  1. I thought the same...in fact, the only reason I clicked was to see w/ my own eyes, LOL.
  2. LEO's are trained to exert a sense of confidence that is akin to dominance. There's no room for being wishy washy or timid in their line of work. The must appear to be in charge of every confrontation. I suspect this is often mistaken for a "power trip". However, the officer in this video has some serious issues. The language he uses aside is unnecessary, but the threats to a fully cooperating citizen are just plain inexcusable. My guess is that he'll be attending some on the clock anger management classes and be given a lengthy paid vacation soon.
  3. You know your wife won't let you buy another gun.
  4. I cannot agree with the "butt out" attitude regarding the abortion issue. In most cases I agree that I should mind my business, like when it comes to what kind of light bulbs my neighbors buy, whether they have tattoos and piercings, what kind of gas mileage their car gets, whether they like porn, how much beer they drink or weed they smoke, whether they believe in God, or what their favorite sexual position is. These are the kind of things that hurt no one. But, if I hear/see a neighbor beating his wife or kids, I cannot stand idly by and ignore it. I can't just dismiss it as his right to choose how he releases his tensions. Getting an abortion is not like having a mole removed or a scar touched up. A human being is killed in the process. So, calling the abortion victim a "fetus" as if it's just a sack of tissue with nothing at stake in the "choice" doesn't mean the baby isn't alive. It's a serious subject that I feel deserves serious scrutiny. Turning a blind eye and marginalizing the value of the life at risk doesn't seem to like how you deal with a serious subject.
  5. We trusted that the doctor was correct and that my wife would, in fact, die if she did not have the surgery and chemotherapy. So, we felt we had no choice but to have an abortion. It was the an easy decision then and every time I look at my daughter, born almost 2 years later, I am glad she is here and that my wife is alive. However, I'd be lying if I said that the decision doesn't bother me today. Like db, I'd die for my kids and so would my wife, but we had to also consider our then 2 yr old son as well. Maybe that makes my strong Pro-Life position seem hypocritical, but my regrets don't outweigh the good that came from our choice.
  6. I've carried this one every day for almost a year on the same AA battery. It comes on every time I click the button and is easy to carry at only 4" long and 1" across at the widest part. At first, I thought $13.65 w/ shipping for a 180 lumen light sounded too low to be trustworthy, but it's been good to go whenever I need it. It has Hi/Lo/Strobe, aluminum body, tail cap clicky/clickie, and pocket clip. Plus it takes one AA or one CR123A battery. So far, I've been happy and am glad I didn't spend $100 on one.
  7. Although I acknowledge that it is rare to "need" an abortion to save the mother's life, I found myself in the exact situation you've described. In late 1994 my wife was pregnant with our second child. Within 6 or 8 weeks we found out she had advanced lymphoma. We struggled for all of a day at the most with the decision of whether she had an abortion, surgery to remove tumors, and chemotherapy or died from cancer within months +/- of giving birth (as estimated by her oncologist). Our oldest, a son, is shipping out to the Marines exactly one week from today. He did not deserve to grow up without his mother and would not be the man he is today without her influence. Our youngest, a daughter, was born in late 1996. I cannot imagine life without her and owe her existence to our decision. As I see it ALL life is precious, whether it's an unborn living child or the mother carrying that child. While I consider myself strongly Pro-Life today, I'd obviously NEVER ask a woman to risk her life if an abortion could save her. Otherwise, whether it's been born a week ago, conceived a week ago, or somewhere in between I believe the rest of the abortion debate has always and will always hinge upon when the law decides a child is too old to kill.
  8. They forgot something... After the cow pulls the round into the chamber, it falls through a trap door. Then the springy thing pushes the cow down a secret passage behind the executive office. Duh, how else does it get back to the ramp thingy below the rec room to pull the next bullet.
  9. I only saw a few Mosins at the gun show today. The ones I did see looked nice at least. Unfortunately, I didn't see them until they were closing. I think they'd be about $125 OTD. That's not much higher than a hand picked one online after shipping AND I get to see it before I buy it. Think that's too high? Also, if I brought my C&R license to the show, do you think they'd still charge me TICS?
  10. John, I hope you enjoy that book or at least get as much out of it as I did.
  11. As usual, had a great time today. Thanks to all that made it happen. All of the stages were fun & challenging, but the stage with the TX star was the most fun. I wish it had been the stage that you shoot twice! Wish I could have stayed to finish the shotgun side match, but at least I got to shoot half.
  12. If I don't find a decent one at the gun show this weekend, I'll have to start looking online again.
  13. I'm looking forward to this match. Put me down for +1, a friend at work is coming to his first IDPA match. I think he's gonna love it too. I appreciate the advice Greg, thanks.
  14. Let's say I dread another trip to get something better. What choke will help the most on a 28" barrell?
  15. I have my C&R on file at all 3 as a matter of fact. Just forgot about AIM. I'll try them too, thanks for the reminder.
  16. So, I have 19 rd mags for my gun. Are you saying I can shoot ESP and use full mags? One other question...will 1-1/8 oz #7 shells work for the shotgun match?
  17. OOH! A caliber debate. These are always good for some fun.
  18. I'd trade every calendar day over 90 degrees for 2 under 40 degrees in a hearbeat. Can't get naked enough to make a difference in this heat. Besides, in the winter snuggling up to my wife to get lucky is easier. In this heat she says get the hell off me are you outta your mind?
  19. I would have completely understood that they could run out of an item. Coincidentally running out of both items on my order is just crazy bad luck, but still understandable. Not calling to tell me for 2 weeks is neither understandable nor forgivable in my book. I'm gonna either try J&G Sales or Southern Ohio Gun next. What's the worse that could happen, I get jerked around for 2 weeks and end up with no guns? Thanks a lot ttocswob, now I'm scared I'm gonna get credit card raped too.
  20. I promised the folks at Classic Arms that I'd share a lil' story with ya. I placed an order 2 weeks ago yesterday (Tuesday 6/28) for 2 Mosins (one round Izzy and one sniper). More research revealed that the "original Russian sniper" is really a reproduction, so I called the next morning to change it to a hex Dragoon rifle. The person on the phone was real snitty and abrupt and I wish I had just said nevermind, cancel the order right then. But then I wouldn't get to tell you this story. After several days, my online invoice never reflected the $300 price difference, so I called back (Friday (7/1). It seems that they can't change the invoice to reflect my real order once it's placed online...still, not very friendly, but I'm still too dense to take a hint. I waited til about a week ago to call and verify that I would still get an email when my order ships. Since there won't be updates to my online invoice, how can I know when it will ship? I need to be able to track the pkg and be home to sign for it. I was told they'll have my order shipped by Friday 7/8 and an email will follow. At this point it's been a week and a half, so I'm expecting an apology for the delay...NOPE, but at least I know now that my order is almost out of their hands, so I said thank you. Well, I got a call from them yesterday (Tuesday 7/12) saying they started fulfilling orders. Turns out they ran out of both of the rifles I ordered 2 weeks ago, before they got to me and want to know "What do you want me to about your order?". A moment of cool-headedness made me think twice about actually indicating which orifice into which they could forcibly insert my order. Still polite, I asked is this how the order process usually goes. "Well, some times...see, we never really know what we'll get in, so some times we don't have as many of some rifles as we thought we would." I wish I had been more polite to the person on the phone when I asked what kind of garage sale operation they are running. It shouldn't take 2 weeks to let a customer know they aren't getting what they ordered. I should have gotten that call on Friday when I was promised it would go out. Regardless, I made it clear that not only would I NEVER order from them again, but I would make sure I warn everyone else what to expect if they decide to do business with Classic Arms, A DIVISION OF U.S. ARMS LLC. 21. You jumped to the wrong conclusion about what I meant. I was speaking strictly of fiscal conservatism, but since you mentioned it... I believe it is far less "wrong" to feel a sense of duty to spread one's religious and/or moral convictions than it is to be devoid of any. We ALL have an idea of what is right and wrong and we ALL feel a sense of duty to spread those beliefs or at least stand up for them. Afterall, there's a reason they're called "beliefs" instead of musings or suppositions. They are usually a deeply personal set of convictions. So, whether we are all in the same Judeo-Christian camp or not we will never all share the same set of moral convictions any more than we'll all agree on which is better, Original Recipe or Extra Crispy. The country is approximately 60-65% "conservative", but we are not united against socialism, b/c we can't get past each others' religious/moral beliefs long enough to get anything done about the fiscal issues we mostly agree on.
