  1. That's because there are lots of ways to do it. You know how opinions are... Fixed.
  2. If you're not going to use the motion detection feature, exchange it for a 3-wire light without the motion detector. Otherwise, connect the ground wire to something metal... light housing, junction box, etc.
  3. It's an old warhorse of a battle rifle, and there's something undeniably cool about that. It's the ego thing about firing a "big" cartridge, and the satisfaction of doing so on the cheap. It's somewhat rude and crude, but functions beautifully. It's "minute of paper plate" accurate, and that's good enough. When drawing a bead, one can't help but channel a little Vasily Zaytsev. Somehow that fuzzy paper plate begins to resemble a German helmet, and that makes you smile on the inside.
  4. Yes, its up to the FFL holder. Though some don't seem to know that. Locally, Bill's Outpost will accept transfers from individuals. He did the transfer on a receiver from a guy CA for me a while back. Gunnys told me it was illegal.
  5. Wow, some talented carpenters here! My Dad has always been a carpenter at heart and has gotten into wood turning in retirement. He makes some really neat stuff.
  6. If you can't catch a fingernail on whatever groove/tool marks there may be on the surface, I wouldn't start with something as aggressive as 600 grit. I'd try emery or crocus cloth or scotchbrite first. Work with that for a few minutes and see how it looks. Then switch to polishing with some compound (jeweler's rouge). You only want to smooth the surface, do not change it's shape. Less is more.
  7. Nice pics, though you'd think he'd at least iron his shirt before a photo shoot. Or is wrinkly in style now? As for Kim, if she didn't have Bruce Jenner's million$s, she wouldn't exist.
  8. Looks great! Nice to see someone who actually uses the appropriate bolts and brackets. The shelf across the back is a nice touch. The ball caddy looks cool too. Carpentry is fun. I'll also confess to being a Mike Holmes fan. He does some really neat stuff and it's just staggering to see how badly some people get screwed.

    swiss k31

I bought a K31 on here a while back, but I'm yet to shoot it. A unique rifle, can't wait to see what it'll do.
  10. Sounds like you did good. Though I wouldn't replace the door, just check the striker/plate alignment and install a dead bolt.
  11. I'll also recommend State Farm or USAA if you're eligible. I had the same $25k renters policy which was really cheap. Increasing the amount for any particular item (guns, artwork, jewelry, etc.) is easy.
  12. I've had good luck using the Deck Mate screws and the bits that come in the box with them. I think Lowes and Home Depot both carry them. They used to be a hybrid phillips/square drive and have changed to torx drive. Either way, they work well. I've built a couple of decks with them. Deck Mate
  13. Bring your check book and we'll leave after work today.
  14. ORSA has the 1000yd range and a separate 300 yd range. I understand from friends who are ORSA members that you can't just walk in and shoot at 1000 yds. You have to qualify and prove that you can hit only what you're supposed to. The way I read the requirements, the HCP only satisfies the proof of "Marksmanship or other Firearm Related Activity" requirement. You also must be a member of an affiliated organization (and a citizen, and eligible to purchase a gun, and...). Eligibility Requirements
  15. I started playing in the mid-90's while in college. I was a band geek long before that. As many others have said, I wish I started playing much sooner. My wife picked up the banjo a few years ago and we both were taking bluegrass lessons and really enjoyed it. But then I lost my job and we had to move away from the instructor. I'd like to start back with the lessons again but we haven't found a local instructor and with 2 kids, I've no idea where we'd find the time. About the only time I have now is when my 3 yr old says "Daddy, pway bu guitar!" Translated, that means... "dearest father, if you would be so kind as to entertain me for the next 30 seconds by strumming a melodious tune on that beautiful instrument, I'd be most grateful." I have an old Ibanez EX electric, two humbuckers plus a single with a Floyd Rose. It runs through a Peavy 212 Classic Chorus. I also have an Ovation knock-off acoustic. I'll also strongly recommend starting out with some lessons. Better to prevent bad habits than fix them later.
  16. I'll agree that a Garand should be .30-06. If you want .308, get an M1A. Not sure what you mean here.... I'll agree that $0.50/rd is a very good price for .30-06, you can also get .308 for that lots of places online.
  17. I've seen people jogging around Turkey Creek (while listening to their ipod). It's dangerous enough just driving there.

    Android!!

My wife has an HTC Eris and doesn't like it. It's glitchy, kick you off the web regularly, doesn't ring at all or only for a couple seconds before going to voicemail, the "swipe to answer" doesn't work very well, ... She wants an iphone4 when the contract is up. I still use the LG flip phone I've had for about 5 years. Apparently I'm technology challenged as I've never heard of rooting or kernels. Hopefully google will educate me.
  19. Yes, it's yummy. Along with darn near everything else they serve. *sigh* I wish I still lived near one...
  20. Rules? They're more like guidelines than actual rules... With the proliferation of belt holsters for phones that keep getting bigger, seeing a belt-line bulge under a shirt is so common that people don't think anything of it. As others have said, the sheeple are condition white.
  21. The "chicken little" media is ridiculous. To supplement leroy's post...
