  1. Yeah, we're a bunch of tightasses In fairness, tipping is not as big a part of Canadian culture as it is here. Servers in Canada earn at least minimum wage if not more, so they don't depend on tips like servers here do. After living in NY for a couple of years I learned the importance of tips so I tip a minimum of 20% now.
  2. The Walmart in Franklin got a shipment in over the weekend and they had .40 Blazer Brass. The only down side is that they are only allowing one box per customer. Guy I talked to yesterday said that they were getting ammo in a little more regularly so they were hoping to lift that one box rule pretty soon.
  3. I was in the Cool Springs Academy on Sunday and they had a few boxes of Blazer .40 and a few boxes of WWB .38 spl and that was it...no 9mm at all.
  4. I think I just tactically peed my pants
  5. Yeah, I was expecting someone to explain to me that you guys were talking about a movie Mel Brooks has made some classic movies...Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, History of the World Part I, SpaceBalls...
  6. What in the Wide Wide World of Sports are you guys talking about?
  7. When I applied for my HCP, that's what I did, downloaded the form and filled it out, but when I went to apply they said I had to fill out a new form there in the office and that the downloaded form was no good.
  8. That guy (capt Canada) is an embarrassment to my people
  9. That's also against the law. By law an employer has to pay an H1B vis holder the same wages as an American counterpart. Does hte above abuse happen? yes, it does, but instead of just saying let's scrap the program, how about the enforce the law? I would be a lot more concerned with the illegal aliens (some 12-20 million) than the few hundred thousand visa holders who have gone about coming here the correct way.
  10. Is there an age that they don't charge for kids? Like under 2?
  11. This has been brought up before, but has type of ammo ever been used against a person in a defensive shooting? I would say that unless you are using some exotic type of ammo this will not be an issue. I can't imagine someone thinking 'I'm in the mood to kill today so I think I'll go with the Gold dot instead of the hydrashocks'.
  12. Yeah, I knew that was what you were talking about. I think you are generalizing about that program as much as people generalize about union vs non-union. Is that visa program being used incorrectly in some cases, sure, but in many cases it is a legitimate method to get skilled workers. It is not an attack on American workers. I would worry a LOT more about the throngs of illegals. At least the visa holders are doing it the correct way, going through the pains of the immigration system and paying their share of taxes, etc.
  13. What's an HV1 visa? Never heard of that one.
  14. http://www.snopes.com/crime/prevent/rape.asp While some of the advise sounds good, not all of this is correct (especially the part of rapists choosing victims based on hair length). The last part (number 10 about the crying baby) is also a myth that you can find on snopes.
  15. I was in the same boat when I first started carrying and my wife was very uncomfortable around guns. I told her that I was carrying it for our family's protection and after seeing some news stories about all the crazies out there looking to harm people, she has totally gotten behind the idea. Many times now as we're getting ready to go out, she'll ask me if I have my gun on. She still is a little uncomfortable around the gun, but she's getting there. Even mentioned at one point about getting her HCP (which I highly encouraged). Sometimes they just need a little time to get used to something and realize you're not trying to be some cowboy but rather is looking to protect your family.
  16. Yeah, redundant and government seem to go hand in hand.
  17. Yeah, every employee has to fill these out and show the employer some form of id to prove they can legally work in this country. If a person is on a work visa, the employer is supposed to update the documentation whenever the visa is renewed. For citizens, you only have to show id once. Most places give these out when you start employment along with your W4 etc.
  18. ?????? The left has no power in this country? Have you not seen the new president? And these last couple of paragraphs make it seem like our only hope is from the far left...I would bet most of us here do not agree with that. Things may be bleek right now, but I'm not quite convinced that the sky is falling...and I'm definately sure that our hope is not in the left.
  19. Definately worth the trip. I bought my first gun there and the staff was very helpful and never once did they make me feel like I was bothering them (unlike some other gun stores I've been in). I went in thinking I was going to buy one gun and left with a different one after the staff took the time to help me find a gun that suited my needs. I also took my hcp class there. I wish I had more time to get up there more, great place.
  20. +1 My wife got one for me for Christmas for my XD9 and I love it. Very comfortable and well concealed.
  21. I think you are confusing legal with illegal immigrants. The majority of people from south of the border that will work for that are not here legally. If they are, they would have to be paid min wage (though I don't think there should be such a thing) and will pay into taxes and all the other gov't programs that we're forced to pay into. In other words, they pay their share just like the rest of us.
  22. No, I wasn't talking about taking care of this country first, I was talking about the anti-immigration sentiments. I agree we don't need to be sending money to other countries in the form of foreign aid and I have no problem leveling the playing field regarding global commerce. But I don't agree with the notion of closing up the borders to legal immigration. This country was built on immigration and it is still important in the long term health of this nation.
  23. Cause immigration has never worked for this country, right? A little Xenophobic maybe?
  24. I love mine and it's a great holster for winter when covering up is pretty easy to do. I have found that I have to me much more conscience of what I'm wearing as it is a little bulky to conceal without a coat on (ie have to wear looser/longer shirts).
