Yeah, Band of Brothers is amazing. I've seen it a number of times and every time it's on History Channel and I see it, I watch it. I watched the first few episodes of Generation Kill, when Comcast made a mistake and gave me HBO for free, which they eventually cut off so I didn't get to see the whole series. I thought it was pretty good, but no where near as good as Band of Brothers. I would like to see the whole series at some point though. A movie that I always get 'trapped' into watching if I see it's on is We Were Soldiers.

First off, you obviously are just spouting off about things you think you know, if you think that DDT is bad for you (proven by multiple studies to have no bad effects at all). As for the rest of your rants, Maybe you should get on your soap box about eating cheeseburgers and fries or Krispy Kream donuts as obesity causes just as much or not more health problems which adds to the burden of the healthcare industry. So instead of stuffing your face with McDonalds next time, why don't you do us all a favour and fellate a shotgun to help keep our health care costs down.

My guess would be that your son misinterpreted something the instructor said. I took my class at Guns and Leather and the instructor never said anything about registering a carry gun.

Most likely you won't be able to purchase a handgun. I'm a permanent resident and one of the first things I did when I got my green card was buy my xd9 When filling out the paper work for buying a gun, I seem to remember that there is a section that deals with non-permanent residents, but I think it's for pretty specific circumstances (I kind of just glanced over it since it no longer applied to me). And I'm pretty sure a handgun permit is out completely. Until I got my green card, I couldn't even have a TN drivers license, only one of those driver certificates. That was a HUGE pain getting into bars and having to explain that I wasn't an American or a Mexican.

Or they see your gun at the last minute and decide that maybe now is not the best time to be robbing the place. Most robbers are not looking to die or get in a gun fight, they just want money. Seems like a lot of people here think that every robber or BG is looking to take out a bunch of people and that you're going to be first cause you're wearing a gun.

I would agree, and I'm from Canada. Gun control is on the rise in Canada with the stupid gun registration program and it's almost impossible to even own a handgun so I'm guessing the consulant would not like you carrying there. Btw, one of the first things I did when I got my green card was buy an XD9...man I love this country!

+1 That's the holster I have and I love it. I generally use the paddle because I can't carry at work so I take it off and leave it in the car. Makes taking it off and putting it back on for my drive home a snap.

+1 Good response. There are many states where OC is considered normal and no one bats an eye. Hopefully TN will be like that someday. I don't normally OC but I can see valid arguments for both sides and how you choose to carry is your choice and I respect that. What really bugs me is all to CC people that make it their point to proclaim how stupid OC is and how anyone that OC's is a cowboy or is trying to look cool. That is the same argument that the anti-guns use for ALL people that carry. If you don't like OC then fine, don't do it, but don't attack people that make a different carry choice than you.

I believe the receipt can only be used as a temporary permit for renewals, not new applications.

I work out on Charlotte and go to 2 of those shops now and then. The last time I went each one had one handgun (one had a Taurus 1911 for around $550 and the other had a really beat up looking Taurus PT 92, forget the price). They had a few long guns and shotguns but nothing to write home about. Not really worth a trip out there.

So you are scared of the mentality that Punisher is expressing or think it's what causes the us vs them issues, but you are entering into the situation with the mentality that the leo is just wanting an excuse to lock you up and take away your rights. Sounds like the same thing to me, just in the opposite direction.

It's also illegal to shoot/kill a person unless there is a reasonable threat to your life. A poisonous snake in my back yard where my young daughter might be is a reasonable threat to me, so the snake dies and I don't think I have to worry about the legality of killing the snake.

I've got a quick question...what about restaurants that don't sell alcohol but allow you to bring it in (Modell's in Franklin allows you to bring your own wine for a corking fee but doesn't sell alcohol itself). I went in the restaurant to pick up my wife recently and was carrying concealed. Did I break the law?
