IMHO him beating up my car is what I pay insurance for. As far as location etc working on scenario of this in Tennessee which is where I live. First swing that breaks glass near me or any passengers doors in my car (especially wife and kids in car) I am assuming he broke it to enter or hurt me or them. I will be using deadly force to attempt to stop him. But here comes real world question ever try to shoot across your passenger in your passenger seat and shoot a guy through the window and not hurt passenger in car or miss and shoot past them and hit another bystander? Typically my son is in the back seat either diagonal or directly behind me how to shoot attacker and not risk injury to him? Do you exit the car if there is time? Obviosly these aren't scenarios you can typically try shooting around or through during drills on a gun range?? Not saying I wouldn't try to stop him anyway I could. But at same time got think how you would actually pull off that shot? My worst fear is me hurting a friend or family member trying to protect them.

Proof once again sometimes just the presence of firearm can be all that is needed. Nice job..

I am not sure but that was what I told by my company machine company. Break glass? Maybe knock something out of alignment with that much weight. Not exactly a sheet of paper.

Have family member in the insurance business, I ask him about such and he just smiled and said you can get insurance on anything but how deep are your pockets. Then went on to say would probably cost you thousands to get a policy worth anything.

Having thought about this topic and what I might do in alot of the situations outlined here. First and for most myself and family. Yes I carry everyday any place I legally can since I never know what is around the next corner and they are my first concern. Stop the threat if I have to but ideally get them out of the situation. Second part to me is where it gets a little more difficult the assisting of the "sheep" as they were referred to as earlier. The only situation I can see myself stepping up is what I have heard called an "active shooter" situation. So I am clear this what I consider an active shooter is "... an armed person who has used deadly physical force on other persons and continues to do so while having unrestricted access to additional victims." The robber waving the gun to get the cash is not active shooter.. Just my two cents..

I have never opened carried. Typically IWB or pocket carry. I was telling a LEO I know personally, about looking at new .380 pocket gun. He ask why not carry something larger with more stopping power. Told him didn't typically open carry. He ask why not your doing it legally? Can carry something bigger etc etc. I was just surprised a LEO recommending open carry..

Have recently been looking at all the options of insurance policy riders to cover my handguns. Everyone of them wants to know what I have and how much I paid for each of them. However my question is at anywhere from $15 and up per box ammo do most policies cover replacement of my ammo supply? Have not found an answer since most sites just quote you on the policy but you don't actually get to read the policy until issued. Anyone know? __________________

If you don't like your bags being out of your sight and it makes you uncomfortable to think that airline workers are rifling through your stuff, you can take advantage of the TSA's own security rules by—packing a gun. Most of the time, travelers are on the short-end of TSA regulations. In this instance, however, you can use travel rules to your advantage. If you're traveling with equipment you would prefer locked up and watched more closely than your run of the mill luggage, you can pack a firearm with the equipment or luggage. Whether or not you own an actual firearm isn't important—the TSA considers a starter pistol a firearm, and it must be checked in and secured properly. Bruce Shneier, on his security and privacy centered blog, highlights how some creative professional photographers have been using this rule to their advantage. One of the photographers writes: A "weapons" is defined as a rifle, shotgun, pistol, airgun, and STARTER PISTOL. Yes, starter pistols - those little guns that fire blanks at track and swim meets - are considered weapons...and do NOT have to be registered in any state in the United States. I have a starter pistol for all my cases. All I have to do upon check-in is tell the airline ticket agent that I have a weapon to declare...I'm given a little card to sign, the card is put in the case, the case is given to a TSA official who takes my key and locks the case, and gives my key back to me. That's the procedure. The case is extra-tracked...TSA does not want to lose a weapons case. This reduces the chance of the case being lost to virtually zero. It's a great way to travel with camera gear...I've been doing this since Dec 2001 and have had no problems whatsoever. You can pick up a super basic starter pistol for around $16-20—really nice starter pistols can easily cost $100-200, but you're not concerned about the quality—a rather small sum to ensure that your case of photography equipment or personal effects will be watched more carefully and only opened in your presence. My 6 year son and 9 year daughter both started shooting and love it. We have two sets of rules for handling firearms. The first set is what to do if they see a firearm and no one is around. (NRA Eagle Eddie) Stop, Don't Touch, Leave area, and tell an adult. The second set is the NRA Safety Rules when guns are out and I with them. We drilled those for several days. Third we talked about parts of a gun once they could tell me what they were and did. Once they could do the above we went shooting to make it special we played up big and went and got them each their own safety glasses and hearing protection. Daughter of course picked a pink pair of hearing protection. Once there started off by me firing one round through my walther p22 pistol just so they could see and hear what it sounded like. Next took and loaded a single round first time they fired. That way if it scared them and they did something silly and dropped the gun or whatever everyone was safe. I helped them hold it first couple of times and only shot one round first couple of times. After they gained a litte confidence we slowly increased the rounds. By the end of the afternoon they could load mag, and then lock and load the gun and were firing on their own.. Hope that helps.. Main thing is to first be safe and have fun..
