  1. Grit in the action? If you don't want to take it apart, hose it down with CLP and blast it with compressed air.
  2. I've never had any work done locally, but I've also heard good things about Predator and CCA.
  3. mmmmm..... FAL carbine goodness. Build it or buy it?
  4. "Take the gun, go see what it is." "Wait! Leave the gun, he might get past you..."
  5. My experience with LLBean stuff has all been good, it's very high quality and lifetime warranty. My wife used the same LLBean backpack all through high school and college and it's still in decent shape. I'm on my 3rd fleece coat... broken zipper after 5 years then frayed stitching 6 or so years. They replaced the coat free of charge both times, no questions asked.
  6. I've always thought they were dumb. The biggest turn-off for me (other than all the legal nonsense) is the "ripped from the headlines" episodes. Or as I call them... "our writers suck so bad, they can't come up with an original story on their own" episodes.
  7. This bit of information might help explain both Jose and his wife's reaction... From here: Jose Guerena Killed: Arizona Cops Shoot Former Marine In Botched Pot Raid
  8. As stated, the issue is primarily the high power green lasers. The likelihood of hitting a pilot directly in the face is quite low. However, the laser beam can hit the multi-pane glass and refract and "dazzle" the cockpit (think disco ball). The cockpit windows can act as a beam splitter. I doubt you'd appreciate it if the pilot was trying to blink the spots away and trying to recover his night vision on final approach at 500ft and 150mph with your family on board.
  9. So if I understand, you wear it like a normal IWB belt holster, only it's not actually attached to anything? Friction alone holds it in place?
  10. I put it in the console or the glove box. My understanding is the HCP covers having a loaded handgun in your vehicle, however it does not cover a loaded long gun (nothing does).
  11. I received the following via email and thought it pertinent to share here as lots of folks have lasers mounted on their weapons. You might be tempted to shine the laser at a passing aircraft. The FAA thinks that's a bad idea.
  12. What they need to do is understand that the average American reads on an 8th grade level. If the regulations aren't clear to a middle-school kid, they aren't clear enough.
  13. The situation was quite different for President Eisenhower. Times were good, the economy was booming after the war. Things like OSHA didn't exist. Not saying abolishing all those things is necessarily good idea, but Eisenhower's context was very different from today.
  14. The F1 race was pretty good. Watching the rookie hit the wall on the last turn at Indy was disheartening.
  15. Some really old Lake City .45acp ammo that was beginning to corrode. Minor corrosion on the cases, bullet noses turning green, etc. About 400 rounds were given to a friend when some family cleaned out an uncle's stash after he passed away. It ran fine through my Taurus and his Glock, but both guns were filthy. After about 150 rds, my SS slide was nearly black along with my hands.
  16. Lots of historical stuff around Chattanooga (Chickamauga Battlefield, Point Park, Missionary Ridge, The Incline, Choo-Choo)... but that's a little beyond your 2 hr range. Ft. Loudon, John Sevier Home, Cades Cove, http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/events-gatherings/22777-very-nice-gun-display-tellico-plains-museum.html
  17. Check your fly, then check for boogers. If they're still staring, shrug your shoulders and say (politely)... "what?" I'll bet they look away without saying a word.
  18. My wife sent me similar pictures (of the hail).
  19. pffft. That just proves he can't drive. That car will go waaaay faster than 128. He's lucky our laws aren't like Finland in that regard. Your fine is in proportion to your ability to pay.... Finland, Land of the $200K Speeding Ticket
  20. Simply meaning that the punishment for the infraction (regardless of legality of the enforcement) isn't worth the trouble of fighting about it. You get a camera ticket, you pay the $50 and go on with life. It makes you mad, but that's just tough. The cops see your $30 knife, you hand it over and move on.
