  1.     My legos are all old-school, back when you had to use your imagination.  Now they make all these fancy formed and moving parts....   :yuck:
  2.     Nope.  An excellent way to get the kids engaged in applying classroom theory to something real.  Wish I'd gotten to build something this cool in school.
  3. I'll take that as a compliment. It's actually in my parents attic. My 5 yr old saw it and the rest of my GI Joe stuff at their house before Christmas. When his little brother gets bigger they'll both get the GI Joe stuff and about 40 billion legos. heh... I also have one of these... and one of these... among other things... :)
  4. You mean the Night Raven? I still have mine from the '80's.... :) The thing I can't figure out with both Iran and North Korea.... What's the fascination with land based ICBM's? Don't they realize that's 60 year old technology? Don't they realize they're easy to detect and shoot down these days? Why waste so much time and money developing something that borders on militarily irrelevant?
  5. The "Jaws" one is hilarious.
  6. Good ole compressible flow.  Amazing what you can do with a little math & physics.    Edit... I'm surprised they published the dimensions of the nozzle.  That takes all the fun out of it.
  7. Saturday is probably better than Sunday for me, but I think I can do either.
  8. Nice idea and reasonably priced for what you get.  Its just automotive led strip lights, you can find them at any auto parts store.  The 8AA batteries give you 12V to power them.
  9.     Mine too.  My wife is very much a book lover and would go bonkers when our son would tear up a book, regardless of what book it was.  At 5, he doesn't tear up books much anymore.  He's moved on to more expensive things...   His little brother isn't quite so bad.

  11.   Interesting.  Mine doesn't seem to care.  But regardless, definitely verify the ammo works.
  12. This is our dog. We believe she's a mix of blue heeler and dalmatian among other things. In retrospect, that's not a combination I'd recommend. She's been a handful to say the least. We got her from the shelter as a very sick puppy 12 years ago this fall. While the tag on her collar says "Opal" (as in black opals commonly found in Australia), she has many, many names. I have a pet name for her (yes, a pet name for a pet) that I think describes her more accurately than simply Opal.... rottenuselessgoodfornothinghunkofstinkingdogflesh. Say that 5 times fast. She also has the distinction of having jumped off the Look Rock Firetower. We think she was after a squirrel or chipmonk. Apparently they climb trees better than dogs.
  13. Here's another excellent source of info on all manner of gear....  http://www.backpacker.com/gear/
  14. Trade that 900ml water bottle for an old-fashioned hot water bottle.  Heat some water over the fire and put the bottle between your legs in the sleeping bag.  It'll keep your lower body warm.    Hiking sticks are a must with a heavy pack.  I normally hike with about 35 lbs as well...  22 lbs of 2 yr old + 8 lbs of child carrier pack + 5 lbs of diapers, wipes, water, and snacks.  Falling isn't an option.
  15. Thanks gents, I needed a good laugh this morning. :)   Carry on...
  16.     Heh... no you're not.  ;)
  17. Congrats!  Parenthood changes everything, in a good way.  Take lots of pictures, you'll be so tired you won't remember the first few weeks without them.
  18. I've had a PT145 for years.  Great shooting gun.
  19.     Yep, excellent source of information.
  20. Welcome!
  21. Ye ole CBR... And the mighty XT...
  22. Welcome!
