    "Good" Entry 1911

You need to go to Farnsworth Firearms in Vonore and handle the full size High standard. He does not like the Rock Island at all. I really like the feel of the High Standard. They have the features that are supposed to be extra and he has them for a little less than 500.00 plus tax and background. Good guy to deal with and he will be honest with you. Talked me out of buying a gun in his case because he had sent too many back for repair.
  2. You can buy a 9mm barrel for it also. This will allow you to practice with the 9mm and carry the 40 for defense.
  3. Is Taurus still making the 905 revolver? They show it in the catalog but I see no email to ask them. Has anyone bought one or shot one of these? I like the idea of 9mm in a revolver if it works. I know Smith had a problem with theirs a while back. Can anyone give feedback?
  4. need a little help. Would you guys and gals make this trade? This is an EDC gun so it needs to be light, reliable and powerful. I would have to give 60 dollars in boot for the glock.

    ruger sr9c

ok, you guys talked me out of trading my sw 642 for a Taurus 605. Now I have a chance to trade for the ruger sr9c. I know the stopping power is about the same. Is the capacity enough reason to trade? I know you can reload an auto faster usually (I've tried a revolver reload at night, not easy!!) but the revolver is lighter and I don't think you can stick the ruger in your pocket. What do you guys think?

    snub 357

Thanks guys!! I don't have the money to buy another gun right now so it was trade or nothing. I think I will keep the smith and look for an old ruger security six with a 3inch barrel or maybe an old blued Smith. I just have 200 rounds of magnum ammo and nothing to do with it so I was thinking of trading up to the magnum.

    snub 357

I have a question which I hope someone here can answer. Is it worth the extra power and extra barrel length to trade a sw 642 for a taurus 605 357 with a 3 inch barrel. The longer barrel could do double duty for me when I go horse riding but I realize I MAY be dropping down in quality. What do you people think? Is it worth the power and longer barrel?
  8. This doesn't tell us when they are coming out. sounds like they sent you a form letter. I would really like to hear an announcement saying when they are coming out. I have a craviing to trade my 642 up to something bigger. I have been looking at a taurus 605 with a 3 inch barrel, but I really would like to have a military caliber and preferably 45 in the revolver.
  9. Can a person go to the other state and pick it up? I was told this one time a while back? Then all you would be doing is transporting your gun back.
  10. Thanks for the input. I need to see if there are better grips and holsters for iwb.
  11. Does anyone have any experience with these guns? The one I am looking at is stainless and does not have the lock. It is a bobbed hammer also. Are these reliable guns? I am not looking for the most accurate, but I do need reliable. I like the extra length but not if it won't function or hit a barn at 15 yards. I already know everyone says not as good as ............... (insert brand) but I would like to hear from people who have or had one. Thanks for the help.
  12. I can't believe no one on here has seen or shot one of these.
  13. Does anyone have any actual experience with these guns? I can pick up a commander size but I know nothing about them. are they interchangeable with all colt parts? Are they reliable? I know they are made in the Philippines so are they pot metal?
  14. Has anyone heard the latest on the Charter rimless revolver? I thought it would be a great idea but they never made it to the shelves. I was looking for a 45 an thought these would be great. Especially if they could make a speed loader to operate with them.

    ruger p345

are the Ruger P345 pistols any good? I have a chance to buy one and I have heard they will not feed hollow point ammo very well. Is this true? This would be my EDC and I want it to work with all kinds of ammo. Let me know if anyone actually has one and can give me an honest review of them.

    taurus 455

Can someone give me an honest opinion on the taurus 455 revolver? I have a chance to trade for one but I heard that they have some problems. The only one I have shot wouldn't turn real well when the stellar clips were in but was fine unloaded. I think it had too tight of a clearance. Was this common or is most of them ok?
  17. Here I go again. Trying to decide if the glock 27 is as easy to carry as the sw 642 snub. I have the chance to trade for the glock. I would have to add 50.00 to get it though. Is this a good trade?

    sw99

I am looking at buying a sw99 in 40 cal. These look like the predecessor to the m and p series. Are these good guns and are they very accurate? Can you get holsters and accessories such as magazines for them? Give me honest reviews if you have or had one.
  19. If you don't mind a little drive then go to Farnsworth Firearms in Vonore. They have an indoor range attached and they offer one free range visit with each gun purchase. I went in Coal Creek last Thursday and it took 10 minutes for the two guys standing behind the counter to say anything to me. I had money in my pocket to buy but I just told them I wasn't interested anymore since it took so long and walked out.
  20. ok, ok, ok, ok, ok, I think I got it now. Seems like no would be the answer! I really just needed someone to hit me in the head with a brick ....................................... But the whole house hurt was a little too much.LOL. I can't believe EVERYONE agreed on this one.
  21. If you had the opportunity, would you trade a 642 for a new taurus judge? I would have to give 50 bucks because the judge is new. They judge is blue, 2 1/2 barrel and not the 3 inch magnum. This gun would be an everyday carry piece. My first problem with the Taurus is the lack of 45 ammo around here. Would you make this trade?
  22. I know this isn't really second amendment, but didn't Ramsey allow the state supreme to continue choosing their justices in an unconstitutional way? All he had to do was let is sunset. Now we have to keep letting some dirty lawyers do backroom deals and tell the governor "If you don't like the ones we send then we can send some that are worse." That will affect our second amendment because they will rule on every law we pass. Just like the guns in restuarant bill that is now stalled.
  23. Well, it must be me. I took my 642 down to the local range where a gentleman who shoots snubs often could try it out. At 7 yards he put 4 out of 5 on a 2inch shoot and see. I will go back and try to find out why I pull to the right. Thanks for your help and I will look at the link showing typical causes.
  24. Is the 642 sighted in from Smith using 158 standard pressure? I am trying to determine if the bullet weights will cause that much variation in impact.
  25. I fired it both left and right handed. I used some reloads, some remington factory loads and even some 135 grain +p. I would think it was me if the shots had been all over, but most were to the right so I don't know. Could still be me.
