I just went ahead and upgraded to a Real ID when I got the motorcycle endorsement. My understanding is that a passport will work too.

According to handgunlaw.US, it's not against the law to carry past "no guns allowed" signs in Indiana.

The more we learn the worse it gets. It's heartbreaking and frustrating. I can't imagine how the families feel. The school had basically zero measures to prevent this including classroom door locks which had been broken for years.

My understanding is that the only abortions allowed now in TN are for medical reasons such as a ectopic pregnancy. There are no exceptions for rape or incest which are main sticking points for a lot of people.

We got a lot at my house and we needed it badly. I haven't had to mow my front yard since June 8th. It's gone dormant and brown.

I actually thought today it's possible that both are true. He could have been some sort of far left loser at one point before being pro Trump. Looking at him he looks like a a confused and pathetic individual that doesn't stand for anything and just wants to get a reaction from anyone willing to give it. I think your initial claim of mental health is accurate because I just read he attempted suicide in 2019 and police were informed at that time. Another time he threatened people with his knife collection apparently.

I enjoyed having you around during the election because this place was a circle jerk and you were one of the few people to have a different opinion. Lately it seems like you've gotten frustrated and all your posts have shifted towards being snarky. I have certainly been guilty of this too but I've tried to get better about it. But yes, some people here hate hearing a different opinion and aren't going to like you or I no matter how politely we offer a different opinion. My advice would be the same as the others. Soften the way at which you debate. It's nice having a different view point here. Especially someone in the military such as yourself.

I think it's fine to change your mind over time on issues. Sometimes I will start to question my stance after a horrific shooting. That train of thought usually stops every time I sit down and really think about the proposed gun control laws that are presented. I honestly don't think any of them will be meaningful at all. Nearly all are just attempts to make us feel safer which I hate. The other issue is that a lot of people calling for gun control are completely uneducated on firearms. They don't understand that an assault weapon ban is really a ban on all semi auto rifles. Some people on Reddit and Twitter call for an all out ban on the 2nd amendment which isn't helpful at all. On the other hand, I'm extremely concerned about the rate these mass shootings are happening and that our government is simply incapable of doing anything to stop it. As a country, we're so divided we can't even discuss the issue in any meaningful way. No one, and I mean no one, wants to talk about how much crime occurs because of gang violence. Few want to admit just how much new gun laws would disproportionately impact minorities either. They aren't coming to the white suburbs to enforce new gun laws. I can promise you that. So day after day these shootings continue to happen and nothing changes. Republicans are extremely hypocritical because they will blame it on mental health and then refuse to pay for treatment. I want people to be safe when they go to movie theaters, parades and schools. I personally don't feel safe at these places. We have a horrible ####ed up culture that seems to get worse every day. Guns are the easiest thing to blame because we don't know what else to do. I really believe all of us share some of the blame for this, not as gun owners, but as Americans. We are consumed with work, stressed out, and are so divided we're not always decent to one another. Until some sort of top down culture shift happens this will only get worse.

Carry Permit Renewal
White Goodman replied to bigalbaldwin's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
How much does it cost to renew the Enhanced permit for 8 years? I can't seem to find that answer on their website. It looks like you can upgrade from the 8 year permit to lifetime for $200. Edit- finally found it. $50. Not sure the math is worth it personally. -
Greg, you are all over the place on this topic. I've seen you state many times that all politicians are liars and you dislike both parties. You've called out Republicans at times. You were probably one of the more outspoken members against police but seemed to ease up on that the past few years. You've sworn to me that you are not beholden to Republicans. Despite all that you call other members liberals more than anyone else. Anyone who has a different opinion. Some of us have been saying this since 2016 but I'll try it again. We are at the point that we despise both parties. I can't stress enough how much I hate our political system and both groups. I believe that both parties are doing irreversible damage to the country. A lot of Republicans claim this but don't really mean it. I mean it. Our system is broken and both sides are owned by corporate donors. I'm going to continue to call out Republicans on a gun forum where most people are diehard conservatives. I think it's healthy to break up the echo chamber. I'll call out the Democrats too. If any of this makes me a liberal in your eye that's fine. Just know that I'm probably going to keep voting 3rd party because it's the only vote that doesn't make me nauseous.

Need a really good plumber - Memphis area.
White Goodman replied to Grayfox54's topic in General Chat
Agreed. That's what insurance is for. Years ago our AC leaked and ruined our floors. Insurance paid over $10k to have it all fixed. -
Thanks @Chucktshoes. So for those of us with the OG Handgun Carry Permit, we don't need to do anything other than renew like normal?
-
My question was somewhere rhetorical. I find the timing of this change odd because Tennessee just went to permitless carry recently. Not full constitutional carry but close. So one doesn't even need to get a permit to carry most places but NOW Tennessee wants to add these background checks for people who actually have a permit? It doesn't make much sense.
-
Ok. What does that have to do with my question?
-
Why would they pass this law after just removing the requirement to even get a permit? This is the first I'm hearing of it.

We've now seen the most horrific mass shooting since 2012 and came out relatively unscathed as gun owners. It has become increasingly clear that the entire gun control debate is used and loved by both parties. The Democrats know they can't really do anything and probably don't want to because they know it will cost them. Someone mentioned they were probably relieved after the latest SCOTUS ruling. The Republicans use it for votes and create fear any chance they get. They actually helped the Democrats pass this bill because they know they have gun owners by the balls and nothing in the bill was bad enough to upset us. I have been a member here since 2010 and been through many election cycles where we were assured the next Democratic victory would lead to the end of the 2nd Amendment. I still remember people saying Obama was going to put us in FEMA camps. After the events in the last month it's going to be very difficult for me to believe that serious gun control is possible. The Supreme Court has made it clear where they stand. Republicans will need new fear mongering material for the next election. I'm sure both sides will come up with something to keep us fighting with each other.

Looks familiar but I can't remember what this is from. Who is he?
