  1. This has probably been discussed but I could not find it. How far is the effective range against a human from the carbine? I know that deer is only 100 yards max. What do you think?
  2. How hard is ammo to get for these?
  3. I would rather it be in the humpback version rather than regular hammer it I am interested in this one!
  4. Thanks, I have actually found a used single shot that is in 223. I will have to check the twist.
  5. Is it legal to hunt deer with the 556/223 round in Tennessee?
  6. What is a good round to buy for hunting and what scope, if any, would you use?
  7. Is this ok for deer out to one hundred yards? New to deer hunting so I was just wondering.

    Sks sights

Don't talk much in the long gun section but I just bought an sks and it is shooting to the left. I did not know if a scope is solid enough to stay accurate or if I should buy one of the rear mount peep sights and move to the right some. Which would hold accuracy better over time? I have heard that the scopes will move over shooting time. Any one used either or both?
  9. I am looking at revolver verses semi, but I am looking more at whether the short barrel puts them in the same category on ballistics. I have the choice between an old smith38 special or a compact 9.
  10. Choice between 3 inch 9mm or 4 inch 38 special. Not really concerned about concealing because of my life style. I can hide the 4 inch in my belt. I am looking at which one is better for defense. Not in general but within the parameters. Thanks for input.
  11. Yes I would vote for a democrat if they were strong second amendment. There cannot be anything worse than a traitor.these two sent me emails stating they would not vote for ANY gun control. I say band together and find a new tea party candidate who is not in some government pocket. On a lighter note maybe Stacy Campfield will run against one of them.
  12. By the way, have you ever noticed where these polls are conducted? Never do you hear of them happening in the south or real rural areas. And only using a 1000 or 2000 people. As a teacher this is what we call a biased sample and misleading graphs. Go to people who have the most guns and use them, then see what the polls say!
  13. I hadn't thought about the combo guns. I was just trying to see if people would rather have. I originally thought about a 22 rifle because you could kill small game farther out and still have a large caliber for 50-75 yard shots on medium game. At close ranges and proper placement the 22 rifle could be used on medium deer sized animals. This is not hunting but SHTF survival mode. I see that most people would go with the opposite though. I was also looking at how much more 22 I could carry if the time period got too long.
  14. If you only had this choice, which would it be for survival and defense. A 22 rifle and a large bore pistol ( or revolver) that has ammunition readily available. Not exotic ammo. Or the other way. Large bore rifle and 22 pistol or revolver. Please explain your reasoning.
  15. Has anyone carried this gun and can you give any reviews on this one

    357 for edc

Does anyone carry the 4 inch revolver for edc? If so, what holsters do you use to ease the weight?

    Ammo

I was told that the new ammo being sold today had a component which would break down after a few years.

    Ammo

Does ammo have an expiration date? Someone told me that the powder is made to deteriorate in two years.
  19. I know they are different style guns, but if you were to carry iwb which would you prefer and why? I know it is going to be weight, capacity, single vs double action and all inclusive. Let me know.
  20. Strange to me but the one that fits is the keltec grip on the p11. If we are not talking about accuracy then it fits the best.
  21. Ok. Not much help. At this point it is even between the two. Is the use of 38 special canceled by the extra capacity of the keltec?
  22. If you only had a choice of the following two guns for concealed carry, which would you choose? The keltec p11 or the rossi 462 which is the 357 snubnose. Tell me why.
  23. Is it legal to carry in state parks now? I have a park which is close that still has the no firearms sign posted. Has this changed or is it still illegal if the sign is posted?
  24. If you had to choose (in case of emergency) would you use a 22 magnum in a 4 inch revolver or a 40 caliber carbine to kill a deer. I know neither but I'm talking this is all you had to work with.

    ruger sp101

Does anyone actually carry the Ruger sp101 as the EDC? I am looking to trade my Glock 27 for one and did not know if the weight would be an issue. I know I am giving up some rounds but I don't frequent bad areas of town and I have young children in the house so I like the heavier trigger pull. I also do not shoot enough to stay up on my stoppage drills. Would like some info before I trade though on how good a carry gun the Ruger is.
