1.
No, but a Ruger 10/22 is a Ruger 10/22 no matter where you buy it.
Which has absolutely nothing to do with why I buy firearms from businesses who's primary business is firearms or why I won't shop at Wallyworld in any case.
 2.
There was nothing great about Mr. Lincoln other than he presided over the greatest killing of Americans in history. Oh, and he ushered in the foundations of what has us in the unfortunate place we now find ourselves.
There was nothing honorable in the practice of slavery nor was there anything honorable in brothers taking up arms against their brothers. The Civil War was not Lincoln's fault; it was just his problem to deal with...we have a Constitution and a rule of law so that we don't have to have civil wars to solve our problems; I hope we don't forget that again.
 3.
At least you got to vote.. Many who serve did not get the opportunity. That is deplorable.
It's no big deal that they didn't get their votes counted; there were plenty of others. In fact, many, many counties in states like Ohio and Florida had a more recorded votes than than they had eligible voters living there. Funny, how that works.
 4.
Plus he totally ignored the 10th Amendment.
Lincoln was a great President and everybody, including SCOTUS ignores the 10th Amendment.
 5. I will not be surprised at all if we see civil unrest but not due to secession from the union. However, there is something appealing about the "CSA" (Conservative States of America).
 6. It was a very peaceful time for me...I just waited for all the idiot buying to die down and then went back to doing what I always do.
 7. Secession petition...yeah....like that will accomplish something. Thanks for posting - it's been a couple of days since I had a decent laugh!
 8.
Not sure why everyone thinks WM is the Debil anyway. They are still employing a lot of people. They could just as easily close the stores and just be a mailorder from overseas. I do not pay a lot of attention to ammo and gun prices..Thats G`s job. But I know that they have stuff cheaper most of the times than other stores.Only thing I really pay attention to is that my salad stuff is organic..all other stuff I dont care.
I don't think they are the debil (I assume you meant "Devil) nor do I think they are evil...I have many and sundry reasons for why I don't shop there. Moreover, when it comes to specialized things like firearms, I support stores that specialize in those things. A firearm isn't a box of dishwasher detergent nor a package of pork chops.
 9. If the question is between "party" and "principles" then my choice will always be principles; it's not even a real choice for me. However, if I am to abandon my principles then it only makes sense to abandon them all and simply become a taker rather than a producer; vote for the Democrats and take whatever crumbs they'll give me for my vote while I sit at home and relax...non of that 50 or 60 hour work week anymore. If I'm in the minority then apparently everyone who believes in the principles of freedom and independence are as well; or so it would appear based on the last two elections.
 10.
I wouldn't want you to abandon your principles. However, like those of us who wish for third party recognition you must be willing to be rejected for standing by your principles.
But, apparently, the hope is that enough Republican voters who espouse the same principles as I do will be willing to abandon their's and keep voting anyway.
 11.
I agree, but Didn't you get the memo? That would turn the GOP into the democrat party. The GOP has to stick to its guns and have a even more far right conservative nominee the next time around.
For months I've had Paulbots and Johnsonbots and whateverbots tell me they were going to vote for someone other than Romney because Romney wasn't this or wasn't that and that they weren't going to abandon their principles...now it seems as if some folks here want conservatives and people of faith to abandon THEIR principles just so the Republicans can win an election. Somebody please explain to me why I'm supposed to abandon what I believe in and were I to do so, what kind of man would I be???
 12. Look guys; this thread it a wast of time...if you want to know why Romney lost all you have to do is turn on any of the Sunday talk shows...all those liberals are more than happy to tell the Republican party what is has to do to win elections. It's very thoughtful of them actually.
 13. Regardless of how much anyone complains about the candidates we can chose from, we can only chose from those who are willing to serve and frankly, I think that with every election cycle, there is less and less reason for anyone to want to do so except, unfortunately, reasons that appeal most to those with the worst reasons for running. I'm more worried about the lack of good people stepping up to run than I am who doesn't vote or why. I believe it is also true that there are a lot of people who shouldn't vote either because they are truly too stupid, too uneducated or simply chose to be completely uninformed of the issues....when such don't vote; that's a good thing. I voted in my first general election in 1972 and haven't missed a general since even when deployed...I've only missed a couple for primary votes and only because there was nothing I felt I needed to vote on. Even so, I'm seriously considering not voting any more...I don't see the point.

 15.
...As for the debt level, it is bad, and needs to be addressed. We have kicked the can down the road over the past 12 years. That is 12 years too long. However, most people see Japan as a stable nation, right? What if I told you their debt load compared to their GDP (Gross Domestic Product) was twice as bad as ours? Yet, they do not seem to be in a panic over it at all... Why?
This has been building for a lot more than 12 years...this course we started on began decades before that. Having worked for and retired from a Japanese owned company I am fairly sure that the Japanese people who know what is going on are just as concerned as anyone...they simply don't know what to do about it and have no more courage to deal with it than anyone else. The world economy is going to collapse; the only thing that has prevented it so far has been wealthier countries, mostly the U.S.; propping them up and that is going to stop soon because worthless money, no matter how much of if you print, is still worthless money. We've been insulated from the effects so far but all this has happened before and it always ends the same way. The only real issues left to wonder about is which card in the house of cards we've built will be the one that falls and brings it all down. Will it be the world abandoning the U.S. Dollar? Will it be a rise in interest rates to their non-artificially reduced levels? Will it be a major terrorist attack that shatters world markets? Maybe a refusal of countries refusing to buy U.S. debt any longer? A chain reaction collapse among a few of the EU countries? Those are just a handful of things that can go wrong...there are plenty of others.
 16. I love the people of Illinois...I love Chicago...lived there for a year...I used to visit all the time just because I loved it but I stopped that a few years ago when I began to realize that my tourist dollars was only helping to perpetuate their unconstitutional gun laws. I travel Route 66 which, for anyone who doesn't know, starts in Chicago with a significant portion running the length of Illinois - I won't go there anymore; these days I pick up the route in Missouri. My problem isn't with the people of Illinois; it's with the politicians who RUN the state and who operate it as if it's a soviet state...as long as that condition exists, they'll never see my face, or my money ever again.
 17.
I Agree..We are through..The Republic is DEAD..We will have to wait till it all burns down and rebuild but I see a Revolution coming. That's all I'm going to say on the matter.
The problem with revolutions is that there has to be enough revolutionaries willing to fight and die for their principles; sometimes, even for a lost cause against insurmountable odds. Maybe there are enough folks out there to put it all on the line but I'm not sure there are enough folks left who TRULY value freedom and liberty enough to do that. Few of us really understand just what our founders did for us...what it took to give us our country. If I've heard it once I've heard it a million times this year; people complaining about how poor our choices in candidates was...running for office and changing our direction through peaceful means is much easier than a revolution and if men of good character are unwilling to even run for office today; why should we think that there are enough men of such character and bravery to truly lay everything on the line for an idea?
 18.
Nope. Nobody was going to save us from $16 trillion debt and a country that only appears to be solvent.
I don't think you understand the implications of what I posted above; or maybe you do...I don't know. What I do know is that everybody will understand sooner or later; the only thing I am not sure of is how long it will take. But hey...we didn't fall for the lessor of two evils this time did we...nope...we marched right up and chose the bigger of two evils.
From an overseas newspaper: "The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their president."..
19.
I didn't know Hitler was born in Kenya. The more you know. Point is this, I agree, it is a moot point now. He lost, and those who are angry he lost will rage, grumble, whine, and even belly ache for the next few weeks. Some will continue until the next election, when (insert new Republican candidate's name) will save us all.
No one is going to save us from $20Trillion debt and a bankrupt country. NO ONE.
 20.
I can't say I disagree with him. With one exception of using the term conservative to describe the Republican Party. I haven't seen very many conservatives in that party for a while. There are still a few, but the number is dwindling.
Yeah..."conservatism" is not interchangeable with "Republican" nor do I think conservatism is the problem, in fact, I believe the lack of conservatives in the party, at least in positions of power, is the problem.
 21. James Yeager seems to have an interesting take on the election... https://www.youtube....d&v=Q9HMen89KHQ
 22.
True. He didn't do anything to "me" personally.... but the point here is that he still signed the damned thing into law....
The other point which you always conveniently leave out is that he signed that "damn thing into law" for and with the support of the people of that ONLY state the law affected.
...Everyone wan'ts to trow O under the bus for the bills he voted for and sponsored in IL but they turn a blind eye to what Romney did.
No, I don't want to throw Obama under the bus for his past and vehement anti-gun stance, which you generally ignore, but if it's fair to throw Romney under the bus for his past it certainly seems fair to do the same to Obama. What I really care about is what's going to happen now because Obama has given nothing but signals, indications and outright declarative statements that his past is absolutely an indicator of future performance...but hey, the "dangerous to the Second Amendment" Mr. Romney is history and the gun-loving, Constitution-loving Obama gets four more years...I'm sure we've got nothing to worry about.
 23. I predict a time coming when our enjoyment of firearms will be limited to single shot shotguns and derringers which can only be owned by heavily regulated private clubs...all private firearm ownership will have been rendered illegal or at the very least, too expensive for any but the most wealthy among us to afford. Even then, I suspect there will still be people here on TGO willing to tell us how much more dangerous Romney would be to our 2A rights than Obama. Well, actually, they won't tell us that because I suspect forums like this will probably not be allowed to exist; they'll be shutdown because they are too filled with "hate speech" and "radical ideas".
 24.
Hmm. Actions are louder than words. He actively banned firearms. (Actions.) He claimed to be pro-2nd A, to garner the 2nd A voting block. (Words.)
Please explain to me exactly how Romney's time as governor in Massachusetts and the firearms related legislation he signed affected your second amendment rights then or now? What he did in MA he did with the support, misguided as it might be, of the people who live there; does what they want in their state not matter at all?
 25.
The NRA vetts almost anyone with an R behind their name. The truth is that Romney took his pro gun stance in a feeble attempt to garner some votes. He is simply an opportunist, and that my friend is why he isn't President Elect.
Yes, the NRA vets a lot of people and they don't give endorsements to those who don't deserve it...having an "R" after one's name is not a guarantee of NRA approval. I've never thought of Romney as a huge friend of the Second Amendment. However, I have seen evidence that he believes in the Constitution and would certainly not go out of his way to strip people of any of their rights; 2A or otherwise.
