much, although he was a bit political at times for no reason. The .22s they let us use to qualify worked perfectly. Well worth $60... not to mention the range is on site and you can grab lunch at Sonic, directly across the street.
  19. That comment alone will prevent me from going there. It's amazing the amount of damage a single employee can do to a business on web forums.
  20. FALSE!!! This is an old recirculated email. snopes.com: Handgun Safety and Registration Act http://web.archive.org/web/20010815030932/http://www.gunregistration.org/email.htm
  21. fist thing is to delete your post because these forums are viewable from non-members and this could be a sure fire way for other co-workers or bosses to know you may have one in the car. Better that no one know but you! That being said, there is a big debate in TN and I think they are trying to make it legal to leave your gun in the car, regardless of company policy, but right now I believe it would not be legal if the employer has a policy prohibiting it.
  22. also... if the feed ramp does need fixed, Todd at Customized Creations is a licensed sig armorer. He does the barrel fix for $45 and has many happy customers on the sigforum. I would not trust this to just anyone, as a new 225 barrel is $159 when it is in stock. http://www.customizedcreationz.com/feedrampmodification.html
  23. good find! I'm in love with my recently aquired 1983 surplus p6, which is the same as the p225. I love the size and they shoot great. I have been 100% with speer gold dot, magtech, and remington hp so far. You will likely have no issues unless you shoot the 147gr hydra shock, which is the most problematic. Many die hard sig fans will list the 225/p6 as one of their favorites. The p6 models may need some springs changed out to match the 225 trigger specs, but are generally priced a bit cheaper.
