  1. I'm deleting all of my comments on this thread as to not contribute to the strelcevina absurdness. When he's gone, and I mean off TGO... I'll post my constructive comments in the future so that we can all have an educated and positive discussion, as we should be able to do without interruptions from people like him. TGO is a fantastic place and I have met some great people on here. This type of behavior is not what I'm interested in participating in and not why I contribute my opinons to this forum.
  2. I was hoping that thing would be chambered in 5.7x28....but .22mag isn't far off. Looks like a lot of fun!

  5. I stopped at a gun shop in GA off I-85 about two months ago. One of the guys said that because GA doesn't have a training course requirement for thier permits, South Carolina doesn't honor the GA HCP. It's just because there is no training course, even though they do have to go through a background check, etc. to get a permit in GA.
  6. This would be a good deal if it was every state, however other state's will not honor the AZ HCP, meaning it's only good within the state. People in GA have this issue as SC won't honor thier permits because they don't have to go through a training course. This is pretty inconvienent for those who travel.
  7. I completely agree. I would only harm an animal if I felt like they threatened my life. If a racoon is chasing me, I'm not going to shoot it....lol I am a nature concious person, I do not wish any harm to an animal, however if it's me or them I'm choosing me.

  9. About the only time I carry open is actually in State Parks...lol If I'm on a hiking trail with a 50lb pack and run across a wild animal or person who wishes to do me harm the last place I want my gun is in the pack or stuffed down my shorts somewhere. I want it right on my hip. Perfect example and why I choose to do this....On this day it was about 28 degrees and snowing....I thought no one would be out there and I didn't need to keep my gun on me so I put it in the top of my pack. This was not in the Smoky's and not an area of high Bear activity. I was hiking back in February with a friend and my lab. We came into a parking area during our hike on the second day and a couple was parked there in the parking lot. They had a pitbull with them running loose. We were a good 75 yards away from them and I stopped as soon as I saw them. Not more than a second or two later the pitbull saw us it came at us in a very aggressive manner.....tail tucked....head down...you could tell he wasn't coming to make friends. I yelled at the guy to call his dog off but it did no good. As soon as he got a couple feet away the pitbull started growling and immediately attacked my lab. The lab was on a leash with a saddlle pack on full of food and stood a disadvantage for these reasons and she's 12 years old. I repeatedly kicked the pitbull in the head and it didn't seem to discourage it. I was about to drop my pack and pull out my pistol as I really didn't give a crap whether this dog lived or died if it was going to possibly kill my 12 year old lab who I've had since she was 8 weeks old. The owner finally got the dog away as I was seconds from reaching in my pack and grabbing my .45. I felt I would be completely justified as the dog was not on a leash as required by the park rules and was an aggressive breed capable and obviously willing to attack my dog or myself. I gave the guy an earful about it.....a very strong earful. My lab had blood all over her face and I thought I was going to have to take her to the vet a.s.a.p...all while my car was about 4 miles away and the nearest vet about an hour's drive. However after wiping her face off with a towel the only blood on my dog came from the pitbull. She didn't have a scratch on her. Yeah, my 12 year old lab wooped the pit...all while on a leash with 10lbs on her back and in the middle of a 6 mile hike. She was luckilly just fine and we finished the trip and went home the next day. She was a little sore and walked with a limp for a day or two (she has some arthritis anyway), but no injuries. This is why I will never put my gun in my pack again....it will always be on my hip from now on. I am shooting first and asking questions later if the same situation presents itself. I had no way to retreat or avoid the attack, and if that's the case again I'm taking action as soon as I percieve a threat that is justified by such force. If it's a bear or wild animal and I can back off and let it pass then that's what I'll do first. If it's a bear (or any wild or domestic animal) charging me agressively, well I'm not going to challenge it to a game of chess, I'm going to let it eat some lead. About an hour later we passed two hunters carrying rifles who were hunting wild bore. This also made me glad I had my pistol on my hip as if these guys were going to carry rifles around I was dang sure going to carry my pistol openly.

  11. Was this stop conducted by KPD? Just curious. I'd contact a lawyer a.s.a.p. You're unlikely to get legal help, nor would I take it from members, however there is a lawfirm that is a sponsor called Cain Law. You might want to contact them as I believe they specialize in issues like yours.
  12. Yeah, where's the SA surplus...hadn't seen that in a while

  14. I've got one of the shovels. I wouldn't trust it for heavy duty work, but should be fine for light digging. Lightweight and compact is a plus, but you sacrifice durability I guess.
  15. That's what one of the LEO's told me when I got my new pass this year.
  16. I stopped by On-Target in Murfreesboro, TN to try out a new pistol I had gotten in Nashville on the trip. I asked for a lane and bought a couple boxes of ammo. When I got finished I went to pay and the range fee was $20. I asked the guy if he was serious, $20 for 10 minutes? He said I was welcome to shoot all day if I wanted. I told him at those prices I don't have any money left for any more ammo....lol I'll never go back there again. $10-$15 max is all you should have to pay for range time....anything more is really too much. I usually go to Coal Creek on Tuesday's for ladies night. I bring the Ms.' and I shoot for 1/2 price...plus she get's to shoot for free. That's reasonable to me. I'm a Norris Member and it is the best range on this side of town. I quit shooting at John Sevier because I was tired of the harassment from the range guys, tired of not being able to shoot at a pace I desired, and the overall experience felt like I was a criminal with police over my shoulder. Norris is great, but getting more crowded. If people don't keep it clean and respect other shooters more it's going to turn out as bad as other places. People keep shooting the backstop posts, stepping out in front of the line while hot, bringing groups of 10+ people there on a Saturday, etc....it's getting annoying. I wouldn't put it past the Norris PD to shut the thing down anytime they so desired, so I hope people are more careful and curteous before someone gets hurt while doing something stupid. All it's going to take is one idiot getting hurt or hurting someone else and the fun's over for everyone. One of the reasons the rate went up this year is that someone shot tracer rounds and caught the woods on fire behind the 100 yard berm, or so I heard from the LEO's.
  17. I saw Beck's comments on his show the other day about this. He referenced it as a way to control the buying of precious metals like gold. He associated it with the mass gold turn in required by FDR in the 30's. The government is saying "oh, that's not going to happen....we'll....guess what, it already has!. This falls right in line with all the spending and de-valuing of the dollar. The governement will try to make sure people's money is invested in dollars, not other items so when the dollar plumets it leaves the citizen's at thier mercy as they create a new "Plan"....cough..cough..the Amero currency. The government should not have any power to oversee or regulate purchases of any amount, but let alone $600. Beck also mentioned they are now allowed to spy on your credit cards per the Financial Reform bill. This is more control and taxing on the people, which is the reason behind all of this administration's "Change". None of this was needed, they just put a tax proposal in a pretty package and say it's here to fix one of the many "crisis" that somehow keep developing. The people can fix these things on thier own, it's not the government's job, nor did anyone ask them to help. Did anyone else percieve that healthcare was in a crisis state? Did anyone feel that we needed to bail out banks that made bad loans, only to put those responsible in charge of the new Financial Reform comittee, a group of non-elected representatives who are now able to take over any company they "feel" is unstable? This is another un-constitutional move by this tyrannical government. They are going to keep pushing and pushing....I can't wait to help push back.
  18. Just ordered one, can't wait to try it out. The only thing I dislike about my STG556 is the horrible trigger, so this is awesome.
  19. I hope someone does....I want to see pics!
  20. My lab is great too. She's friendly as long as I'm around but will protect if necessary. Best dog I've ever had.
  21. Yeah, I had to run. You were out setting up new targets. I told the other forum member shooting next to you to tell you by for me. I don't know what was up with that group of people, but they were not being very safe and cluttering up the range. If they want to do that stuff they need to come during the week when it's not so busy.
  22. Ha ha, yeah I was there for that one. What was that idiot shooting a bolt gun at the backstop posts for anyway? Trying to chop down the targets? Looks like the entire group there was very inexperienced. They had a girl shooting a large caliber bolt gun from the shoulder while sitting on a bench......with no scope on it...lol What's the point of that? I couldn't even get but 20 rounds through my pistol before I gave up on waiting behind the 10 person group that had taken over the pistol range. I honestly wasn't even comfortable standing there with them because I don't like being too close to people that may not know how to properly handle a firearm. It's a shame that the best kept secret....the Norris range....is no secret anymore.
  23. I bought my little M&P 15-22 rifle from Larry's. I was working on a jobsite in Huntsville a couple months back and was bored one weekend and ran across Larry's. I was very impressed with the pricing. I got it for less than Bud's price and they included a rifle case and a brick of .22 ammo. I also bought some XM193 ammo from Larry's around the same time. I still can't find a better price on it anywhere. Larry's has a great selection too....it's worth the drive for sure. If you want something in particular I might call ahead and see if they have it, but you can at least feel confident that even their asking prices will be very good.
  24. I agree Mike, however is it really necessary that we have to treat every gun deal like negotiating with a used car salesman. It's just annoying. Hope your doing well by the way! I'm going to stop now, I didn't mean to turn this thread into this discussion. Go check out the Outpost Orion6 you'll like the store! Shelly works there and is on the forum quite a bit. I'm sure she can answer questions for you on anything you're interested in.
  25. I do like the Outpost though, I'm not being totally negative. They have given me some good deals in the past, but I much prefer a store to lay out a decent price right out of the gate, rather than me have to price shop around first. I like knowing I can walk into a store and feel that I'm getting a decent deal instead of having to call all the other stores to find out that the price I was quoted by the Outpost was significantly higher. Good example. When I purchased my Ruger SR556 a while back I called them to see what their price was. They told me $1599.00 plus tax I asked if that was the best they could do and the guy said "maybe we can do a little better, but that's a pretty good price." I called a local store near Knoxville and they said we'll get you done for $1500 OTD, that's $1415 plus tax....that's $246 less if you factor tax. Same rifle, 2 hours less of a drive. I didn't even call the Outpost back to see if they would match it b/c the other store gave me a great deal right off the bat. Anyway, I do really like the store, the selection, and the people, however my only complaint is the pricing. They do have the best store in the area though and I won't ever take that away from them! Call it constructive criticism, I am not trying to bash them at all, I just wanted to share my $.02 for what it's worth. I wish we had an Outpost in Knoxville!
