  1. LMAO!!!!!!! I finally got through to TN Dept of Safety on the phone. They said mine was issued on 18 December, too. Allow 10-14 business days, not counting weekends...but you should allow more than 14 because the printing department is backed up... This must be the standard answer nowadays. How the heck can they issue everybody's on the 18th of December? This is hogwash!
  2. I just heard Ron Ramsey saying that the legislature will "re-write" the legislation early on in this session. He's a local guy, and it was on a local radio station...FWIW
  3. Yeah...I did everything they told me to do, and when they dislocated my spine they sent me home with a general (under honorable conditions) discharge. They couldn't get me out fast enough! I wanted to get better, and stay so I could get even, but they had other ideas.
  4. I was in and out in 20 minutes. Two weeks later it took my wife two and a half hours at the same location..
  5. Typically, you can have the funeral home get in touch with the local veterans service organization (DAV, VFW, IAVA, etc.) to perform the honors.
  6. Only in your home state (intra-state), not cross-country (Interstate). Having said that, I was a driver while I lived in TX, and I never had a problem getting 2500-3000 miles a week while never leaving that state
  7. Scariest words from a 2lt, "in my experience..."
  8. I'll order the personalized one from the show in Kingsport in a few weeks...
  9. They having a show in Ktown this weekend? Where at?
  10. Just went to Game Stop, and they have the regular 360 with a 160Gig hard drive for $199.99 and the 360 Elite with a game and 320 Gig hard drive for $299.99. Just thought I'd let you know.
  11. I think all but the cheapest has a hard drive these days. I think you can get them around $249 with a 160 Gig hard drive.
  12. I read that one too (for a second time tonight, actually) but that's not the one I'm thinking of. Seems like it was in Memphis, but my memory isn't so good right now...
  13. There are plenty out there, but most were actual drug dealers who were tried and convicted of murder (no doubt a by product of the drug dealing and nothing to do with no-knock warrants. Here's another one from Titusville, FL: In February 1989, police in Titusville, Florida raid the home of 58-year-old Charles DiGristine, a retired painter. As a flashbang grenade detonates near the front door, DiGristine's wife screams, and DiGristine runs to his bedroom to get a handgun. Officer Stephen House, dressed in dark clothing and a black mask, charges into the bedroom with his gun drawn. DiGristine shoots and kills him. Police raided on information from an anonymous informant that the house was being used by armed drug dealers. They found only a small amount of marijuana belonging to DiGristine's son. DiGristine was charged and tried for first-degree murder. A jury acquitted him. When DiGristine then filed suit against the city for the raid in 1990, the Titusville city manager responded, "It appears from the publicity achieved by filing very close to the anniversary date of this occurrence that it fits with the overall plan of greed and publicity."
  14. Well, here's one, but it's not in TN. It was in Tulsa, OK Full-screenDeputy Newt Ellenbarger -- the Mary Lou Coonfield Raid In August 1996, Tulsa police raid the home of 68-year-old Mary Lou Coonfield on a drug warrant. Coonfield awakes to find a man in black standing in her bedroom, holding a gun. She grabs a .22-caliber pistol and fires, wounding Tulsa County Deputy Sheriff Newt Ellenbarger. The warrant for the raid on Coonfield's home would later be thrown out, ruled in both 1996 and 1997 to be illegal. In 1999, a jury acquitted Coonfield of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and feloniously pointing a weapon, due to Oklahoma's "Make My Day" law, which states that "an occupant of a house is justified in using physical force, including deadly force, against another person who has unlawfully entered the house if the occupant reasonably believes that the other person might use any physical force, no matter how slight, against any occupant of the house." Coonfield, who's both hard of hearing and has poor eyesight, says she didn't hear police announce themselves before entering, and thought she was being robbed. 15. It was in TN. I'm pretty sure I found the link in a thread on this site, but it may have been TFF. I'd probably never find it again now...
  16. I did the app and finger prints on 11/17. Maybe mine was issued on 12/18, too. I haven't called, but I will in the morning to see...
  17. I've read of at least one case of the shooter walking after a no-knock warrant was served on the wrong house in the middle of the night. Not only was it the wrong address, but it was the wrong freaking street. Cops with God complexes should really be more careful...
  18. Yeah.. not joking about it. He has 4 or 5 systems and he wants one of each. He can tell you just about everything there is to know about each gaming console ever made.
  19. X2 I bought the 360 for because of Netflix, and that I was not interested in Blu ray or whatever it is. We stream movies through it all the time. I've read that the PS3 will do this now, too, though. I haven't had any problems out of our system in the last year, but I do know some guys still get the red ring of death. It's not as bad now as it used to be on the earlier machines, though. All that said, I will be buying a PS3 in the near future, just so we can have both systems. My son is a gaming collector, and has almost all of the old systems. We are still working on getting a few though (anybody have a Atari 2600 for sale?). My wife also wants a Wii, so it looks like I'll have a house full of this stuff.
  20. I urge you to go to the kidnapping thread. There's scenarios where a HCP could think that the GG is actually a BG, and then mistakenly shoot the wrong person while attempting to defend someone else. This is why it is sometimes better to just be a good witness.
  21. I'm a little late to this, but I'll make it official if there is any question... Name of Park: All Address: All City or County: Bristol, TN in Sullivan County Results of vote: Ban on firearms in city parks. City Council Meeting July 7, 2009 Page 7 of 11 C. Resolutions: 1. Resolution 09-69 - A Resolution Prohibiting the Possession of Handguns in Municipal Parks. City Manager Broughton reviewed this Resolution, which prohibits the possession of handguns in City parks. The City has prohibited firearms in municipal parks for many years, but recent State legislation requires the City to adopt a new resolution to specifically prohibit people who are authorized to carry handguns from possessing them in public parks. Without this resolution, holders of state issued handgun permits will be allowed to carry handguns in City parks beginning September 1st. The new law also requires the prohibition be posted, and does not affect on-duty authorized law enforcement personnel. City Attorney Jack Hyder defined “possession†legally. Mayor Testa invited comments from the public. Greg Carrier, 5 Kingsbridge, spoke against the resolution and feels it has been proven by State statistics that permit carriers are not the problem gun-carriers. He also reminded Council that the right to bear arms is provided by the Constitution. Councilman Shumaker moved to approve the Resolution, and Vice Mayor Feierabend seconded. Councilman Staton spoke against the Resolution and stated it denies a person the legal right to carry a gun which is a right specifically granted by the second amendment to the Constitution. Shumaker discussed gun ownership and his belief that handguns are designed for a human being to kill and/or seriously maim another human being and that Council should continue to prohibit guns in parks. Councilman Messimer also spoke against the resolution and supported Councilman Staton’s remarks. The Resolution passed by the following roll call vote: Councilman Shumaker Yes Councilman Messimer No Mayor Testa Yes Vice Mayor Feierabend Yes Councilman Staton No

  23. You think these guys are done??
  24. I see no need for open carry in a public situation, but if that's your thing, that's your thing. I won't stand beside you, though.
  25. The only one I've ever seen is in a case at Gunslingers in Kingsport. I'll stay concealed, and have no need for one. I guess my main point was why does everyone see the need to pile on? It almost seems like all the high school kids jumping on the nerd that likes comics or something. If that's their thing, then let it be their thing. So what if it's stupid?
