I only go off of experience, and my experience of being around OC'ers in this state is that they have ALWAYS made someone around them uncomfortable. I'm not saying that they make EVERYONE uncomfortable, just a few. That's all it takes. And they most likely won't say anything to you, or make a scene while you're there. They will run home and make a call or a write a blog or letter to the editor. They don't have the nerve to say it to your face, but as far as our cause goes, that matters not. What they won't say to our face is even worse than if they were to confront us. They take away our opportunity to debate by doing that, and the know it. If you don't see how OC'ing in populous areas could be detrimental to our cause, then I could never convince you, no matter what. My dad always told me that, "Little boys that can't learn, have to feel." The problem here is that when enough of the populous decides to get loud enough over the OC issue, it will effect all of us, and not just the ones who can't learn. These people are out there, everywhere, in this state. They want nothing more than to take our gun rights away.

Fella, if you wanna scare people and turn them even more against our right to own and carry guns, then that's your business. If you think that is not what's going on every time you OC, you are ill-informed. Thanks for exercising your rights at the detriment to the rest of us, just because you can.

Why can you not conceal in a suit? Truth is, you can. Also, I IWB carry a PT92 every day, and I'm comfortable. The size of the gun doesn't matter as much as how you dress.

A little off topic, but I nicknamed our cat Chairman Meow (funny for Mao). I was laughing about it with my son a few nights ago and we googled to see if anyone else had the same idea. Of course they had, and here is a t-shirt print to prove it: After my son left the room I googled something else, and found a t-shirt that says, "F*** Che!" and has the Che picture with a circle around it and a line through it. I'm gonna get it if I think about it this week.

I still don't get OC. What, is it 1880 again? Hide that damn thing! It doesn't make you look like a man, or cool, or special. It only makes other folks wonder why you have a gun on your hip. Make no mistake, there are fewer gun owners than there are non-gun owners these days. This is especially true in the major metropolitan areas. I think it's completely silly...

Wal Mart's corporate policy is to allow concealed carry in states where it is permitted by law, but they do not allow open carry in their stores. If you are spotted open carrying, or if another patron sees your gun and complains, a associate is supposed to approach about the concern and request that you conceal the weapon. If you become argumentative, the associate is (and only then) required to ask you to leave. EDIT: I stand corrected. I just went back and re-read their policy. It can be found at several places on the web. Apparently, this lady was well within her rights.

About the same in Bristol. Weatherman was off the mark this time!

In my wallet, with my DL. I have a ID holder that is clear on both sides. The front is my DL, and the back is my HCP. I do take it out every night and polish it, though...

Gold even! He's a high ranking HCP'er!

still have light snow with a dusting in Bristol. I'm beginning to wonder about this 8 - 14 inches they've predicted.

Pfftt...It's winter time in NE TN. When you live up here you stay stocked up, because you never know. We may get just a little snow every year for a decade, and then BAM! 3 feet with 6 foot drifts! The mountain weather is unpredictable. That said, I need to get out to the store some time today. I ran out of Coke the other day, and I only have 2 Mountain Dews and a Red Bull left...

I thought if the HCP badge was worn around the neck, the 5 gallon bucket of pepper spray, with hand pump, was required. Tell me where I'm wrong here...

Leaving a round in the chamber???
rentalguy1 replied to JReedEsq's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Maybe I'm the only one that does this, but I unload, field strip, inspect and clean my carry gun once a week. I know it's way more than necessary, but it puts my mind at ease knowing it's not full of lint or some other garbage, and knowing that it is well-oiled. That also allows you to inspect the chambered round and change it out if necessary (which it has yet to ever be) -
I don't OC, either. I either IWB or OWB with a untucked shirt. I don't care if I print, or if the muzzle shows, but I just don't like the idea of walking around with a gun openly on my hip. I keep my head on a swivel at all times, but if I OC'd I'd likely get whiplash from trying to stay situationally aware. It's also a misconception that CC'ing equals carrying a peashooter. I carry a Taurus PT92AF (M9 clone) every day. Sometimes I carry a 1911, too. Both are full framed semi-autos. Unless I was heading to the lake, that's what I would carry. The lake equals the 92 in a backpack, and a 709 Slim or 38 Spl IWB of swimming trunks. If you guys want to OC, that's cool. It's your right. If you're out in the country somewhere, I'll walk right along with you. If your in town, though, I'm not getting near you if you OC (unless you have a REAL badge on your belt). Speaking of badges...I saw a bunch of the HCP badges at the show last weekend. I was gonna take a pic for your guys, but I was trying to keep up with my dad.

There's the answer. That's exactly what I would do. You never know, it could be a elderly person who is unable to do it for themselves. Don't you dare take a dime of repayment for the cost of the flag.

Some cites run a 28 on every traffic stop. The one that I live in does (TN), and the one my wife works in does (VA). The HCP info only comes back in VA, though...

I actually had to go up 2 sizes...I have a big, umm, gun.

The wife's HCP showed up today. Only took her's 36 days. They are getting quicker!
