    Opinions on Kel-tec

I have a P-32 that I've been carrying as a BUG for a couple of years now. I put a couple of mags through it about once a month to be sure nothing's wrong. I don't have a single complaint about mine. In fact, I liked it enough to put a Crimson Trace Laserguard on it. They ain't cheap, so that's a decent sized commitment I wouldn't have made if I didn't trust the gun.
  2. i entered my email address at 8 or 10 websites that will notify you when Hornady 9x18 was back in stock. Funny thing is 4 of them emaied me the same day saying it was in stock, so I got to be choosey about price...a little. Starline brass is top notch stuff, but it's about 18 cents per case. I know I can reload it many times, but that's too pricey for a cheapskate like me.
  3. Wow! When do you ever have time to shoot? LOL
  4. As far as reloads go...I try to keep 500 rounds of 9mm Lugers ahead of my shooting pace. Likewise, I keep 200 9mm Makarovs on hand. I just keep these in 100 ct MTM boxes, since I rotate through this stock at least once per month. When it comes to store bought...I panic when I open the last 550 round box of Federal 22's. There's always at least a box or 2 of .32 ACPs and .380s in my ammo cabinet along with a couple hundred 12 and 20 gauge shells. My wife thinks this is too much...I wish she realized how much others keep on hand, so she'd get off my back about spending so much time in the garage reloading.
  5. 4 more years of that last one and this place will look like a junk yard.
  6. Nice! That looks like as sturdy a bench as I've seen. Did you build it? That's an awesome setup. How many calibers do you reload?
  7. This is my main bench for 9mm Luger The small one is currently setup for 9mm Makarov. That's one of my dogs, Layla, photo-bombing my pics. It also has a small press dedicate to depriming with a little trap under it to catch spent primers. I can lift the little metal gate to clean them out.
  8. Oh great! Another "Martin" gets shot. Please tell me Moffit wasn't a white guy. The last thing we nees is Jesse and Al up here starting protests and screaming for Moffit's arrest.
  9. Same thing is happening to me too on several forum threads. I had to use Tapatalk instead of web browser just to read/reply to this thread.
  10. I wanted to make trimming the brass as painful as possible, so I used a Lee Zip Trim and case trimmer with ball grip. That way I will be more careful to find all my brass to avoid doing it again for a long time. Staining them with the red Dykem was easier than trimming more.
  11. Heck yeah!
  12. The reason I did it that way is because some guns may "prefer" a different OAL than others to cycle well. I've got a gun that will jam every time if my OAL gets over 1.135 to 1.14", because the bullet is too long to make the angle up the feed ramp. Likewise, if too short the bullet can stovepipe when rounds are stripped off the mag. I'm not saying it's scientific, just a starting point. Rarely do I find a listing in a manual where the test rounds were fired in a gun similar to mine.

    Can U do This ?

I've never drove one, so I'm still impressed.
  14. I did the same thing when I started reloading, except I measured a dozen or so WWB rounds and took an average, since they always cycled well in all my guns. I just googled my powder and the length and found a few charge recommendations. I had to work up/down to get the best accuracy. Please be careful not to shorten your OAL AND up your charge at the same time. Shortening the OAL will create more case pressure all by itself. Upping the powder too might cause the pressure to get too high.
  15. Hey Lumber_Jack, how are you using to capture screen shots? I need to learn how to do that.
  16. I know what you mean about it being hard to see how the gun could be responsible. Ididn't know if it was possible the rifling in a Glock barrel might be a contributor, since it's the only one getting squibs. I hope it's not the primer, since I just split a case with a buddy and kept 3000 of them. It would suck to lose $60 worth of primers like that.
  17. I've found 9x18 at a couple of gun shops around here, but most want $12/box for Brown Bear, $16/box for Silver Bear, and $23-25/box for brass cased ammo, like S&B or PMC. I like shooting my CZ 82 too much to pay those prices.
  18. I use 95gr Berry's plated bullets for reloading Maks. They are .364 (compared to .355 for Lugers) and shorter and lighter. If you run a Luger case through a Makarov sizing die and powder die (just to flare the mouth), you can trim a mm off the mouth and load it as a Makarov. First time being fired, the case will expand to the right specs. Since Luger brass is usually thicker, this produces a good result.
  19. After the 2nd squib, I've been very paranoid about maybe missing a charge, so I have a lamp clamped to my press. It's bent so that its light is shining right between stage 3 and 4, right before I put a bullet on the flared case. No doubt that it's possible that my press could miss a charge and when it did, it happened I wasn't looking and that round went into my Glock instead of one of my other guns and this all happened 4 trips to the range in a row. I hope you're right, because that's the easiest fix. I will watch WAY more closely to rule this out. It just seemed too coincidental, so I figured it couldn't hurt to ask for some ideas.
  20. Last summer I got my first squib. It was from my one of my powderpuff reloads and it happened at a match, which scared the crap out of me. Think fast follow-up shots and adrenaline and you'll understand why. Luckily it was lodged so near the chamber that the next round wouldn't go into battery or who knows what would have happened. Someone lent me a dowel and I was able to finish up the match. Learned my lesson, upped the charge from 3.8gr of Bullseye to 4.0 gr, and never looked back. Recently, however, I've gotten 4 squibs in as many trips to the range. I've loaded and shot almost 3500 rounds of 9mm in the past year, mostly from my CZ Shadow and my CZ P-01. All 4 squibs were in my Glock 17, which I've been shooting more often lately since I did some upgrades (not related to the firing pin assembly). The first happened with a 124 gr plated bullet from Berry's loaded on my old Lee turret press. The next 3 were 124 gr FMJ from Precision Delta loaded on my new Dillon 650. I've been using the same powder charge all along and with no issues in any of my other guns, so it's hard to chalk it up to coincidence. I'm thinking maybe I need more powder due to the differences b/w the Glock's barrel and the others'; maybe the one squib with the Berry's was a fluke (partial load or weak primer) and the 3 others are isssues with the new FMJ's from Precision Delta; or maybe my new Dillon press is dropping powder less consistently than my Lee (seems unlikely). I'd appreciate some constructive input.
  21. I know how you felt when you thought you lost that pin. When I was reassembling mine I BROKE it! CZ-USA only sells the new L-shaped ones, so count your blessing. With the new ones, the frame must be drilled to allow the "L" part somewhere to anchor. I lucked out and found a guy (Norm Sutton) in FL that makes them. I bought 4 In case he quits making them, since he appears to be the world's only source for this part. BTW...your gun looks fabulous! Are you gonna start reloading Makarov rounds now that you went to so much trouble? I did
  22. Thanks David! I am very happy. I was missing TGO a lot only being able to login from home. Better than half my posts were made via Tapatalk. It makes using a smart phone for forums easy due to reformatting. I'd highly recommend it.
  23. Congrats on the cool blue press. I liked reloading before. Dillon made made me love it. What caliber are you setting it up for?
  24. Not sure how far you've gotten in the books, but I'm curious to know if you are as impressed as I am how well the show and the book parallel each other. They followed the books closer than anything I've seen turned into a show/movie. Great stuff!
  25. There's so much cool stuff about to happen that I can't stand it. I'm impressed with how close they're sticking to the story...so far. I guess having the author on staff helps. They let us believe Ned was the main character through most of the 1st season and then killed him off. That should tell you that we're in for a bumpy ride! I worry the budget is too high and the cast will age before the filming catches up, but I hope not. They already picked many actors/actresses way older than the characters in the books. I hope we don't wind up with a 30 year playing a teenager by the end.
